Population: 21,871,561,183 Tjierans

Economic Expenditure: 109,500 C, 41 M, 4 F

(60,000 C, 20 M, 20 SP) The largest fleet-wide purchase ever made by the Tjieran government, over 10 destroyers are laid down to add onto the already placed forces of the fleet.

(28,000 C, 10 M, 10 SP) To supplement the vast screen fleet built, a mandate is put up that each five destroyers must be accompanied by a light cruiser. 2 LC’s are built in the shipyards. Just to top off the frigate line too, 2 more of them are built as well.

(18,000 C, 3 M) Not only does the navy get a massive influx of spending, the ground forces do too. 4,000 Vehicles, split up into 1,500 Anti-Aircraft vehicles, 1,000 Mobile Artillery pieces and about 750 Tanks and 750 APCS.

(MOD) Instead of continuing the search to the far north, the 5 exploration vessels are instead directed westward.

Research Expenditure: 4 Free Slots [Tech 10]

[Passive Slot 1] The Tjieran army had been clamoring for decades to receive some sort of upgrade to their kinetic weapon systems. Finally having brought up enough ruckus, the energized propellant and ammo types are worked to be downsized for both infantry and vehicles. [T2 Ground Kinetics, 25% off] [EST 2212 COMPLETION]

[Passive Slot 2] A need for speed was on the mind of Tjack’s scientist and the process of constructing a much faster warp drive begins. [T2 Warp.] 2211 EST

“Grand Forgemaster.”  Shipmaster Qetre’Vadar flicked on the holo-table from his command chair. At the center of the pristine, circular bridge a blue image manifested itself into the view of all present. ‘Vadar rasped his bony knuckles upon the armrest of his throne - his cold, steely gaze transfixed upon the projected image.

“Lord Shipmaster.” the contact returned, revealing a rather ordinary Skellar male, save for two chitinous, horn-like protrusions extending from either side of his head, flanking the eyeports of his faceplate. “Why do you contact me at this time? Boredom? Conversation?”

The Shipmaster scrunched his tentacles upwards and let out a low hum - a Skellar equivalent to a suppressed chuckle. “Time means little in the void, old friend.”

“Of course, apologies. All that time in zero-gee must be driving you mad, I reckon.”

“Actually, also not quite. Those gravity plates we’ve acquired had been installed to our ship not too long ago. I can now walk across the ship as I would walk across the surface of Mother Skell’ig.”

“Ah, right.” the Forgemaster was in the midst of stroking a tentacle. “How quickly we’ve made strides in technology and innovation. Me - I’m no part of that. I adhere to the tried and true practices of Skellar construction.”

“And to that I am thankful, Grand Forgemaster. Were it not for excellent craftsmanship of Federation vessels, we would’ve lost many more lives to the star beast’s grotesque bile.”

“Yes quite. That provided us many opportunities to assess structural weaknesses and areas of improvement.”

Qetre’vadar’s cybernetics dilated, “In regards to areas of improvement… I believe we may have something you’d like to take a look at.”

“That being?”

“A strange metal - hard, dense, dark. Curious. Preliminary excavators could not makes heads or tails of it but you… you’ve got a knack for these things. I’m sending samples back home for you to look at. Have a crack at it. ‘Vadar out.”

Sol Empire
2209

“They call themselves the Ascardian Principate, oddly enough sir they are not all that different than ourselves..give or take a few odd features.” The Officer stood before the Sovereign, his son and daughter present.

“We’ve learned enough about their language to communicate effectively, and with our ability to communicate over vast distances we could possibly attempt to communicate with them.”

“They haven’t made any attempts to make demands, I think they only wish to conquer us.” Bohdan sighs. “We’re stuck on the defensive for now, we simply can’t afford to spare anything for an attack.” Viktor looked between his two children “A fair yet obvious observation son, how do you think we should proceed?”

“We should continue to hold them off, then chase them back to whatever hole they crawled out of.” Viktor nodded, not at all surprised “Nina what do you think?”

“We have the ability to communicate, and last I heard one of our frigate crews was taken prisoner. I’m sure we are both capable of communicating clearly by now, I say we reach out and demand an answer. Don’t ask for peace, simply demand an answer for these attacks. If they want peace it’ll be because we’ve exhausted their efforts to take our Empire.”

