In Akita, a much-publicized duel is held between Commander Onishi of the shogun’s navy and a particularly rude Perasmani prisoner. Besides smelling terrible, the captured sailor takes every opportunity to insult his rightful overlords and to proclaim his combat prowess. Yet Onishi soon puts this to the test!

It soon becomes clear that the prisoner, like all Perasmani, is all bluster. In the first ten seconds of the fight, Onishi expertly evades his clumsy attacks, hacks off both hands, and burns him to a crisp with a powerful blast of fire. It is generally agreed on Awashima that if all cheesemen are like this, the war will not last much longer.

THE AMARANTIC DOMINION

869

After a year of embarassing setbacks, the Dominion asserts its will on the ruined, foggy isle off its coast. With the monstrous interlopers vanquished, Sothal Za, Lord of the Shadows, declares its annexation. In the coming years this place will be adequately garrisoned and fortified, but for now a token guard force remains. In an unusual display of good will, Za – whose expedition consisted of forces of Shadow and Divide – extends an invitation for scholars from the nearby Unfathomable city of Lacunas to aid in the investigation of these strange ruins. The victorious Lord of the Shadows returns to his temple in Crucible.

The joint investigative forces of the Orders descend upon the strange island. Who knows what they will discover.

Meanwhile, Antathek Ra and his disciples continue to ponder and feed their gift from the Beyond.

A fish in a pond does not know of the Sea
---

World Events:
Time marches on, a year passes, it is now 870

In Antramar, a great celebration is held by order of King Savos. The event will celebrate the passing of yet another decade and the prosperity brought on by his reign. Arguably the most entertaining of the festivities will take place in the royal arena, where the acclaimed fighter Goroslav Kalchik is to battle along with many other contestants. Invitations are extended to all realms. [Everyone]

The Midlands lets out a sigh of relief. The armies of Lord Tarbus withdraw south out of the Empire, returning to Antramar proper for festivities, leave, resupply, or otherwise. Whatever the reason, the Emperor Osmund receives much needed breathing space. The war has clearly begun to weigh heavily on the aging monarch, and several rumors begin to spread of his deteriorating health.

Despite the ongoing conflict in the Sea of Chtor, the Dohocan Families fund a series of expansion throughout the whole region.

A Wyomian farmhand by the name of Ragus, fortunate enough to know how to read write has compiled a list of illustrations and descriptions of local fauna as well as weather and farming techniques. Despite being written by a farmhand, many learned men have deemed the collection to be surprisingly accurate. Following his excellent work, one of the many Stewards places the man in charge of a small farm. Unprecedented.

The war in Chtor develops no further. After a surprising performance from the what was once assumed battered Atemic remnant, the Warlord Aeton extracts hefty concessions from the Aldemaric, Dohocans, and Wyomians. Following his unexpected victory, Aeton proclaims himself Tetrarch of the Far East, and once more lays claim to the whole of the former empire. The blockade is lifted.

Chicahtoc Empire

Many of the priests and shamans report strange omens and signs. On the birth date of Chicahtoc II, a bright red comet was allegedly seen burning across the night sky towards the west! (Discord)

Pachaqui Kingdom

The various chiefs, governors, stewards, and magistrates heed Tuqua’s call, and a meeting is arranged at Pachaqui’s southern territory. (Discord)

No response regarding the marriage comes from the lands of Antramar nor the Aldemaric League, however from the various tribes of Tomuk Oburakai several speakers and ambassadors arrive to further discuss the venture

Crimson Order

Herr Schaus continues his adventure. Throughout the many nights of playing and gambling, Schaus starts to become quite good at the trade, and time and time again he wins his fair share of games. His rise begins to draw the attention of a man known as Castor, who takes a liking to the young man, and offers to take him with him to Antramar for the year’s festivities.

Trebuchets will be ready for the year 872

Kurausahr

Heavy Infantry will be prepared for 876 at the current level of investment

A mighty task and a noble cause, the blessing Sahadat az Mihr will be properly woven and prepared for the year 874.

Many hunters and trappers, familiar with traveling at least short distances into the Olk-Wood report a certain intangible strangeness. The wildlife seems to be extra alert and on edge, additionally it seems far more easily frightened. On top of such peculiar behavior, the same parties report unknown lights and movement within the forest.

Grand Principality of Rostukhov

A mostly uneventful year for the Grand Principality. Reports are received of a continued presence of Knights within the Shield, as well as an invitation to the celebrations within Antramar.

