THE MITROVIC EMPIRE

Image result for komnenos dynasty coat of arms

A thin plume of smoke rose from the tiny campfire in the middle of the clearing, as three miserable figures huddled around its meager warmth. Three horses stood, tethered, at the edge of the clearing. Like their riders, they huddled together for comfort.  A dreary, light drizzle – too light to quench the minute fire, but heavy enough to seep through clothes to chill the bones – fell from the overcast sky.

Marcela looked to the small figures huddled beside her. She whispered soothingly to them. “We’re close to Samalstraza every day, it won’t be long now.” She wrapped her cloak around them, pulling them in close to her. Suddenly, the horses began to neigh, moving anxiously in their tethers. Three heads turned to them is surprise – and fear. Marcela gripped a long bladed knife tightly in her hand, easing it from the scabbard as a ragged looking pair of men stepped into the clearing.

Rough, commoner’s clothes made up their attire. On the left, one had a long butcher’s knife thrust through his belt, while the man on the right had a crude looking falchion, crusted with rust. The pair grinned as they took in the horses, the fine attire and the women. “What ‘av we ‘ere?” The bigger of the two sniggered, resting his hand on the machete. The smaller man mimicked the laugh, tugging the butcher’s knife from his belt – small weasel eyes focused upon Marcela.

The pair began moving across the clearing, towards the huddled group. Marcela waved the knife threateningly in front of her, but the big man simply laughed and – as he reached her – struck her hard with the back of his hand. The elderly woman flew to the ground, landing on her knife with a sickening crunch. The little man looked up at his master. “What’cha do tat fer, Marv?” Marv shrugged, instead reaching out and grabbing the Iuliana’s cloak, tearing it back and letting the long, black hair tumble free. “Who cares?” he sneered. He glanced at Valeriu. “Hold the boy, it’ll be his turn soon enough.”

Both Iuliana  and Valeriu began to scream – loudly – but it was cut off with harsh blows from the pair of thugs. Marv began to drag Iuliana towards the trees, as Valeriu let out an ear splitting scream – “No!” – and a burst of golden energy exploded through the smaller man’s chest, lighting the clearing with a bright glow before subsiding and the smaller mugger dropped to the ground, a cauterized hole the size of two fists punched harshly through his sternum. The stink of burned flesh filled the air.

Marv let go of Iuliana and began to back away, terror upon his face. He ran back through the trees – the way he came. An hour later, Petar returned to bury his wife.

Crimson Order of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen

The swampy marshes around the capital of Lindenbaum had long since been drained. Now fertile fields surrounded the city in a patchy network of farms. But the far bigger trade of this land was hosting the various Free Companies. They flocked to the Capital like flies to a corpse, all looking for sustenance. The main contracts a Free Company could appeal for were twofold. The more common one was a contract with the Crimson Army itself. The other and most coveted was a foreign contract. Provision and pay in a foreign army, with the chance to loot. And more importantly avoid the insanely harsh Captains of the main army. For a while now the Lord Commander and Great Captains had been hesitant to expand the main army. They were more pockets to fill, and men to arm. But recently a small industrial leap had ensured funds for the Council. And so, the Contracts are posted across the entire Duchy.

The first Free Company to get a major contract was a peculiar one. A full one thousand five hundred of them had been signed in a massive deal. The Serek Hounds were a poor but fierce Free Company. They lived in the deepest recesses of the Swamps, and fought accordingly. In stark contrast to the Golden Lances who were wardens of the Wulff Swamps, the Hounds simply lived there. Their expertise however was in ranged weapons, and using a variety of weapons. Not to mention they fought Sereks, some rumored to be seen even fighting with just their hands! These men will be given the newly conceived Crossbows for use. They will also be trained in the arts of melee combat. The Crimson Strings had just been formed as an official army branch.

manage.png

As the armies ranks swell, so to does the industry to match it. The need for ever more ores, food, and manpower is keenly felt. Ever since the alleged Mer’ak attacks on the Capital, the Lord Commander has been on edge. And it is in the idea of protecting itself that the Order is hiring so many of it’s own Free Companies. As the factories and regiments at home shape up, thousands march to war with the Mitrovic Empire. The Black Guard were notoriously cruel and elite troops. They were taking great fun in the purging of the Ascendancy.