Bohdan and Viktor seem a bit surprised at her sudden attitude change. “Both make fair points, I think it’s clear that some form of communication needs to occur.”

The Republic of Galaron

Date: 619 AR (2208AD)

Crime.

It is a concept that has always existed and will always exist as long as there are laws and social rules.

Crimes, to put it simply, consists of breaking written law and/or unwritten law.

It may range from slightly tilting every painting in a hallway (positively criminal) to murder.

Yes, there will always be crime for if there was no crime no law would be necessary.

Even in the ideal soceity of 619 AR there is still crime. Not as bad as in previous generations but always there.

Thus it is that in the city of Aruda on the continent of Kalurai ina well-lit office building that a grey-furred Galaronian was confidently leaning into a leather-backed chair, as on the other side of the pinkish Yakuai-wood table a brown/white furred Galaronian sat. With both his glasses and beak covering in fear.

The grey furred Galaronian spoke. Both hands on each other and the table. Eyes peering intently into the eyes of the other Galaronian. As if looking at the brown/white furred Galaronian's soul

"Mr Yakusa, can you give me a reason as to why I should not hand over your financial records to the RAS (Regional Administrative Service) ?

The now named Mr Yakusa spoke up to the looming figure of the elder Galaronian. Voice quivering in clear fear. "Let us no be hasty sir.” Mr Yakusa said. Letting his beak go up and down a little to put emphasis on haste.

As this was said the grey-furred Galaronian leaned forward. With Mr Yakusa instinctively shrinking into himself.

"Tell me mr Yakusa. Are you happy with your life, satisfied , content ?

Caught off-guard by this question mr Yakusa responded in a confused tone.

"Uhm...... I guess so yes.

Then the grey-furred Galaronian spoke once more.
Tipping his claws hard on the wooden surface each time he said 'gone’.
"
Alright keep that in mind. Everything that you hold dear. Now think what would happen if you did not have it anymore.”

"Your mansion, gone. Replaced by you sleeping in a cramped unemployed center.

Your nice big bank account. GONE, replaced with crippling debts and a constant effort to make end's meet.

Your relationships GONE. With your wife divorcing and keeping your children whilst the secretary you have an affair with leaks pictures of you in compromising positions.

Everything that you hold dear. GONE

Tears leaking out of the eyes of mr. Yakusa. His whole body shivering and his hairs all standing on end. The man whimpered. “Wha.... at... what can I do ? Anyth.....” The man wanted to speak further but could form no other words.

Now the grey-furred Galaronian leaned back into his chair. And spoke in a kind, yet subtly threatening voice. A complete 180 from his previous furious and intimidating demeanor.

"Mr Yakusa. There is one thing that you can give us that will make sure that all is well for both you and me.

Currency invested this turn: 0k

Now that the quantum coms project has been finished funding and attention have become available to work on the forcefield project. A.k.a. creating a hardened field of energy around a ship. This project is now seen as more viable as xylorite has now been proven to be a possible new energy source.

-T2 plasma (ships) (9 turns to go)

Currency invested previously: 0

Currency invested this turn: 10k

In order to deal with possible insurgents and theoretical extra-terrestial sentient threats the already existing plasma weaponry is to be improved to a greater degree. This is of important priority as plasma weaponry is still a newer invention and will require additional safety features to operate on a larger basis. Especially if ship designs like heavy cruisers will be deployed in the near future.

In order to achieve  [REDACTED] the republic of Galaron decrees to their R&D department that [REDACTED] must be developed. Due to the danger of [REDACTED] if it gets into the wrong hands it is classified as [NEED-TO-KNOW]. Meaning that only those that are involved in the use or development of [REDACTED]. Questions of the Grand Assembly are answered by stating that [REDACTED] is to be held in 'stasis’ until a crisis of suitable danger occurs.

Artificial Gravity:

Turns to go: 2

Currency invested previously: 0

Currency invested this turn: 0

A consistent problem for both the long-term health of the space personel and the functionality of the ships themselves have been a lack of gravity. In order to help mitigate this problem is to create a type of system  which simulates gravity. This can be done by either two ways. One is to find a substitute that helps to simulate the large mass of celestial bodies. The second and more viable option is to study, and simulate the effects of electron. Which rotate around a singular nucleus and in effect function similarly to celestial objects. With two similar formulas being used to calculate the effect of gravity and electrons.

