“She should have died for me! Her gift was wasted on you!”

World Events:
Time marches on, a year passes, it is now 873

Another year of war and turmoil within the Midlands, and especially the Empire. In the west, the Warlord Aeton’s legions tear apart the country, steadily moving east, their destination is unclear. In the south, Lord Tarbus’ host also fights no major battles against either the Republic, or the contenders to the throne. Instead, the year is spent consolidating the southern portions of the Empire, and driving any Orevian loyalist formations back north. The lion’s share of the conflict takes place in the center of the country, between the Republic and its two largest neighbors. Oros Rellin, intent on crushing the Republican upstarts, marches straight to the capital of Eyowith. His imminent arrival creates panic and confusion in the infant republic, which has only barely begun to organize itself. However, in nothing short of a miracle, Senator Fredrick von Okarstadt, a leading figure of the Republican movement, organizes nothing short of a Corps of infantry, mostly composed of conscripts or his own personal retinue to defend the capital. The battle on its outskirts, is the largest of the war so far, and sees the Republican host decisively beat Oros’ host, sending him limping back to the capital. In the eastern hinterlands, Clade’s army is equally active, storming and seizing the fortress of Varnhold, one of the largest on the continent in only a day.

Far to the south, in the lands of Tomak Oburakai, the Kurultai is finally concluded. Tomorbaatar, the former Oge Khan, and the murderer of Yul, the Great Khan, is almost unanimously elected by his contemporaries. The ascension of Tomorbaatar sees a radical shift in the clans’ lifestyle and the Great Khan proclaims he will restore to the Tomak their ancestral glory, claiming vast swathes of the Jade sea in the process.

Claimed by some to be a revolution in military doctrine and organization, and a desperate attempt to match their foes on the field by others, the Republic of Eyowith implements the first ever instance of mandatory conscription.

An extravagant wedding ceremony and celebration is held in Antramar by the King Savos, solidifying his marriage with the Mitrovic Princess Alexandra, who is now known as Queen Alexandra. The new alliance also sees the Antramarian realm dispatch a sizable host led by Lord Barbus to aid their new Mitrovic allies.

After being refused a governorship, a Wyomian aristocrat by the name of Mol Kjaro unexpectedly seizes an island fortress by the name of Eorealsey and shortly after proclaims himself the Great Thede of Wyom. Despite having no real resources, the island is well known for its resilience. The fortress is one of the largest in the country, and the island itself possesses no suitable terrain for any sort of amphibious landing.

Chicahtoc Empire

To the east…

Pachaqui Kingdom

The day to day work and concerns which come with the position of King weigh heavily on the Archpreiest Solameqan, through these trials, however, come revelations. Occasionally, as Solameqan sleeps, or mediates in the quiet mountains, he sees visions of grandeur. Boundless tracts of nature, great trees, unseen beasts, harmony, tranquility.. (+5 Arcane)

Kingdom of Kastovia

Improvement of infrastructure and public works within Barowitz, is met especially well by the people of the city, especially new fans of “The King’s League” as the projects include many proper facilities to observe the popular sport other than the basements of inns. Monuments, sewers, and other things simply enhancing the city are planned, underway, or desired, but they simply lack funding to truly overhaul the city on a meaningful scale.

Likewise, additions and renovations of the Royal Palace are completed in some areas, but overall suffer from a lack of funds.

The King’s League continues to spread across the Kingdom while other smaller leagues begin to pop up in Ustau, Kropiec, and Turek. Overall, boxing has at least touched every corner of the country, and its following grows by the day.

Amarantic Dominion

Minor Summoning (T3) - The caster summons a minor horror from the Darkn Beyond, its general form is flexible and can be decided by the caster pre-summoning. The horrors are capable of obeying simple commands. Energy requirements dictated by form/size of the horrors. Ready for 875

Ishikawan Shogunate

The *****, Miyata Aiko, arrives in Eyowith without issue and finds it to be a city ripe with passion and turmoil. The rapidly approaching Royalist army throws the city into disarray, many senators and statesmen sent fleeing elsewhere. A perfect set of conditions for one such as her. Quickly, the ***** amasses a crowd of Simps. The greatest catch, however, is not caught until after Fredrick’s victory, where there is great means for celebration, especially among the army. Miyata eagerly and opportunistically digs her claws into Colonel Yannik Bruhns, a commander of nearly 1,000 men.

Heavy armor will be prepared for 876 at current investment

Samalstraza

Runivera’s influence continues to grow in the Antramarian courts, especially with the help of the new Queen Alexandra. With this influence, she actually secures funds necessary to begin/purchase a winery, if she chooses, despite women owning businesses being a rarity in Antramar. Furthermore, her integration into Antramarian factions grows so much so that she actually discovers a plot against the King’s life, quickly alerting him of it.