*Wilfried Schaus celebrates his fifteenth birthday as a quiet affair. Tucked away in a dismal Inn deep within Aldemar’s complex weave of districts. In a damp room with a likely girl, they share a steak bought from the market. He did not take much joy in it. He had wealth, but dared not spend it lavishly.  He had moved several times, trying to keep a low profile. Though he had stolen enough, alongside his own funds, he was not content. But it was very clear the Aldemari Civic Guard were nothing like the Order’s own lax provincial militia. Simply stealing until he was caught and hung would not do. So he stashes his funds across a few banks, keeping the stolen items to slowly pawn off to avoid suspicion.

*This year he will focus on what he hopes to me a slightly less blatantly illegal affair. He begins traveling to the farming hubs in the outer city. There he hopes to pick up seasonal work across several farms. More importantly he slowly but surely tries to win peoples trust and find any minor gambling or horse racing syndicates operating in the outer areas. Being a genuinely good person and wanting to make lasting connections, the young Schaus tries to see if he can find small time criminal allies to take him under their wing. He uses some extra gold from his stashes to grease the wheels.

The Choranic Empire

latest?cb=20160610191723

“A thing of beauty, is it not General?”

“Certainly, though I worry what it means for our journey,” Marduniya responded. The two stood outside their neighbouring tents, marvelling at the meteor blazing through the night sky overhead.

“I would not,” counselled Gaumâta, High Maguš and leader of the expedition. “A streak of glorious light? I do not need to be a priest to see this is the blessing of the Ahura on our journey.”

“I put my faith in your wisdom, Gaumâta, as do we all,” the General conceded. They may have both been held in the same regard by the Šāhān Šāh, but the leader of the Choranic priests was better placed to know about such things. Marduniya’s gaze returned to earth and across the camp which had been set up for the winter. They had come to rest at the base of some hills just beyond the edge of the far-side of the Olk-Wood – further afield than any Choranic general had taken troops before. The men slept for now, but the many carts of the expedition had been loaded with their supplies.

“I eagerly await the resumption of the expedition,” Marduniya said to a still star-gazing Gaumâta, breaking the momentary silence. “I have sensed a restlessness among the men for some time.”

“As do I. But there is no cause to rush – accuracy and safety are paramount. We have been wise to wait til spring.”

Despite his veiled complaint, Marduniya did agree. Crossing the unknown hills and mountains that stood before them in the midst on winter would have brought death and disarray. Now that it was getting warmer, they were to head north in the morning, continuing along the Olkvein and then crossing the hills.

“What do you believe we may find out here?”

“I could not say, though this omen gives me faith that we are bound to find something of significance. Even if not, we are here to chart the lands beyond the Olk-Wood – the expedition will still remain successful,” the Maguš affirmed.

“Assuredly,” Marduniya agreed. “For now though, I had better retire to my tent. Tomorrow will doubtless bring challenges I will need sleep for.”

“Rest well then, general,” Gaumâta bade as the general passed through the flap. After checking the general was settled, he knelt down on the grass, and breathed deeply. As he started by muttering a prayer, his eyes briefly glowed white before they closed, and Gaumâta felt the heavens begin to flow through him.

As the expedition up the Olkvein and beyond resumed, the Šāhān Šāh’s focus diversified significantly. Expansion north continued, with a trade outpost established at the confluence of the Olkvein with the river that flowed south into it through the Olk-Wood itself. A keep is also established between the present Choranic borders and the outpost in order to secure the route to it. With this, the empire’s trade both internally along the Olkvein and with the tribesmen deeper within the forest would be secured and bolstered.