Private corporations and small businesses allow the Republic  to thrive. Some might say they are a pillar of the Republic. Yet this is no excuse to break the law. These corporations found trading illegally are punished via fine. If they refuse to pay said fine, there will be repercussions for their actions.

Corruption comes natural to some. The people that partake in it are immoral and evil. They have no place in the bureaucracy and will be removed as such. A large-scale anti-corruption campaign is launched  by the chancellor. “Those who would abuse the kindness of the state will face the full wraith and utter weight of Zyrka law.” First a non-partisan official will be selected to run the campaign, from there he will launch investigations using the Republic’s resources to the best of his ability and weed out those who would see the institution that has made them what they are rot like an uprooted tree. Money cannot fix all the problems known to us, but it sure helps in the process.

Turn 10

Year 2210

The first embers have grown into flames. War rages between two of the nations of this galaxy, soon to be followed by others.

Tjieran Unitary State

Unfortunately the exploration vessels find only vast emptiness to the West, “unowned” solar systems, in one of the systems a group of space animals are found merely grazing on the dustcloud around the young protostar.

However, reports come in that civilian ships have encountered foreign vessels that scanned them and withdrew moments later. After analyzing the images and signatures they are certain they belong to the same race whose freighter the Tjierans have found crashed on a planetoid. At the same time, a different ship, exploration class has been discovered surveying one of the systems that lie on the very fringe of Tjieran territory. They have not reacted to detection, but send a triple beep signal as some kind of acknowledgement (so it appears), before they proceeded on with what they were doing. The civilian vessels that met them, reported it back to government and then proceeded about their business.

Groukoxxot Clan

Almost insane riches lie waiting buried in the vast facilities of the relic planet. The Clan has found more things than ever before. (+50,000 C and 25 M)

On a different note, one of the Clan’s destroyers single-handedly disabled and apprehended the crew of a foreign vessel. The species they captured is a rather strange one. Barely half the height of an Alduu’uuranean, with four legs, two little arms and black button eyes these little bugs don’t speak but chirp and gurgle. Where they come from is unclear. The clan captain ordered the destruction of the exploration vessel after they have robbed it everything.

UNITED FEDERATION OF SKELLAR SYSTEMS

The unveiling of this new material has certainly sparked the interest of the Forgemasters all throughout the Skellar domain. With a fresh eagerness the old masters as well as the young apprentices begin to study the samples brought home, experiment on them, trying to figure this new metal out, to get the hang of it, to get to know it as if it was part of them. Such is the way of the forgemasters! (You may expect results in 3 years.)

The engineering team for the battleship construction report back that they were able to fix an important error in one of the stress calculations for the hull, which allowed them to proceed on schedule again. The teamleader states that this has saved them some time for future topics in the research, allowing it to be finished about a year earlier.

The Fusion reactor scientists are happy to announce as well that they managed to improve the timing on the reaction triggers to such a substantial degree that they do not have to touch this topic again and can consider it as concluded. Therefore they will be done two years earlier!

Reports come in that the Holy Adaptaar Commonality has come under attack from a foreign nation. A species of strange bird people has shown open aggression against them, raiding and destroying several civilian outposts.

Sol Empire

Project 2 is concluded.

The Ascardians are unresponsive to hailing attempts thus far. Whereever they show up, they ignore hails and proceed about their raiding and destruction as usual. The exploration vessels on the other hand are able to proceed with their mission without interference. However they bring little results, there is little out of the ordinary to be found in the immediate sectors Northeast.

The fortifications certainly have caused the Ascardians to shy away from said sector, as apparently a few corvettes have been spotted briefly, before withdrawing again. It appears they have shifted their focus elsewhere now.

The Republic of Galaron

As opposed to last year, the exploration vessels return with nothing out of the ordinary. Common stellar formations and planet systems in the surveyed sectors. Asteroid belts rich in minerals, gas giants rich in usable reactor fuel.