Ala’s presence in the Midlands is not unfelt, and a reputation quickly begins to form around her with the local peasantry, some even creating cult-like followings praising her as a diety.

It seems the Tomak follow a set of beliefs revolving around worship of Tsi’bri, the Endless Sky, the Infinite Horizon.  They wield the elements.

Samalstraza charts the stars, pioneers in recent years, they are not the first to gaze into the Firmament’s vastness. Their careful observation charts patterns and “constellations” one researcher names such formations of stars according to their general shape.

Mitrovic Empire

War.

Kurausahr

Bedguva Kenad will be ready for 875

Chiefs and petty kings within the Olk-Wood and on its periphery are few in number, many having already assimilated into the Empire itself over the years. The nobles reach those which exist anyhow, and are accepted as permanent envoys, mostly because the tribes have no way to decline.

Grand Principality of Rostukhov

Draining of the bioluminescent liquid into jars or other containers proves to be easy enough, though tedious. Preliminary tests show that such firebombs are indeed hard to quench, though they still have trouble with arranging production, and several mechanical issues in the bombs themselves. Ready for 876

Crimson Order

War.

Ardes

The Eylic Chapter staunchly refuses the offer, stating it is absolutely essential for them to have access to the Great Sea unimpeded by the straits.

Perasmani League

Salazar finds numerous bankers in Aldemar and Dohoca willing to give loans for as much as 40,000g with an interest rate of 10% :goyim:

Year 872

Stressed and a feeling of dismay at his heart, King Thonaqan sits in the hall of stone once again, high in the Chiquimutan Mountains. Offers withdrawn, left without a word or note to reason why. Well, the reason has become clear later on, yes, but nontheless, the young King felt insulted. He has turned thirty just recently, briefly before his return to the Kingdom, after the most inspiring and interesting journey South to the Grand Empire of Ak, where he, albeit being considered not important enough for the Emperor to see him, learned a lot about their past and culture. They were not too different, but apparently a people who preferred to be left alone. Something he would certainly follow up on. “Bring me the warmistress.” he orders one of the present retainers. “I have need of her opinion.”

Days later, the Kingdom proceeds with substantial investments into its military production, many new mines and heavy manufacturing districts cropping up all over the cities, to bolster the capacity for army recruitment. Whilst not necessarily preparing for a war, Thonaqan was wary of the political maneuvering that happened recently, to the West mostly, with Mitrovic, the Crimson Order, now the shifting of powers in the Khanate. The Chimuquera might be threatened soon, and he wanted to be ready. This time, no bird was singing in the window, but only briefly a mountain falcon showed up, holding a mouse in his talons, squirming but unable to free itself. A quiet glance and it flies off again, leaving the busy throneroom behind.

Actions:

As per decree of the young King, new farmland must be prepared to acommodate the growing demand of food by the steadily growing population. So far the Chimuquera had no issue with their nutrition, but the King does not intend to have it become a matter. (-18,000 Quti for 4 farms)

Four new mines are established throughout the city holdings of the Pachaqui Kingdom. Soon they were to dig up additional steel for the army production of the nation. (-18,000 Quti for 4 Mines)

At the same time, four new districts for forging weaponry are established in the same cities. The steel alone wouldn’t be sufficient after all. (-27,000 Quti for 4 Heavy Manufacturing)

Under the Warmistress’ guidance the Kingdom expands drastically on the number of Plumed Archers in service. Six whole new companies are being trained this year around. (-6 AP, -36,000 Quti for 6 T3 Plumed Archer Units)

Some of the funds are used for the expansion of the Civil Districts in two of the cities of the Kingdom. (-13,500 Quti for 2 Civil M.)

The Kingdom of Pachaqui, in the name of King Thonaqan Micchuqui, sends out missives to the surrounding realms, specifically to Antramar, Kastovia, Aldemaric League, Tomuk Oburakai, Ardes, Ishikawa, Crimson Order, Mitrovic Empire and Krolestwo. The missive inquires and invites regarding the potential of a marriage of a suitable princess to the King, who is still unwed to this day. Negotiations may take place in regards to this. (Everyone)

The remaining Quti, rectangular chips of gold are being stored in the treasury of Osocchi Appachaqui, in order to save it for the coming year, where coin might become much more needed. (-3,100 Quti)

Rapid winds can cause duststorms. But instead of relying on winds with the power of will grains of sand might be moved with a lack of them. A magical sandstorm is the goal of the new magical pursuits of the Archpriest, something to conceal movement or hinder enemy advances. (Passive, started 872)

Past Magic Studies:

As the impaling spikes spell is concluded the next project for the priests of the Chimuquera is to elaborate on a spell that may mend cracks and damages in stone, as well as reinforce it against impacts and further damage through tremors, impacts and other less mundane means. Reinforce Stone and Earth shall it be named. (Passive, started 868, due in 872 as T2; now concluded)