Back down south in the coastal cities, industrial expansion continued. In the capital, commercial workshops are constructed to boost production of wares that the merchants of Kūrahan would be able to peddle in foreign ports. Mines were established in the hills north of Bandar Šapur, for the purpose of supplying the new shipyards being built simultaneously in the city’s ports. With war in the sea raging nearby, Ardašir saw great need to establish a navy.

For similar reasons, the Imperial army also begins training some new recruits and producing their equipment. A thousand Serkhedar and Enjili tribesmen are drawn up as Merdan Jengul, their hunting skills to be put to use against any enemies of the Empire. Furthermore, five hundred men begin training as steadfast infantry.

And in between their duties, the priestly Magi caste continues with their ruminations and experiments with the blessings of Ahura Mihr.

THE AMARANTIC DOMINION

868

With the new year comes news of failure. A surveying expedition sent to the island off the east coast of Amarant is wiped out, save for one man. The loss is unacceptable, but the Conclave – the ruling council of the Dominion, comprised of dozens of magi who adjudicate in the name of the Ascendant on national matters, and keep the uneasy peace between factions – is not inclined to pursue hasty vengeance on what was responsible. Instead, they plan accordingly... and individual factions begin maneuverings to try and benefit their own agendas.

A cohort of Wraith Warriors, the scything blades of the Order of the Shadows, arrive at the coastal city of Lacunas and encamp at their Order’s enclave there. As a city primarily under the auspices of the Order of the Unfathomable, this causes some consternation, but the proper pleasantries are observed... and hurried messages dispatched to the Master in Crucible. Lacunas is the closest city to the island that currently enraptures high society, and the elite killers’ presence could mean that Sothal Za is making a move on the ruins there without the consent of the Conclave.

Antathek Ra has other things on his mind, however. After recieving an extraordinary visitation, and an extraordinary gift, the Master of the Unfathomable devotes his time to consolidating existing power. Nonetheless, the viziers at Lacunas are advised to make moves toward establishing the Dominion’s power along its coasts. He orders the construction of a new shipyard for larger vessels than the fishing sloops that currently slip out of the city’s bay. Soon, hordes of the indentured dead endeavour ceaselessly to dredge out new berths for a future fleet.

The Order of the Divide, arguably the most powerful political faction in the Dominion, is apparently content to rest on its laurels and not interfere too directly in the possible power struggle for the mysterious island – despite the adept sent there being one of their disciples. Shalara Valkoren and her allies in the Conclave adopt the role of peacemaker, soothing tensions and counselling a united response. To the other leaders, this regal aloofness is galling. The only signs of concern on her part are sponsoring the construction of a new mine in the hinterlands, and a manufactory for weapons in Crucible, in the name of the Dominion. Transparently self-serving philanthropy that recieves praise from her sycophants in the Conclave.

Kemet

The ten days of Khepfru’s harvest are rife with portents. I send you my recollections for examinations so that you and the other priests may divine their meaning, should there be any.

May the blessings of the nine gods enlighten the priesthood.

First day of the Khepfru Harvest:
I saw within a blighted wetland a man with a red face. He smiles, and beckons me closer. As I step through the water I feel leeches feed on my blood, and though the man prostrates before me I can see the knife he hides beneath his tunic.

Second day of the Khepfru harvest:
I saw a crowned bull standing in a wide field. Behind a feeble fence another, larger bull looks upon it greedily. Next, the first bull changes to a cow and the milkmaids approach it for their bounty. Yet still the second bull watches waiting for its chance. An impasse?

Third day of the Khepfru Harvest:
I saw a mighty horse resplendent with silvery armour. It strutted proudly around its corral whinnying with pleasure, all the while trampling the bones of lesser horses and mules. A butcher sharpens his golden knives beyond the horse’s view. Neither knows of the other yet.

Fourth day of the Khepfru Harvest:
I saw a thousand noblemen draped in tapestries and praying to foreign gods. While the tapestries are beautiful they depict nonsense and the nobles mimic the words of better men. When I turn my back they change to their true forms as carrion, but remain silent while they watch and wait for their prey.