An odd ship shows up at the doorstep of their capital completely unannounced one day this year. Mostly unarmed, no shields active and looking almost derelict, the freighter class ship hails the orbital space station around the Galaron homeworld. After some static, some garbled fragments of words, where the station operators replied with only confused words of their own, the image stabilizes and shows an awful looking being, who however appears to speak fluently in the language of the Galaron. He calls himself Tokizob, an intergalactic trader who just happened to pick up on the radio signatures of the Republic and followed them here. He is interested in buying some fuel, willing to offer wares, if Republic has coin.

The Ymorian Collective

They return a tad bit earlier than planned, reporting of a civilization that barred them entry into a wide range of sectors, turning them back by firing warning shots. Looks like an unruly neighbour up there.

The science teams, after a brief vacation, return to their posts and get split up into the best workgroups ever! This is a hefty task to start out with again, but they do it for the Ymorian Collective! 19, 8, 9 and 10 years for the projects in this order. Those are their estimates.

Zyrka Republic

Both nations are happy to come to an official trade agreement, they themselves having taken measures to surpress such illegal (albeit harmless) trading activities of their civilian sectors amongst eachother. Needless to say, communication between the Ceri and Backhatta are established on short notice as well after going through the mutual contacts in the Zyrka Republic and a new wind of prosperity has arrived. (2 trade agreements for you and as a cherry on top, 25,000 C)

All projects reach conclusion with the substantial boost in funding, the corruption still being a lingering topic, despite the government taking steps to cut it out of the body of the state. The new projects are due in eleven and nine years respectively.

UNITED FEDERATION OF SKELLAR SYSTEMS

Space 10, Tech 5, Eco 10

Population: 11,303,590,953

An emergency council. Though not directly concerned at the moment - the Skellar Fleet lords have been assembled. Many of whom - currently occupied at the moment, unable to make the journey to FleetCom headquarters thus making themselves known via hologram in an elsewise empty chair.

They cut to the chase - whether or not the Skellar would step in to defend their neighbor and trade partner from foreign invaders.

Two factions quickly arose - those wishing to give the Navy a true test of combat and unwilling to stand aside while liberty was being threatened abroad and those who feared that diverting fleet assets would leave Skellar space vulnerable and that the Skellar had no business intervening in the affairs of another.

The Littoral Stellar Control, a term repurposed to highlight the specialized nature of weaving through and patrol occupied systems, highly opposed the notion. The old frigate commander, perhaps senile and driven insane from his senseless stellar acoustic searches, was strict of doctrine - an impish Skellar oldblood by name of Nag’tunga.

The Shipmaster Qetre’vadar vehemently stated his case - that the Adaptaar were necessary to ensure the steady import of metal - to fund the Skellar Naval effort. If they were to falter - it would prove detrimental to the growth of the Federation Navy.

Surprisingly, the Destroyer Flotilla commander, Rear-Admiral Tak’Norng agreed with the Shipmaster. Though opponents in terms of shipbuilding doctrine, their interests aligned in the fact that this neighbor was crucial to the supply of metal that the Forgemasters were in need of so desperately.

With perhaps the two most high ranking Stellar lords joined together in this meeting, it wasn’t long until the ‘junior’ officers fell in line, leaving the pacifist movement scarce for words.

Indeed, the Secretary-General of the Skellar Federation was most inclined to heed the advice of the interventionists - thus issuing a formal offer to aid to the Adaaptar.

To comprise a competent, well-rounded battlegroup - several more ships would need to be constructed. An immense portion of the budget is set aside to accommodate the expansion of the Skellar Destroyer Flotilla.

The Republic of Galaron

Date: 620 AR (2210AD)

The Grand Assembly, the governing body of the Republic of Galaron.

Located in the unoriginally named Galaron city the official seat of the Grand assembly was a large room about 100 meters by 60 meters.

In this room there were a total of 280 seats spread out in a half circle. All of the seats pointed in the direction of a similair half-circle based platform. There there was a stand for any politician proposing a bill to stand, and next to him a stand to those who were opposing the bill. With a small booth to the side where the 'Alliros’ made sure all rules of the Grand Assembly were complied with, whilst next to the Alliros a Magistros kept record of everything officially said in the room.