In the meantime, the Archpriest Solameqan orders the exploration of the gifts of Mama-Pacha, the powers she has bestowed upon the Chimuquera. The subject shall be the rapid formation of rock spikes out of the ground in a straight line from the caster, to impale approaching enemies. Whilst it seems cruel, it is essential that the Chimuqueran people have the means to protect themselves properly. (Passive study, year 4, due 868; now concluded)

Baldwin IV, King of Ascalon sits on his throne. He ascended to the throne just several years ago after the death of his father. The first several years of his reign had been spent dealing with internal struggles and asserting his claim. Now, with his Kingdom finally stable, Baldwin can look outward. Under his father's reign growth of Ascalon has stalled plagued with internal strife, the Holy Kingdom paid little attention to the world around them. However, that was about to change. Baldwin's nephew, Prince Edward walks toward the throne. Baldwin himself never married, nor produced any children. Deeming himself unworthy, and to repent to GOD he swore to never produce an heir of his own. Instead his sister's son, Edward is his chosen heir.

“Uncle, the Templars have started to marshal their banners once more. His Holiness could mean to call for another Holy Crusade.”  Edward bows his head toward Baldwin, “If this is true, the crown must be ready to answer.”

“Indeed, His Holiness Pius X does intend to rally the people of Ascalon. But he wouldn’t dare without my backing.” Baldwin waves a dismissive hand toward Edward. “He has no reason to justify another crusade. We on the other hand have much to plan.” As Baldwins speaks, the expression on his metal mask remains the same. Many years ago, while he was still Crown Prince. In order to repent to GOD, he decided to hide his face to teach himself humility. “Soon we shall spread GOD’s Light.”

Chitiki

Trying to quietly catch her breath, Margaret clutches her knees in a desperate frenzy. All she can hear is the steady drip of water from stalagmites. In any other situation it could of ben a comforting, steady drip. In any other situation she would be enjoying this wonderful place. The cave systems here were like ones she had never seen before. Fauna and even small life was around every corner, focused around pools of still water. Crevices and cracks could lead one deeper and deeper into the system. Margaret was part of a team of explorers hired by a private mind. The contract had seemed so simple, in the comforts of a Wymon Port. It was a simple job, assemble a team, and investigate a sight. Her husband, Jameson Gallo, was selected to lead the entire endeavor. Their goal was rumors of some place deep in The Shield mountains. Shrouded in mystery, the entire region was an enigma. One of rumor and dark superstition. And so the Gallos had resolved to shed light on the region.

55506.jpg

With the ample funding a small caravan formed around their efforts. Swords were hired, for The Shields were always a dark land. Friends of Mr. Gallo, fellow archaeologist, explorers, they all wanted a piece of the pie. With supplies and finance settled, they set out without further problems. Those were the best days, Margaret reflects. Every night a different Inn, with their fine company. The days breezed by, every night filled with debate about the land they were soon to enter. Many laughed off the more serious undertones of darkness surrounding The Shields. Many chalked it off to beast catching stray wanderers, and left it at that. Others were not so sure, but were sure to sleep with a weapon near.

Soon enough the caravan got a taste of truth. The inns, roads, outpost, they ran out quick enough. Following the Drakken river north, they were met with many sights. Foothills as far as the eye could see to the east, eventually leading to a dominating presence. The Shields was like a literal wall on the periphery, brooding and dark. To the west was the river, a slow and deep affair. The further they got from civilization, the rougher it became. The land was untamed, not a farm in sight. They felt completely alone, besides with the beast. Eventually the caravan reached their turning point. A few dozen leagues south of the Drakken’s fork, they were to finally branch east. East, into The Shields....

Following a few local hunters they had paid, they are led deeper into the foothills. The going becomes very tough, the wagons primarily struggling. After a few days of slogging, they reach where the Hunters have a small camp. They refuse to go any further, citing they have never done so. Now working off purely rumor and speculation, Jameson and Margaret Gallo hold hands and lead their company deeper in. A few days pass by, and they are fully in the Shields. But their situation had grown rougher by each step. Eventually it was decided the Caravan would make camp. Holding the supplies safe, they make a circle. From there the Gallos and their team strike deeper in on horse.

It was very quickly then when the caves were discovered. At first there was only small holes, and little ravines. But as they went further, the amount of openings increased. Soon they passed entire cave entrances, shooting off in every direction. Curious, but resolute, they stuck to their route. Eventually they were however forced to enter the caves. Going ever deeper, the wonder of these places was unknown to human. Strange critters of every size flooded the walls and floors. Moving in hive like manners, scrounging food and moisture from the cave. Staring in wonder, a few of the guards trampled them. Clearing out quickly, the reunite heard for the first time the sound of a chittering mass. Thinking nothing of it besides base instinct, they head a day or two deeper in. One of these nights as her husband lay asleep beside her, Margaret feels something. Like a passing breeze, just a quick prickling of sensation on her skin. But something so.. foreign, that she almost believed she had dreamed it.