Kingdom of Ardes

An ambassador from Antramar arrives, he brings an invitation addressed to Konrad III of House Karovid from his Royal Majesty Savos Mactova, King of Antramar, inviting him and many other Ardesians to join him in celebration of his rule.

Off the coast of the kingdom, many merchants and fishermen sight strange vessels, flying purple sails. When asked to recall the designs or insignia, they seem strangely familiar.. (Discord)

The Mitrovic Empire

Another year marches by, there is peace in the homeland, and war to the west.

Kingdom of Kastovia

King Sigismund IV of Kastovia is brought news from Antramar, inviting him and whatever retinue he decides to bring to the Royal Capital of Antramar to join his Royal Majesty Savos Mactova in celebration of his rule.

T3.5 Armor and weapons will be prepared for 878

Perasmani League

Throughout the year, the League’s Ishikawan foes begin to target their various trade arteries from the mainland. Reports say of a large number of frigates attacking trade vessels out of thin air before boarding or out right sinking the vessel with a torrent of flames. Trade is not particularly damaged, but a large shipment of steel from Khrav is lost (-7,500g, -1 unit of steel)

The League’s own acts of piracy along the Midlandic coast are carried out with great success and little opposition from the Orevian Empire or the Kingdom of Khrav. However, there is more than one incidents where they sink or board vessels not headed for Ishikawa, which the Warlord Arnun looks heavily down upon.. (+5,000g)

Ishikawan Shogunate

Reports come from the south of large Perasmani activity off of the Midlandic coast. They raid many ships headed too or from the Ishikawan isles, resulting in many shipments not arriving. Aside from the overall attack on trade, the piracy actions are not significant enough to completely throttle trade from the south. (-15,000g)

The Ishikawan fleet finds much success terrorizing the numerous Perasmani merchants and depriving them of their goods (+2,000)

Kingdom of Rhorric

Beastial form will be prepared for use by 872

Heavy infantry will be available to the kingdom for 873

The ancient tower is rebuilt without much issue by the year’s end

An invitation arrives from the lands of Antramar, inviting the King and his retinue to the festivities taking place across the kingdom.

Samalstraza

In the crypts and tunnels of Samalstraza, darkness is everywhere and only the young aspirant known as Rib pierces it’s veil. (Discord)

The two court Samalstrazi continue to climb up the ranks, experiencing great success in Antramar. So much so that Savos places the advisor in charge of organizing the largest of the years’ festivities.

The Amarantic Dominion

Despite their proximity to the Antramarian Realm, they do not receive an invitation to join King Savos’ festivities.

The Order of the Divide studies the corpses most diligently.. (Discord)

Kemet

Rakh’s Unyielding Hearth (T3) will be prepared for casting by the year 873

The King sat among his peers and other retainers; no special throne, nor pedestal. Confined the Royal Cellars were the King’s trusted friends and advisors, circled around a makeshift pen. The floor was of a craggy old cobble and the chamber damp and humid. The occasional large rat and rundown wooden support beams would lend to one recognizing the venue as a subterranean wing of the Palace of Czanodar. In fact, few knew the under-chambers existed, palace staff included. The area had gone years without repair as evidenced by slightly rotten wood and gnawed at supports. Regardless, it provided ample opportunity for the King Sigismund to run his long sought after boxing ring.

Although the sport was heavily repressed by his predecessor, Sigismund IV sought to roll back the legislation against the game - devising a set of fair, in-house rules with his advisors and issuing them to the public. These set of regulations soon became adopted by rings throughout the country - utilized as a standard to which fair and measurable competitions could be had. Of course, the King did not do this for no reason, having his men personally make rounds to each of the major towns and cities and personally inviting the best fighters to participate in a less-than-known tourney known simply as “The King’s League.”

Two new opponents were ushered in, as the contestants of the previous were either being carried out by gurney or asked to leave as the tight schedule did not permit excessive showboating. The King leaned forward eagerly as the two fighters moved into the pit from either side - a burly, bear-sized man upon his left, and an average yet assured man from the right. No sooner did the bearman offer his opponent a gentlemanly handshake, although followed up by an underhanded blow to his opponent’s jaw. However, the average man saw the strike coming from a mile away, ducking back and delivered a swift knee to the groin.

“Even with house-rules, we’re still playing dirty, hm?” remarked the King.

“Aye.”  remarked Sir Adrian, watching the fight unfold with keen interest.

“Perhaps the rules need some refinement. A universal tell of when to start?” said Lord Dimarczyk.

“Mhm.”

“Perhaps a cow bell?” asked Adrian.