Fifth day of the Khepfru Harvest:
I saw wooden men swimming upon the waters of a great lake. I asked them “why?” They say it is their right. They show me an empire of water that they command, yet the waters are without islands, and the waves grow higher and more dangerous. They looked to the rising waves, and appeared unconcerned. Are they foolish?

Sixth Day of the Khepfru Harvest:

I saw a mountain and asked for its name. It called itself “Mud” and requested mine in return. I did not answer, but fled from its gaze. Behind the mountain was a hidden city and men who spoke in the language of the stones. They could not see or hear me.

Seventh day of the Khepfru Harvest:

I saw a single fuzzy reed growing in a puddle. The reed wore a crown and laughed at my approach. “Look upon my mighty kingdom!” The land around him was desolate and empty, but still it seemed cheerful. “I have so much room to grow!” It repeated this over and over.

Eighth day of the Khepfru Harvest:

I saw a cat purring upon a tall palm tree. It looked down on me, and asked for an ibis to eat. I caught one for it, and offered it before the cat, but instead of eating it the cat clawed at its throat until its blood covered the whole of the earth. The cat looked to me and said, “Do you have more?”

Ninth day of the Khepfru Harvest:

I saw an old, rusted knife stuck in sandstone. Surrounding it were weeds baring tiny flags. An old man circles it, tugging at his beard thoughtfully. Slowly he transforms into a Jackal and runs up to sandstone, as he now knows what to do.

Tenth day of the Khepfru Harvest:

I saw five men with small eyes gather in a temple. They breathe in the wind, and blow out hot air. I ask them what their power is, and they answer “secrets.” The temple begins flooding but they continue their task while ignoring the rising waters.

Dictated by the blessed Pharaoh Rashmut, recorded by royal scribe Khemritep.

In Akita harbor the enemy floats, and the trade which makes the shogun so rich is stifled. But the sacred mission is not so easily forgotten! As the cowardly enemy refuses to land and face their superiors, a great battle takes place in the harbor itself, and they limp home in fear.

The war will be won, and the question is simply when.

World Events:
Time marches on, a year passes, it is now 869

New regions of the world are breached, and the existence of several unheard of states revealed! (Map update)

Finally, there is good news for Emperor Osmund. After experiencing several years of unstoppable Antramarian armies, led by Lord Tarbus ravaging their lands, his newly raised and massive host is finally able to drive the invaders into the southern Empire, far from the heartlands. Despite this, he has not actually done proper battle with the invaders.

Many ships and merchants sailing to Maeya simply never return, and those that do report a massive Pirate Fleet ravaging the country and the Great Sea as a whole! No word comes from the Maeyanese either, who apparently have their hands full. A footnote in regards to most current events this year.

Pachaqui Kingdom

The expedition into the south faces no danger. The party comes across many negligible hamlets and villages, confirming that the land is not totally devoid of habitation. These villages speak of the Great Empire of Ak to the south, which has prospered along the Dnedic coast for as along as anyone can remember. Despite this, none of the villagers have actually seen anyone from Ak, or been to it.

The weavers begin their work in a most diligent manner. A spell capable of mending broken earth, or sealing large cracks, gashes, or impurities will be ready for the year 872. (t2)

Samalstraza

Nim Peradin will be prepared for the year 872 (T3)

Both Abed-Lamu and Runi Abda make good progress in deciphering the Midlandic disdain for various other magical arts. It seems that this disdain is rooted in both a common cultural and religious background present throughout the whole of the midlands. Such belief stems from the idea of a singular and all powerful entity responsible for the creation of the Mantle and Firmament bestowed the boons of Pure Magic (Direct) upon his chosen successors, while the other various forms were grown and twisted from the original strain.

Stranded thousands of miles from the Inner Sea, it seems the Atemic warlords have grown particularly prejudiced against the common Aterite. Naturally, they blame the collapse of the Far East upon the natives, and viciously hold onto whatever chunk of it they occupy. Aetan, Arnun, and Alean, the most notable three all claim the majority of Ater. Though if they have any designs on actually reclaiming it, is unknown.