89116437a16cee5c3b7d8adfb58ed182.jpg

The next day they reached where even the rumors and speculation ran out. No more fishwives tales of particular caves, or directions. Nothing but their intuition. Resolute, they keep to a series of caves leading deeper into the Shields. Around lunch time, the party makes camp for lunch. With nothing but glowing fauna, and lamps, it was a dim affair. A day ago the last of the natural light had ran out, no more holes breaching the surface. It was then, when they heard that same chittering noice. Like a thousand beetles flying right at them. A few laughed saying they would have to squish a few more. But it became apparent the waves of insects were passing through. At great speed, going right over the people and their lunch. Then it got silent again, everyone staring in wonder at the passing cloud. A few minutes of silence and resume eating continues, before a second noise is heard. This time perhaps a bit more on edge, they huddle up as the men draw their swords.

All they can hear at first is the faint scratching noise emanating from the stone itself. The brief crack of rock, before a far more grinding sound is heard. Within a minute the sound becomes far more keen, and the guards start crying out in alarm. But then everything stops, and silence resume again. Throwing a torch down the tunnel, nothing is seen. Just as the guards start to sheathe their swords, entirely more sinister noises reach their ears. Screeches, and the clacking of numerous mandibles. Then all the sudden neat holes bore through the ceiling in several places. And beast the likes they have never seen before snake out. Armored in some form of organic carapace, with a few razor sharp mandibles. Rows of teeth, and a long multi legged body behind. They snake out lighting quick, grabbing people, and yanking them to the cave roof. Screaming is quickly cut off, as the unfortunate souls get impaled or their throats slit by fangs.

slawomir-maniak-sci-fi-fantasy-creature-

Anarchy breaks out as the soldiers start to ward off the beast with flame and blade. The creatures are methodical, boring around through the stone to dart out and strike. Desperately gathering the women, Jameson Gallo and his men continue to fight. Soon though they hear more sounds coming down the tunnel. The torch previously thrown, now illuminates a scene of nightmares. Dozens more of the centipede like beast crawled across every inch of the tunnel. And what was even worse, was what was with them. Vaguely humanoid, colored like the cave and fauna around them. They had mantis like heads, with large eyes. Sleek, and short, they ran, and slithered on the cave walls/roof. Carrying cruel looking weapons, they hurried the pack of beast in front of them.

“Get the Women safe, we’ll hold them hear!” Mr. Gallo rings out to his men. More then happy to run, they take the women with them. Margaret’s last sight is her husband and several men standing before the encroaching tide of death. As they round the corner, the screams begin anew. Panicking like trapped beast, everyone soon focuses on themselves. Splitting off, they run in blind routes. Soon enough the beast start to bore through the stone, cutting people off or ambushing them. Margaret simply runs deeper and deeper in, not caring. And that is how she finds herself now. Trying to catch her breath in a desperate frenzy.

All of the sudden she hears noises not her own or the caves. But it sounded familiar, footsteps! Sobbing and panting, Margaret stands up, and runs to the light coming for her. A battered but alive Jameson Gallo walks down the tunnel, clutching a torch. “James, James!” Margaret cries in joy as she leaps to embrace him. But as she holds her husband, she gets the same tingling feeling on her skin. Like that one night a fe days back. And the illusion shatters, and a beast is revealed before her. This one far different then the ones that had hunted them. This one wore some clothes over it’s Carapace armor. Dark eyes reviewed her, giving away nothing. It’s face was a mockery of mans, riddled with insectoid features. It’s mouth ringed in mandibles that were currently clacking. Stepping back in horror, Margaret backs into something else. Turning around, is one of the other scholars wife. Some strange leech was clasped around her spine, wriggling and making noises. The beast holding her clacks a few ties. With tears in her eye, the women sobs out. “W-we weren’t supposed to be here.”

Screaming the two are taken far deeper down then they could ever imagine. Into a world of nightmare, and surprising richness. But eventually they are taken to a deep and foul smelling cave. A far more Organic entrance leads further in. On the other side, sacks of glistening organic matter nestle around braziers. Within them, they can see huddled forms, connected to the sack by an umbilical. Screaming the two are thrown through the entrance, where two organic pipes quickly silence them by latching on. They are hoisted into the air, where they stare in mute horror. For around them is the entire caravan, some also looking around in pure terror. While others are already white husk, all their matter leading straight to whatever in prisoned them.

