Cardinal Rodrigo in his study, over going new candidates for the Priesthood. ca. 1752

You make your journey to the city of Avalain. Once standing before the walls of the city, you think to yourself about the decision you are about to make. You then nod to yourself and walking inside. As you enter the city, you look around and notice near complete silence. There were no children playing in the street, no salesman at their stalls and no guards protecting the citizens. The horrors of war. You wonder if you are at the right place before continuing on.

...

You continue towards the Chapel, still suspicious of the silence which lies amongst the streets. Your view glides to the sign above the entrance: “Chapel of Saint Daniel” and think to yourself: “This must be it..” You then proceed to walk inside and step through the insides of the chapel. As you look around the room you see one or two faithful, deep in prayer, sitting in the peer. You decide not to disturb them with a Salve and continue on.

Then you arrive the Office of the Chapel. A sign hangs above it: “His Eminence, Prelate of the Priesthood, Rodrigo Cardinal Avalain”. You knock on the door and a quiet voice says “Come in.” Upon hearing this, you enter the office.

...

There you are greeted by a young man dressed in fine silk: “Salve.”. He says and shakes your hand before he gestures you to take a seat in front of his desk. The Cleric then asks you:

“You must be a candidate for the Priesthood, yes?”

You nod once to the cleric, clear in your decision: “Indeed I am, Sir.”
He continues: “Perfect, now let us begin.” He readies his questions and reads them out aloud to you;

...

“What is your baptismal name?”

(INSERT ANSWER)
“Hm, and how many years have you lived?”

(INSERT ANSWER)

“I see, interesting. And where were you born?”

(INSERT ANSWER)

“Aha, and your ethnicity?”

(INSERT ANSWER)
“Are you able to read and write?”

(INSERT ANSWER)

“I see. And your family? Are you married, do you have children?”

(INSERT ANSWER)

“How do you wish to serve GOD? As A Monk? A priest? A layman?”

(INSERT ANSWER)

“And finally, do you have any issue with taking up oaths of chastity and devote yourself to our Lord GOD?”

(INSERT ANSWER)

“That should be all.” He finishes writing down the answers “I shall send this to the Prelate of the Priesthood right away.”

He rises and shakes your hand, gesturing to the door. You nod to the cleric and step out of the office. You are happy with your decision and smile once, before taking a seat in the peer amongst the other faithful and pray. Whilst you pray you hear another soul walk through the office, having the same fate as you. you watch them do the same as you, knock on the door and hear a quiet “Come in.” You then continue praying and as soon as you finish your prayer you rise and walk out of the Chapel, counting the days ahead before the Prelate makes a decision.

“What is your baptismal name?”

Reginald de Boot

“Hm, and how many years have you lived?”

A mere 30, but the eye can be deceiving!

“I see, interesting. And where were you born?”

Laria, I come not from the mainland (and I do solemnly pray that you do not mistake this God-blessed Laria for the sickly foulspring of the godless and the elvenesse, that is the late Lyria! Hah. . )

“Aha, and your ethnicity?”

Why, isn’t this humorous! This must be an ill antic; for a man born in Laria, am obviously an Larian! It is an old provinence, indeed, but I had expected that at the least you would present me with a modicum of mind.

“Are you able to read and write?”

Do not allow me to think you for a half-wit! Who else could have written the letter I sent a week past, if not myself? Not to say that I do not own a hand-maiden or several unworthy serfs, but I am a man of humble origins, and an even grander sense of humility. I would not allow myself to be burdened of the pen, to which I hold a great affinity.

“I see. And your family? Are you married, do you have children?”

Nae. I am a virgin, pure and pious.

“How do you wish to serve GOD? As A Monk? A priest? A layman?”

A priest. I wish to appease GOD.

“And finally, do you have any issue with taking up oaths of chastity and devote yourself to our Lord GOD?”

Not at all.

“That should be all.” He finishes writing down the answers “I shall send this to the Prelate of the Priesthood right away.”

"Why is the Church's Flexio so bad?" A learned boy says. "At least it isn't as bad as the Golden Bulls, they are an atrocity!"