Kingdom of Ardes

Many Ardesian intellectuals and engineers begin to theorize how they might be able to better plan or manage such a sprawling city. Obviously, the growth of cities is very organic, resulting in few central streets surrounded by mazes of alleys and back routes. Some suggest completely rebuilding the capital, others believe less radical corrections can be made. One thing is for certain though, If Ardes is to become a truly great city, much will have to be done in the way of sanitation, infrastructure, and great works.

Mitrovic Empire

The invasion of the Ascendancy continues without further troubles, besides the Ascendants themselves.

The various aspects of the Imperial Army will be able to provide, horses, armor, and training sufficent enough to field Heavy Cavalry by the year 874

Chicahtoc Empire

The Shaman report that they will be capable of casting a somewhat long lasting curse, which causes flares of horrible pain at random by the year 872 (t3)

Crimson Order

Wilfried has no issues in finding work on farms outside the walls of Aldemar. Never to turn down more productivity, one of the many large estates hires the man, giving him a livable but meager wage, as well as lackluster housing. In regards to gambling, he discovers soon enough that many of the other farmhands spend their nights gambling within the many establishments in or near Aldemar. Though he uncovers no criminal allies, he makes a number of friends and a small amount of gold.

The Order simply does not possess the infrastructure nor expertise to even begin to design such a warship.

Kurausahr

From the Graveyard of Stars and the Khuryshk Tribes who dwell within it, flows great riches. With the majority of control over the two major arteries to the south, the Choranic find themselves hailed by many Khuryshk traders and caravans, who offer heaping portions of ‘Meterite’ in exchange for letting their goods pass through freely. (+1 Unit of Meterite annually, +4,000g annually)

The priests speculate that such a spell will be ready for widespread casting by the year 872

Kastovia

The various miners and mine owners theorize and draw up contraptions or new devices to make their work easier, but nothing seems to offer a significant improvement. It seems there is no more efficient way to extract ore from stone.

Kastovia will have the appropriate skills and technology to field heavy cavalry by the year 873

Perasmani League

Only days after leaving the Harbor of Akita, storms and other turbulent weather begins to flare up once more. Through the poor visibility, the fleet catches sight of the Ishikawan frigate giving chase! It strikes the only viable target in such weather, the weakest Carrack,  but the weather does not allow it to completely sink the vessel. However, the ship still sustains damage. (Previously damaged Carrack confined to port for 1 year for repairs)

Off the coast of the Eastern isles, several fishermen report seeing strange ships with purple sails.

The new ammunition, far from accurate, and with a lackluster range, but capable of dealing fair damage to sails will be prepared for deployment by 874

Amarantic Dominion

Strange times indeed, visions and lost expeditions. Many slaves report seeing a strange vessel, lateen rigged and with purple sails off the coast.

Kemet

The great nation of Kemet will be capable of deploying Heavy Cavalry by the year 872!

The men are at first puzzled by the weed. They find it to be an excellent source of crimson and orange dye, but any application is for the most part unknown until one night one of the men simply decides to eat it. At first he experiences a potent and bitter taste, accidently knocking his candle over in disgust. Much to his surprise, as it lands on his arm, he feels no burns, he checks his skin, and he has not burned! It seems that consumption of the weed at least grants temporary fire resistance, perhaps there are even more applications, who knows?

The scouts find the Holy Nation to be either largely forested, or open plains, less notably, the roads and fields are littered with statues and monuments to their prophet. They experience little trouble roughly mapping it, that is, when they aren't under pursuit. In regards to pillaging, they face some difficulty, as responses are usually swift, however they make off with at least some booty (+2,500g)

Grand Principality of Rostukhov

What are they hunting for, many wonder…

Ishikawa Shogunate

Akita under blockade? The Shogun’s coffers wince in pain!