THE AMARANTIC DOMINION

873

There are other ways out of the nightmarish existence of Crucible’s slums than a likely death, or being taken for training by the Orders. Some particularly brutal and savage killers with little scholarly aptitude and often sponsored out of the hellish mire by one of the many gladiator colleges that provide entertainment and manpower to the citizens of the upper terraces of the city. For most, it’s a much better life than they had. Regular food, a safe place to sleep, travel to new places, adoring fans, women and men as they desire them. But now gladiators fight and die in much higher numbers in the colleges sponsored by the Order of the Unfathomable, as Antathek Ra demands more brutal training regimes and duels. He demands that the Order’s sponsored fighters be “worthy” when their end comes. Many are brought into the Temple of the Unfathomable for private duels and melees, personally attended by Ra. Few emerge from these ceremonies, but those that do speak in hushed tones of an icy pull on their very being and a sense of being scrutinised in agonising detail by things beyond the comprehension of mere mortals. Those few that speak are soon invited back to the Temple.

Elsewhere, with no reprisals (yet) from the Dol Varuk on the island the Dominion took from them, scholars and assorted magisters arrive to investigate the misty ruins. A paltry stipend of what’s left in the budget for this year is expended on provisioning the researchers, and the are defended by the garrison of the castle built there some years ago. As well as private individuals and minor cabals, the three Orders have their own expedition camps. The castellan of the castle has the unenviable job of keeping some semblance of peace between the squabbling rivals, and hopefully ensuring that the good of the Amarantic Dominion is placed above internal power struggles.

Abroad, emmisaries are sent with the latest trade ships to Perasmani and Ishikawa, offering to join in the fight against the Dol Varuk. These hated pirates have encroached on the Dominion before, and an opportunity to cause them pain and aid Amarant’s trade partners is not one to be passed up. The emissaries say that the Dominion’s navy is lacking, so transports may need protection from either of the island nations to the frontline.

Theme of Commodore Musashi mercilessly ravaging the Crimson Order:

-----------

Actions:

An exciting time in Eyowith. Aiko eagerly puts down her roots, learning the ways of this new state and manipulating those around her with expert cunning. For Colonel Bruhns there is benefit in his misfortune, for as the war goes on, the ***** seeds rumors of his skill and valor throughout the city, blowing any small victory far out of proportion.

At the same time, she keeps a close eye on her new catch, and often tries to coax out less-than-public information about the war...

Research (0) -

[PASSIVE SLOT 1 - Vómva]  The byproduct of the mines is researched as to be repurposed for the ongoing war effort. Materials that prove to be quite reactive with both water as well as fire are focused as to create a sort of combustible that only becomes more intense as water is added, creating a near endless loop of burning wherever the bomb may be detonated or where the embers would touch. The application for putting this concoction of “scrap” materials would be to be both mounted on ballista bolts, or in kegs to be thrown from a trebuchet.

THE MITROVIC EMPIRE

Image result for komnenos dynasty coat of arms

Heavy, all soaking drizzle drenched the city streets, turning the rough hewn cobble of the main avenues to slow moving rivers and the hard dirt of the back ways into ponds of liquid mud. Feldova was not a particularly grand city, and few of the Imperial Court understood the Emperor's desire to remain here - dwelling in the less than luxurious City Hall - rather than taking up winter residence in the Villas of his nobility along what was, once, the border. Nonetheless, Orolian's commands had been hastily carried out and the largest hall - the dining room - in the former residence of the Lord Mayor had been converted into a makeshift throne room, complete with an imposing hardwood chair upon which the Emperor glared down his nose at petitioners.

It was a miserable time of year and - even among the Attendants and the upper nobility (and though few dared say it, including the Emperor himself) - none were dressed in a fashion appropriate for court. The room stank of men who reeked of sweat, mud and dung. Grimey traveling clothes, well stained, were the lot of these grim looking souls. Most participants were wet, having had to hurry through the drenching rain from their lodgings across the city. Still, even with these considerations, few cut quite the poor figure as the two wretches next in line.

A boy - or a young man to those who had seen the cruel, steely, scarred face - of perhaps nineteen, accompanied by a man nearer sixty. Both were covered in mud so viscous and wet that it appeared as something closer to slime. They smelled strongly enough to make those at the far side of the throne gag and the boy had something that looked suspiciously like dried blood staining the front of his coat -a coat bearing the colours of the Republic of Eyowith. Of the guards, some frowned at the pair, as if they had seen them before, but they stood silently until their leader - the Lord Denghel, chief of the Imperial Retainers and a favourite at court - blurted out loudly;

"Petar Cristiu, surely that cannot be you!"