Normally it was a calm place, of rational non-emotional debate. Where there was a strict formality and everybody acted respectfully to each other. Where even raising one's voice too hard could result in a harsh reprimand from the Alliros.

What no one had expected was that the assembly would be shouting to each other and mumbling to those next to them. There was almost utter confusion, no sense of direction, no sense of what they should do. Thus the Alliros did something that had not been done for decades.

The harsh sound of a gavel slamming on wood cut through the shouting and murmurs of the Assembly and all eyes turned to the Alliros, a female Galaronian of about 58 years old. A pair of glasses perched on her beak, which was now trembling in frustration and annoyance. Then she spoke.

"Gentlemen and women. I would ask of you to please keep your beak and comply with normal protocol. Now as decreed by protocol 26A the Alliros may give the Grushdal the right to speak to the crowd without being interrupted by individuals the Assembly for a duration of 10 minutes. Grushdal Xulina you may take to the podium ”

The sight of the normally stoic Alliros being frustrated like this finally brought the Assembly back in order. Now watching as the Grushdal took to the Podium and stood behind a stand. The Grushdal slowly breathed in and out, knowing that the eyes of the entire Republic were on her. In and out.

"Gentlemen and women. We are now faced with something that has only been theorized before. The prospect that we are not alone in the galaxy.

What has only been theorized or specialized before has come true. Confirming both our greatest fear and hope.

The Grushdal breathed in and out again

"It is now a fact that we stand on the precipice of a new era. An era of great opportunity or despair. An era of possible adventure and danger. An era where there can be great peace

The silence hung eerily quit for a moment.

"Or great war.

But in all this I know one thing with certainty.

The Grushdal looked around the room for a moment, meeting the eyes of the assembled representatives and then into where the camera for the public to view the proceedings were.

"I know that the people of Galaron will not be found wanting. We will go into this new era with beaks raised. We will look the dangers of the galaxy eye to eye and say 'we will stand against you. We will be the light of hope, reason and civilization in this galaxy. And even if we may fall we will never ever back down’.

The Grushdal breathed in and out again, letting the silence hang for a moment before receiving a great applause from the Assembly. Both from her own supporters and from the opposition. For now was a time to show unity. Then she fixed her tie and spoke in a more calm voice.

"Now to briefly recap the course of events so that we know what course of action we must take. At 0915 in the morning we woke up with an unfamiliar personage in our system. A galactic merchant going by the name of mr Tozikob. He offered a wide range of goods.

Our chief diplomat Ulasi Erukai managed to negotiate a trade deal in which we sold our excess fuel in return for the schematics for a type of advanced armor and a map of this quadrant of the galaxy.

Behind the Grushdal a large screen was activated showing the map aquired from the merchant.
"
As you can see there are a total of 7 'neighbours’ so to speak. One of these is very close to us, about 4 sectors North from Galaron itself. The other six are at varying distances between us but our greatest worry should be this neighbor to the North. Especially as it occupies a far greater area of space than us.

"In the light of this informatoin I propose the reinstatement of the Army of Galaron, a rapid expansion of our fleet and the fortification of the systems of Galaron and Barun”
There was more discussion after this of course. But for once in the recent history of the Assembly a bill was passed with unanimous support.

Galaron would be prepared for the future.

Sol Empire
mUcHWzp.png
2211

Nina stood before a group of cameras, her ceremonial outfit held a golden halo that was held between both shoulders representing a sunrise. The ‘armored’ set she was was blue with golden stripes.

Children of Gaia, my brothers and sisters. This conflict has found its way home, as the Ascardian Principate landed forces in Madagascar..after our brave naval forces made their way home they made short work of the weakened fleet courtesy of our brave men and women stationed above earth and upon the Lunar Defenses.

When the enemy realized their failure to hold an advantage..the cowardly ascardian commanders deployed nuclear warheads against our civilian populations and abandoned their own soldiers to die. Reports...indicate that over two hundred million men..women and children are dead due to this attack. No communication has been successful with the Ascardian Principate but we have sent a clear message!

Again and again, despite their superior naval technology our captains and admiralty strike against them again and again! Proving that our people despite what one could call a disadvantage have proved superior! This race strikes at us with fear because they know what we can become. Their failure to cripple and destroy our unwavering spirit will be their downfall!