The smiths are hard at work, but they lack any real funding and come to the shogun with no finish date.

================================

The Chicahtoc first real expansion with no means of bloodshed was appalling to High-General Tlani, a historic occasion to see a large keep constructed in the vast hills on the western reaches of the nation. It was however a desperate measure as food supplies were being literally stretched to their maximum. Eagerly hundreds of low-caste citizens begin to move west in an effort to secure land for their future.

Incidentally this caused a massive growth of the village of Locolo, thousands of people inhabiting it forming a large town. This however strained the already crippling food supply in the west putting great pressure on the eastern farm lands.

Tlania being quite isolated from the capital of Chica constructs its own six civilian manufacturers to compete with their growing capital’s economic superiority.

Year 869

“The Grand Empire of Ak.” the young King drums his fingers on the armrest of his throne of stone in the central palace hall of Osocchi Appachaqui. “Well, we must explore and learn about them. Knowledge can be power I assume. But on the other hand, it is also to greet these people as friends. Peace and prosperity is what Mama-Pacha is giving us to live by. And we shall praise her and grow her gifts as well.” Both the Archpriest Solameqan and his friend Retainer Tuqua remain quiet. “Thonaqan!” bellows the warmistress from the foot of the pedestal. She has always been a rough one. And not very comfortable with court etiquette. But she was a great warrior and the King respected that. Though in such a commanding voice, she could be a pain more often than not. “Yes, warmistress?” – “I want my warriors. It has been a year already and I have not seen a single Quti flowing into my armies! I need strong and proud warriors, many, to defend us and the name of Mama-Pacha!” – “Your eagerness is a pleasant sight, Warmistress, but the King-“ Solameqan begins, before being interrupted by King Thonaqan himself. “You will have your warriors. Whilst our mission remains peace, we must be wary, for there are those that seek war.” He pauses and awaits a reaction from Theaqui. She simply nods with a gruff noise and stomps out of the palace.

“Master of Coin.” the King idly waves. Quickly one of the previously quiet people in the room approach. It was the Master of Coin Montoquo Asumchi, a diligent, albeit incredibly dull fellow. It was all numbers with him. “See that the Warmistress receives her Quti.” – “Yes my liege, at once my liege.” the Master of Coin replies hastily, bowing a few times, before shuffling out. “Now, Master Archpriest. A new realm approached us for trade? They are called...?” – “They call themselves the Amarantic Dominion. Whilst trade might be beneficial and good for the gift of prosperity, I advise caution. They worship a dark power and dabble deep in the powers of the unholy necromancy, tainting the gift of life from Mama-Pacha.” Thonaqan remains quiet for a while. Tapping his chin for minutes at a time. “My liege?” – “Allow their merchants in.” – “But the thre-“ – “Ties, but lose ties. For now. Is that all?” the King adds in response.

“No, my King. One last matter of utmost importance. You are not wed yet.” – “And in honesty, I don’t think you’d want a wife such as the warmistress, despite her strength.” adds Tuqua in jest. As a lifetime friend of the King he was allowed such jests, although he does earn misgiving stares from the court for that. King Thonaqan could not help but smile at the joke. “Yes, Archpriest. It is a subject you have brought up thirty-five times in the past two years. Send a missive to the neighbouring realms, announce that the King seeks a marriage. All benefits included.” Thonaqan waves off in a tired way. It has been a long day and there was still much on his mind. “Now then, dismissed.” The two companions as well as the court bows and leaves, leaving the King behind on the throne atop the pedestal in the great palace hall of Osocchi Appachaqui, the city of the skies.