All eyes turned to the Emperor, who observed not the old deserter but his younger companion. Orolian frowned, studying the young face that had lost an eye, that was savagely cut and bashed in the fashion of warriors. Finally he stood. "Attend me, Valentine," said Orolian as he turned "I have much to discuss with my grandson and his… companion." Valeriu - the lost bastard prince - stepped forwards, surrendered his sword and followed his grandfather and his father into the door beyond the throne…

ACTIONS

-Victory has been achieved in much of the old territories of the Order and the Emperor's rewards are mighty. Lichtenfels, now of the Emperor's service, is given a small grant of land near Habria, along with a summons to Court as "Count of Salvria". Several grants are made to other such officers, but the greatest by far are made to the Lord Nicolai Denghel. Denghel, leader of the Imperial Retainers, is given the hand of Daniela Comnes - sister of the unfortunate Alexios Comnes, first cousin of the Emperor. Daniela is a considerable heiress (Alexios haven begotten no children) and her marriage to the Lord Denghel brings him title as the "Prince of Ardiavra" along with the considerable estates of the Comnes. This inheritance, along with additional estates awarded by the Emperor, has seen Denghel become one of the greatest landlords in the Mitrovic Empire, with estates running from the city of Ardava, along the eastern bank of the Mitrovic River to the coast of Chtor itself. Thousands of acres of prime farmland, dozens of herds, several mines and huge fishery grants enrich this lord, who takes the princely name "Domnas, in the traditional fashion. Prince Nikolas Domnas thus secures his position as one of Orolian's most ardent supporters. (12 farms, 60'000 Crowns)

-The return of the Prince Valeriu is a subject talked about in every corner of the Imperial Court. For his part - having heard of Valeriu's stories of his time as a mercenary and a junior Eyowith officer - Orolian decides to out his grandson to the test. Valeriu - who has strongly recommend military reform to the Emperor - is commissioned to raise a brigade of troops in the fashion he suggests to Orolian. (4000 Imperial Conscripts, 12'000 Crowns, T3 Equipment

Equipment taken from captured equipment)

-14'000 Crowns are delivered to the Ishikawa - thus fulfilling any debt owed to the Shogunate by the Empire.

-A group of natural philosophers are commissioned by the Emperor to investigate the properties of the strange plant found in Imperial borders many, many years ago. (4000 Crowns invested, 0 tech)

("Resources: From the southern stretches of the empire word filters of an undocumented weed. It grows in great stalks, capped with numerous red-orange buds, perhaps further study is in order?")

-The Arcane Hall begins to weave a new spell. Mandated by the Emperor for primary use against ships' hulls and masts, or against wooden palisades and city gates, the spell is a Telekinetic attack that resembles a woodcutters axe, and is simply designed to chop straight through anything wooden. (Telekinetic T2, "Defoliation", Passive Slot, Magic 8 )

-Representatives of the Dohocan Colony in the Empire are summoned to attend upon the Emperor at their earliest convenience.

Total: 90'000 Crowns

KINGDOM OF KASTOVIA

Ruler: HRM, King Sigismund IV of Kastovia

The banners of Kastovia’s great eagle fluttered delicately in the wind - particularly that which flew from the dungeon of the Royal Palace seemingly swallowing the sky. Just below, the King enjoyed a penthouse suite of sorts; a favored retreat of his high above ordinary troubles and his nuisance of a wife. It was evident that he did not want to be disturbed - with a rather excessive amount of guards posted every inch spiralling up to the apex. Yet, the King was known to make a few exceptions.

For within this chamber was a secret that none could ever be allowed to bear witness. A truth so damning that anyone who stumbled in would have to be executed on sight.

At the center of the room, King Sigismund stood at the head of the wooden table, longer rather than wider. Around him, some five other fellows circled round. “Sit.” the King bid them.

One by one, the individuals took to their seats. Sir Adrian Koguciuck of the Kingsguard, the Black Baron Andre Dimarczyk, his son; Crown Prince John, Marshal Szymon Kickosicki, the Interior Minister Filip Dembinksi, and the token female, Lady Artificer Kamila von Domaradz.

The King brandished a scroll, unfurling it at the center of the table - a map - which detailed the lay of the land, topographical and noting a particular area on the outskirts of Barowitz. Overlaid atop the map was a neat grid, dividing the scape into numerous rows and columns of squares. “Gentlemen.” he announced, “..and Lady.” he said, addressing Kamila, “It has been a long time coming… our next installment of donjons and wyverns.”

The Interior Minister, Lord Dembinski, eagerly placed a wooden miniature upon the table, marking his spot. Only then had attention been brought to his actual garb, wearing strange blue roads with a pointy hat, decorated in stars. He then whipped out a faux beard from his personal belongings bag, fastening what appeared to be sheep’s wool beneath his chin and around his lips.

Kamila shot him an odd glance, “Is that supposed to be..?”

“Yes!” proclaimed Dembinski, before he could even get his words out. “I am Saladin, the Great Wizard!” he cried, sporting a wand to boot.

