LotsOfMuffins 1357 Share Posted January 3, 2020 COMMUNITY TEAM UPDATE LOG DECEMBER 2019 INTRODUCTION Hello again! The past month has been jam-packed with changes, continuations of recent changes, and projects. The focus groups got an overhaul, ban appeals are continuing, reports have been written, teams have been opened up to players, and loads of upcoming projects have been worked on. Overall, things are moving forward. DECEMBER DATA - Overview - This month, we saw a total of 185 apps handled, with 135 new players welcomed onto LotC. This is a pretty significant decrease from last month, which saw 219 applications and 129 new players welcomed onto LotC. This can probably be attributed to the holiday season, where hopefully people are spending time with their family rather than applying for a Minecraft server. We anticipate this number to increase over the course of the next month again. - Accepted/Denied Ratios - - Race Specific Data - - New Player Guidance - TEAM DATA - Application Team Data - - Other Team Data - APPLICATION KING/QUEEN This month’s application king goes to… MamaBearJade! @MamaBearJade Followed behind by @_Wonk and @TwistedFries! Jade’s coming back from her month-long break swinging with 45 applications! MEMBER ALTERATIONS + chaosgamer_+ _Pan + DreamInSpace+ Nestro_Miner - Olroxx - Jenny_Bobbs PROJECT UPDATES WIKI - KaleyKitty Throughout December, the Wiki Focus Group has been slowly working to update the wiki. We've updated the "In-Game Commands" page for your convenience in game. We've also been continuously updating the "Nation and Major Charter" page to include the most relevant information, this now includes Tier 3 charters. The "Guilds and Organizations" page has also been getting a few updates, adding in a few religions. Lastly, the front page is getting a redo. However, our biggest upcoming wiki project is opening up the wiki team to players. This team will be run by the Community Team but open to players to help out as well. If you’re interested in applying, head here: COMMUNITY EVENTS - Armajesty Hello, everyone! As many of you know December was a BIG month for the Community Events Team. We held four events during the month, many of which overlapped. These events included The Advent Calendar Scavenger Hunt, December Creative Cafe, Battle of the Arts, and Secret Krugmas. Due to the sheer amount of events held this month, we have decided to tone things down for January and will be hosting one big (and secret) event at the end of the month that we hope everyone will enjoy. I’d like to personally thank MeteorDragon900, fieselena and TwistedFries for all the hard work they’ve done this December within the events focus group. Events like these wouldn’t be possible without their dedication and hard work. We look forward to everyone’s continued support and remind players that if you’d like to request a certain event OR simply ask questions to contact me @ armajesty#5043. TUTORIALS - puffables Over in the projects focus group, through December we've slowly been working and building upon all three areas! We've compiled up the current guides list, and this month I hope to push through in organizing them more neatly. For tutorial island, we've got a decent prompts set that'll be expanded upon even more this coming month, along with the lovely WT beginning to help us out with formulating the actual island build. And last but not least; the quest board/guild is well underway! The building itself has been constructed - and we, along with the lovely ET who we are working with on this project, look forward to adding the finishing touches and write ups to present to you all as soon as we can - sure to be a wonderful addition to CT ❤️ REPORTS Community Team Member: MeteorDragon9000 Topic(s): 1.14 Results: Brought to the development team Community Team Member: CTMamaJade Topic(s): New Player Feedback Results: Brought to Community Management Community Team Member: Nozgoth Topic(s): Ban Appeal System Results: WIP Community Team Member: Armajesty & fieselena Topic(s): Prices of the SOW items Results: WIP Community Team Member: TwistedFries Topic(s): Improving communication between staff and players Results: Brought to Community Management Community Team Member: CTMamaJade Topic(s): Item Descriptions Results: Brought to the Story Administrator Community Team Member: _Wonk Topic(s): Player thoughts on the Pot's n' Bandit's Project Results: Brought to Community Management Community Team Member: CTMamaJade Topic(s): Community Team feedback Results: Brought to Community Management JANUARY’S DIRECTION Last month, the team continued to handle ban appeals, which has been moving along decently. They’ve been being picked up within a day and the verdict has been given out within a few days. However, we’re looking to decrease the time between picking up an appeal and giving the verdict. In addition, last month we also shifted our core duties to include appeals and community advocacy, which has been done. Reports, however, are going to need a change. As it stands right now, they are useful to a point, though are tedious, time-consuming, and don’t utilize a large amount of players. Although the team is still going to be focusing on community advocacy, we are going to have to take a new approach, which will happen over the course of this next month. If you have any thoughts on this, feel free to leave a comment below. Last Month’s Goals: Playerbase Engagement / Feedback Reports have been moving along, though, as described more below, it hasn’t been as effective as we’d like. So, this goal will continue into this month to sort out how to advocate for the community using a different system. If you have any ideas, please leave a comment below! Finalizing a New Structure Last month, we began a new structure, utilizing different core duties, including ban appeals and community advocacy, and attempting to reshape the team. So far, ban appeals have been moving along. Due to the holiday season, things were a bit slowed, though the ban appeal response time continues to be within a few days at most. Reports, however, are a different story. The team and the players have expressed that the reports aren’t really going anywhere, and I’ve noticed that myself. So, although we’re continuing with our plan for community advocacy, the team is currently trying out different ways to be able to advocate for the community, but in a more effective way. Although the new structure was finalized, with the feedback we’ve received from reports, we will be changing up that particular core duty. Guidance Overhaul This month, due to the lag, we weren’t really able to guide that many new players to settlements. However, we did teleport them around to avoid the chunk lag. Due to technical difficulties, we haven’t gotten a chance to try out much of a different way of guidance. However, with our quest board project under the projects focus group, we are aiming to use that sort of system to help integrate new players, providing quests to lead them to nations they may be interested in. This Month’s Goals: Playerbase Engagement / Feedback As spoken about above, feedback from the team and players shows that reports need a change, in some way. This next month, the team will be meeting to test out different systems in order to still advocate for the community and help ensure their voice is heard with a different system than what we currently have. Moving Forward with Projects Thanks to @KaleyKitty, the wiki team is now being opened up to players as well. Although the wiki team is run by the community team, joining it would not mean joining the community team nor staff, rather helping out. This is going to be one of our major projects this next month, getting it all set up. To sign up, head here: https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/188105-wiki-team-application/?tab=comments#comment-1750975 Another major project is definitely going to be Tutorial Island. Our progress on this continues within the projects focus group, as described by puffables. Now that we’re moving away from focusing on our restructure, this month will be more aimed towards working on the projects at hand. Guidance Overhaul We will continue to move forward with overhauling our guidance system as the quest board project is worked on and the chunks are hopefully being fixed. If you have any questions or comments about the direction that we are going in, feel free to leave a comment down below or reach out to a team member.