“Yes, that’ll do-”

“Your Majesty.” a voice said, repeating the phrase and approaching. A man shoved his way past crowds of spectators, .halted by knights of the Royal Guard. The King bid his protectors to stand down and promptly let the man through.

“What is it?”

“From the King of Antramar - a letter.”

“Is that so?” Sigismund took hold of the scroll and unfurled it without further thought, skimming over the contents of the note. “Hm.” he said, ripping the parchment in two.

“Your Majesty - mind I ask what it read?”

“Merely an invitation to stroke Savos’s ego,” he spat, two halves of the letter falling to his feet. “A grand festivity to celebrate himself.”

As he did so, the bear man had been knocked straight off his feet, hitting his head upon the stone ground with a thud. A wince followed from the King as the nearby spectators burst into an uproar - those who placed their bets scrambling to collect their dues - gold practically exploding from pouches and falling to the ground as men trampled each other. “Besides, I’d much rather be here.”

The Choranic Empire

Ardašir, Šāhān Šāh, listened eagerly as his chamberlain read out the report from the northern expedition. Gaumâta and Marduniya’s travels had taken them beyond the source of the Olk-Vein, into a land that the natives referred to as the Graveyard of Stars. There, at it’s periphery, they had uncovered a place of great interest.

The King of Kings’ brow furrowed as the chamberlain finished. “Is that all?” he asked.

”It is indeed, Šāhān Šāh,” the servant replied. “They say they did not continue, fearing a fruitless endeavour that would cost more lives of good men. He has written a petition to the rest of the Magi that they work on his proposed solution, but for now expresses his wish to wait until that is complete.”

”That is probably for the best,” the King of Kings conceded. “Thank you, you are dismissed.”

Ardašir lent back in the chair of his chamber as the chamberlain diligently bowed and left, ruminating on the words he had heard. Gaumâta’s findings were truly unnerving and deeply heretical, but their distance made them a matter of interest rather than an object of his immediate concern.

More worrying were the many reports of Enjili tribesmen and other hunters seeing some strange happenings in the forest. Normally these things could be dismissed as a peasant eating a mushroom he shouldn’t have, but their number and shared descriptions made them worthy of investigation. It would have to be dealt with, but so did an uncountable number of other matters.

He sighed, then began writing his decrees for the matter. The men most suited for a journey into the forest were those born in it, so five hundred veteran Merdan Jengul are deployed to meet with the woodsmen who reported the problems and see if they could identify them in person.

He rang his bell, and the chamberlain swiftly re-entered the room. Ardašir stamped the decree with the imperial seal, then handed it to the manservant, who again swiftly departed by his master’s will.

The door shut quietly, and the King of Kings slumped in his chair slightly. The crown weighed heavy on Ardašir’s head, but by the Ahura’s will would he bear it.

Chicahtoc Empire

================================

The people of Chica clamor to Chicahtoc II for more places to work and provide for their families in the increasingly calmer time period they live in. Thus over eight more massive buildings are placed around the capital to deal with both the competition from Tlani in the east and the pressure of the people.

An ill omen would need to be answered quite swiftly, in order to cross the great gap of land westward a large cavalry contingent is recruited and trained by the very best. Their orders would be simple come the next year.

============================

Green. Green? Why was this obelisk green thought the emperor as he stood atop the mighty temple of Chica. For the mighty god of pain and blood to strike him in his sleep with such ferocity over this monument must mean is of great importance, could this just be the beginning of these dreams? Estli, his head mage had combed the archives for countless hours after witnessing the great pain his lordship had endured. This was a divine chance to gain the favor of their god assuredly.

Down the long stairwell, an adept was performing a test with his pain-wave on a group of criminals that had been caught for stealing from the square. Their agonizing faces and twitching of the bodies showing it working mildly, Estli would have been proud to see this. Around the man stood a few eagle infiltrators ready to kill the vagrants after the test with their obsidian spears.

Estli came out from behind Chicahtoc II, prompting him to turn about and smile at his most trusted mage. “Any luck investigating the vision that burned my very blood?”

“Nothing your grace, simply more literature about our past incursions when conquering the tribes and the old folk-lore of how we started bending blood to our will.” Estli looked exhausted.

Gingerly Chicahtoc sits down on the steps beneath him and sighs listening to the wailing increase below. “Then we must send out our scouts and learn for ourselves.”

[2 Passive Slot] Curse of Major Pain: The ability to effectively torture someone be it for fun or information could sometimes be done with simple crushing of the physical body but if an adept could bring considerable pain to someone for very extended periods of time… [Long-term curse of crippling pain.] 872 EST.