Dimarczyk couldn’t help but shake his head - a bloke which took more joy in reveling in his damage numbers than getting into character.

“Nobody calls you that.” remarked the Marshal.

Kamila smirked, “Your initiative is commendable, Lord Dembinski.”

“Ah yes!” said the King, still standing. “Initiative.” he said, finally lowering himself to the height of his companions, unfolding a screen at his end of the table to prevent any nosy-lookers. “...Where we left off, the party had just attempted to make away with a dragon’s egg - only to exit cut off by said dragon returning to their cliffside lair. Everyone roll initiative. However, as you failed to keep watch, the dragon got the drop on you and is unleashing its fire breath upon the cave. Everyone standing by the egg, make me a dexterity saving throw on top of that - ”

“Oh come on! My passive perception is eighteen. How can a hulking dragon sneak up on -”

Sigismund was having none of this and retorted, “I’m the King, I make the damned rules. Now choose what rolls - your head or the die.

World Events:
Time marches on, a year passes, it is now 874

In Orev, the civil war continues to rage. The warlord Aeton’s armies continue their relentless push east, setting vast portions of the country on fire, and cross the border into the republic in mid summer. By winter, his army has reached the Electors, and has apparently coerced them to allow his forces to winter there. Clade Rellin also devotes his focus to the Empire’s eastern territories rather than Oros or the Republic. His small army fights a small series of battles, claiming several key forts in the process. In central Orev, the Republic begins to take advantage of their recent victory, marching throughout the western sections of the country, capturing cities and forts as they do.

The horde of Tomak Orburakai rides west to the Nasurakai, with them a declaration of war.

The self proclaimed Great Thede of Wyom, Mol Kjaro, endures harsh reprisals from the Wyomian Oligarchs and governors. The fortress of Eorealsey is put under naval blockade by what seems to be the entirety of the Wyomian navy. Furthermore, countless assault are launched upon the fortress, all of which are repelled by Kjaro’s forces. These successes, he proclaims, is only further proof of his divine right to restore the Empire of Havernopole

A renowned blacksmith, once in service to the various chieftains and lords of Maeya, and thought to be dead, washes up on the shores of the Midlands. Known simply as Faren, he advertises his services far and wide, for a price of course…

Pachaqui Kingdom

The world moves around them, and the children of the earth ready themselves..

Chicahtoc Empire

To the east… pt 2

What?

Holy Kingdom of Ascalon

The kingdom stirs, whispers of another Crusade spreading far and wide..

Kurausahr

The expedition into the Olk-Wood, finally to be resolved..

Chitiki

Chitiki hellspawn, tunneling in search of new deposits breach into an already existing section of tunnels, not made by them. They come upon many fresh corpses- human corpses, clearly belonging to the Knights of the Elyic Chapter. In a matter of minutes after their discovery, they are swarmed by unknown creatures, few of the party escapes, they are not pursued. Dark things, it seems, stir within the shield..

Amarantic Dominion

The gladiators die in droves, only to be consumed by the great beyond. Antathek feels a great sense of content throughout the battles. Despite this, there is a constant pull, a constant desire for more.

The expedition finds little of note, other than a once rundown castle, and several other structures which have mostly been repaired by the Dominion.

Dark scrying!? (Discord)

Ishikawa Shogunate

The “Boom Rocks” prove to be somewhat difficult to extract. Rather than large veins, they are found in small clusters of perfectly spherical, glassy stones. Investigations of their properties yield numerous results. The stones prove to be extremely brittle and delicate, even the slightest fall or bump causing them to violently explode, though, since the stones are all relatively palm sized, it isn’t extremely destructive. One engineer accidentally crushes one of the stones in his hands, his veins rapidly flared with a green-white light, and he reports an unreal sense of energy rush throughout his body.

The *****’s claws continue to dig deeper, familiarizing herself with her new environment. In regards to her host, her various rumours and falsehoods begin to spread to the higher-ups of the republic, and the man receives numerous accolades, bonuses, and promotions

Perasmani League

The few traders which sail down the Cradle’s rivers, and into Perasmani ports bring with them a strange material which they call Ironleaf.  (+4000g per turn, +Ironleaf income)

The expedition into the Cradle comes upon the site of what they believe to be a battlefield, on the southern banks of the river.

Vomva will be prepared by 79

Mitrovic Empire

Dohocan representatives come

Defoliation will be prepared by 76

The philosophers find the weed to be extremely puzzling, its properties a mystery, until much like their peers in Kemet, they force a servant to eat the strange plant. He feels a strange tingling across his body as he does, and is of course subjected to a number of tests. These seem to show that after consuming the plant, the user gains a brief period of total resistance to fire. They feel no heat, and suffer no burns.  (Fireweed discovered, +2000g yearly)

Kingdom of Kastovia

The King and his companions enjoy several sessions of Donjons and Wyverrns throughout the year..