NotEvilAtAll 9926 Share Posted January 3, 2020 I want exact number data on how many new applicants were accepted per race. Do you have that data anywhere?
Statherian 3314 Share Posted January 3, 2020 @_Pan the one to save them.... Personally feel like reports are bordeline useless in their current stage. The feedback given here is very minimal and only tells us where the reports went to, not what was actually done with them. Although the idea itself is good, it’s very poorly executed in its current form as it doesn’t do much, and there does not seem to be any real structure for different reports. I saw a discord being set up for one, but other reports are just a Ct member pinging a discord and asking for feedback, that won’t really work. As stated above please give us exact numbers again, as percentages are nice and all specific data is helpful to get an insight on less popular races and could potentially have leadership of those racial communities. New player guidance list does not really seem complete, dead charters/nations are still listed there but not all charters (not even Tier 3) are there. Please update. Please toss ban appeals back to moderation holy ****. “Supreme formatter” but writes title in black. That is all.

Xarkly 12585 Share Posted January 5, 2020 @LotsOfMuffins Would it not be more beneficial to publish the Feedback Reports here or in another thread for public viewing? It doesn't really do anyone a lick of good for them to be included here just to say ‘they happened’. In general, these feedback reports aren’t going to be entirely useful so long as they're restrained to the very small sample pool that’s being utilised at the moment -- they have to be verified by some kind of wider communal concensus like a Your View. A Feedback Report backed up by a Your View would probably produce far more accurate results than a handful of individuals being selected from a Discord that not everybody is in.

We’re currently changing up the report system, so that’s definitely something that we’ll try out. We’ve been going over doing more Your View’s instead of solely feedback reports, anyway, since Your View’s actually get a larger audience and clearly display people’s thoughts for all to see.