We will strike back and bring the war to them, but for now we must remain cautious and vigilant. To ensure another incident such as this doesn’t happen again we will be expanding our naval efforts. We will match their naval capacity and ensure that justice is brought to the millions of souls that now rest in Gaia’s care.

Turn 11

Year 2211

Quiet. Very quiet.

Tjieran Unitary State

Albeit there is nobody showing up from the foreign vessels, the exploration ships do actually manage to find a sector where they have some presence. Mining corporations and civilian vessels go about their daily routine, as the Tjieran Exploration ships show up. No hails are being exchanged, the Tjieran ships mostly ignored. A little while later, a couple of destroyers show up and warn the Tjieran ships off by target locking, but nothing else happens.

Thanks to the substantial investment, the Tjieran Research Division is glad to report that they might be able to finish the Fusion Engines by 2212. That should bring new wind into the sails of their ships, both army and civilian. Or more oomph into their engines.

UNITED FEDERATION OF SKELLAR SYSTEMS

The Holy Adaptaar Commonality, after a year of defeats does now formally request assistance of the Skellar and Libellans both. They are hardpressed for material and currency, as the metal exports have ceased, but they hope they can repay any potential debts in the future.

On the research front no particular news, with the Battleship Hull design coming a year earlier, as well as the Fusion Reactor technology reaching completion approximately two years earlier. It is eerily quiet.

Oddly enough, an unannounced visit from a ship belonging to a never before heard from faction appears in the Skellar home system. A simple freighter, quite clean actually, has a very hairy captain (going by visual data he is transmitting), who is intent to make deals. Whilst aggressively spamming ads on a broad range of radio frequencies he keeps rambling about that he has the best deals. He got deals alright? And the wants to make deals with the Skellar, who, he apparently understands completely fine, and whose primary language he apparently speaks fluently. Odd fellow. He got deals, you know.

The Republic of Galaron

The exploration vessel, albeit cataloguing and archiving all the systems in those sectors find very little that would be noteworthy in terms of resources. However, they have found quite a few habitable worlds with various degrees of flora and fauna, one of the world even inhabitated by dinosaurs, giant reptilians that once roamed the homeworld of the Galaron as well, until an ice age caused them to go extinct, due to the scarcity of plants to eat.

The engineering department examines the possibility of designing and testing a shipclass that would classify as something of a Heavy Cruiser and returns with the notion that they’d need roughly twenty years to complete such a feat. The specifications of a ship in that size are naturally on a whole new level and a lot of the groundwork for spaceships needs to be redone. On a lighter note, they are glad to report back that the gravity plates are fully functional and already civilian companies have begun massproducing them to distribute them on all crafts available. That should easen up things.

Zyrka Republic

Given how extensive the list of projects being conducted is and how many kilograms of paper the Republic burns on technology reports alone, a chief science officer of the research department of the nation simply states following:

Project 1, three years earlier. Project 2, three years earlier. Project 3, six years. Project 4, six years. Project 5, five years. Project 6, thirteen years.

The anti corruption campaign just trails off into nothingness. Without funds to pay the inspectors to find and fight the corrupted ones, how does that work? In fact it might even be likely the investigation teams were corrupted themselves, paid with corrupt money, since they were not paid with clean money to find the corrupt money. This is so complicated.

Sol Empire

Following the destruction caused by the Ascardian invaders, all forces of the Empire are united in their pursuit of strengthening it. They are thoroughly analyzing all data gathered, trying to crack the encryption of the Ascardian ships, trying to learn their language too and so on and so on. The engineers and scientists report back that they will have a ready and capable Light Cruiser design in three years at the soonest. They are pulling all strings, examined the Support Carrier inch by inch, analyzed all data and continued to utilize all currency and resources available to them.

The genetic makeup of Ascardians is shockingly similar to Humans. Albeit some differences in their genes, the chromosome count matches, many markers are so closely related, without knowing they are from two different species, one would not guess they were. This brings up the question to more than a handful of biologists, are Humans and Ascardians different species in the first place? How did man come to be? Was he brought here by someone else? Was life, specifically Human life seeded on Earth by a higher power?