Barowitz continues to grow in size, grandeur, and cleanliness. While no doubt the most developed city within the Kingdom, there is still much to be done if it wishes to rival the magnificence of Ak, Antramar, and Aldemar.

Likewise, the King’s League continues to grow at its alarming rate, wilding spreading in popularity across the country.

Year 873

“No news?” Thonaqan wanders up and down in his throne room. “No, my liege, no news yet.” replies the usually present Archpriest. “I see. Inform the warmistress.” – “Yes, my liege.”

An outside observer might be confused by the words exchanged, but there was meaning behind them. Thonaqan, now 31 years old has grown increasingly worried. Something is bugging him, there is an uneasy feeling in his mind and soul, a feeling that might not just go away on its own without proper reassurance. And exactly that is what he is pursuing now. Reassurance. Reassurance that his people are safe. The Kingdom has prospered thus far, in the past years, but then again, things might change and Thonaqan is unwilling to be complacent and unprepared for what may come.

Politically speaking, the conflict in the West made him break ties with the Ishikawa Shogunate that has shown to be a mere aggressor and opportunist. On one hand he understands that the wild pursuit of pure power is tempting and perhaps one way to safeguard the interests of your own people, but on the other he despised egoists. King Thonaqan wishes to tread carefully. Do what must be done, but also allow for negotiation, to find ways that mutually benefit. He himself saw not a lot of benefit from the Ishikawan merchants, or the now defunct Crimson Order. Merely the Mitrovic Empire was at least honest in its dealings, albeit perhaps a bit aggressive. Still, he convinced himself, one that might be true to his word.

In the past weeks the Kingdom has undergone a bit of a change for its armed forces. Thonaqan wishes to strengthen the realm and as such, he has aggressively allocated spending into projects of war. The reports of the armies that have been mobilized and utilized during the recent conflicts, as well as in the distant Orev concerned him. Given how some realms sailed half around the world to invade another for shady backhand deals does not ease his mind either. Reassurance, he seeks reassurance.

Actions:

As per decree of the young King, new farmland must be prepared to acommodate the growing demand of food by the steadily growing population. So far the Chimuquera had no issue with their nutrition, but the King does not intend to have it become a matter. (-18,000 Quti for 4 farms)

Two new keeps are constructed for the Kingdom. To the South in the basin, headed East along the mountains. It was important to secure their foothold properly. (-4 AP, -16,000 Quti for 2 Keeps; map to follow)

Under the ever so watchful gaze of the warmistress, the Chimuquera have begun training warriors on horses. They are a mountain people, yes, but there are plenty of flat lands to protect in the Kingdom. (-1 AP, -8,500 Quti for 1 unit of T3 Regular Medium Cavalry)

Rapid winds can cause duststorms. But instead of relying on winds with the power of will grains of sand might be moved with a lack of them. A magical sandstorm is the goal of the new magical pursuits of the Archpriest, something to conceal movement or hinder enemy advances. (Passive, started 872, due in 874 as T1)

His Holiness Pius X is carried through the streets on his Ceremonial throne, his papal guard protecting him as thousands of peasants line the street cheering and asking to be blessed. Pius simply smiles toward the cheering crowd, making the sign of the cross and muttering prayers under his breath. The elder Patricach had been elected ten years prior, for the past decade he’s been trying to consolidate the Churches influence in the Kingdom. He needed something to rally them, perhaps another Holy Crusade.

Pius and his retinue finally arrive at the Palace, King Baldwin IV stands alongside his nephew Edward. The Patricach is lowered and steps off his throne. “Your Majesty, it is an honor to be hosted in your Palace once more.”  Pius offers a slight smile toward the King, “Shall we head inside?”

“Your Holiness, it is always a pleasure, please come.” Baldwin turns on his heel, the three men enter the Palace leaving the Papal Retinue outside. Once inside the three men meet within the King's council chambers. “Now, I believe we’ve much to discuss,” Bladwin leans back in his chair. The Cold stare from his mask sending a shiver down Pius’s spine.

“Indeed we do, it would seem the Templar order is marshaling once more.” Pius looks between Edward and his uncle, “If the Templar order were to march to war, I can only assume the Crown will support them.”

Edward speaks first, “We both know they wouldn’t marshal unless you plan to call for another Holy War.”

Pius moves a hand toward his mouth, as if insulted, “I would never seek war, but the faithful must be defended if threatened.”

“Of your Holiness,” Baldwin says coldly. “But, who threatens the faithful? Who do the Templars march to war with?”

Pius leans forward in his chair, his eyes fixed on Baldwin, “That remains yet to be seen, your majesty.”