Actions:

As per decree of the young King, new farmland must be prepared to acommodate the growing demand of food by the steadily growing population. So far the Chimuquera had no issue with their nutrition, but the King does not intend to have it become a matter. (-18,000 Quti for 4 farms)

As the population grows, the King orders to establish a first town in the riverbend on the halfway point between the new keep and the city. It is important to secure a foothold in this new land, and whilst there are already people living there further south, there is enough room. That aside, he has plans. (-13,500 Quti for 1 town; Map to follow)

To the East, the Pachaqui begin to manifest their destiny by constructing two new keeps on the frontier. Primarily it is meant to consolidate their hold on the land properly. (-16,000 Quti & 4 AP for 2 Keeps; Map to follow)

Under the warmistress’ guidance, the Pachaqui Kingdom begins to train and arm an additional 1,000 men. 500 of them shall be warriors, whilst the other 500 shall assume their roles as Plumed Archers. They will be equipped with the highest quality of equipment the Kingdom has to offer and add to the force that is capable of defending the interests of the Chimuqueran people. (-8,000 Quti, -1 AP for 500 T3 Regular Infantry; -6,000 Quti, -1 AP for 500 T3 Plumed Archers)

Three more Civil Districts are constructed in the Capital in order to promote economic growth for the Kingdom. (-20,250 Quti for 3 Civil districts)

Retainer Tuqua is ordered to arrange for a meeting with the chiefs of the villages and hamlets in the South. (Mod)

The Kingdom of Pachaqui, in the name of King Thonaqan Micchuqui, sends out missives to the surrounding realms, specifically to Antramar, Kastovia, Aldemaric League, Tomuk Oburakai, Ardes, Ishikawa, Crimson Order, Mitrovic Empire and Krolestwo. The missive inquires and invites regarding the potential of a marriage of a suitable princess to the King, who is still unwed to this day. Negotiations may take place in regards to this. (Everyone)

The remaining Quti, rectangular chips of gold are being stored in the treasury of Osocchi Appachaqui, in order to save it for the coming year, where coin might become much more needed. (-500 Quti)

As the impaling spikes spell is concluded the next project for the priests of the Chimuquera is to elaborate on a spell that may mend cracks and damages in stone, as well as reinforce it against impacts and further damage through tremors, impacts and other less mundane means. Reinforce Stone and Earth shall it be named. (Passive, started 868, due in 872 as T2)

Past:

In the meantime, the Archpriest Solameqan orders the exploration of the gifts of Mama-Pacha, the powers she has bestowed upon the Chimuquera. The subject shall be the rapid formation of rock spikes out of the ground in a straight line from the caster, to impale approaching enemies. Whilst it seems cruel, it is essential that the Chimuqueran people have the means to protect themselves properly. (Passive study, year 4, due 868; now concluded)

Crimson Order of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen

Across the Order the ambitions of their military can be seen. What was once a trickle of recruitments, is now a widespread campaign. In every major city and town Captains set up shop. Hundreds of soldiers from dozens of Free Companies line up to ‘Take the Crimson’. They are all officially being swept under the centralized umbrella of the Order itself. The Crimson Army served the Lord Commander and his Great Captains. They were not small entities, beholden to a single Captain and their companies wealth. Instead they serve the state as a whole, and are trained to do it well. This year marks a massive expansion of the Free Company Soldiers, the core of the Army.

Besides the growing of the army, little much is happening within the Realm. The Duke and his family continue to strengthen their bonds to the Capital. After the Civil War, they were some of the only powerful Nobility left. And it was in their name the Crimson Order ruled. But one thing was clear, the Duke was a mouth piece. Across the realm more and more control is being exerted. All leading on paved roads back to the Capital and Central State. The Free Companies roaming the land looking for fights and employment seemed to be a dying breed. With the modernization of the land, stability was more and more certain. Less so was the need for large armed bands of disloyal men.

f14af734410c960f5550c08ca8ee8611.jpg

One thing was certain after the attacks of Dark Spawn on the Capital. A ever present need for more defense. Aldemar was seen as the only truly stable and non aggressive entity near the Order. The Mitrovics while a friend, were increasingly more expansionist and Imperial. Mer’ak had it’s own plagues, and were the alleged host of the attacks on the Order. And it is as such several Great Captains are tasked with border defense. Across the realm garrisons supplemented with Army regulars will travel the land, securing it.
