It has been a long day

-----------

Actions:

A hoor - The ***** continues her lavish lifestyle in the republic, hosting parties several times a week with other people’s money. As usual, she plays up the accomplishments of her pathetic simp colonel that she might ride him farther up the ladder, so to speak.

A raid - Commodore Musashi, favored of the Shogun for bringing so many riches home, is ordered to sail for the coast of Ascalon, where the pathetic mainlanders have dared refuse his merchants.

With six frigates, two adepts and 1375 Wokou (1250 T1 vet, 125 T2 vet), he is to burn and steal everything of value from coastal settlements, steal coastal shipping and generally be a massive pain in the ass. His raids often approach under cover of mist and are gone before significant resistance can show itself.

[5 Frigates; 20 SP/30,000 Gold] - The MIGHTY ships of Awashima!

[1 Carracks; 2 SP/7,000 Gold] - Slower ships, but still mighty.

[Blacksmith hiring; 30,000 Gold] - The shogun hires the legendary blacksmith, expecting nothing but the best.

[MIGHTY RESEARCH] [CANNONS :chad::chad::chad: - 20,000 gold] - The explosive POWER of Qaeurdite presents an opportunity, for the Shogun’s fleet must now fight entirely with magic and ballistae. But if heavier projectiles could be thrown, perhaps with the power of bundled-up qaeurdite crystals, his ships could be made far more deadly. As a TEST of his new expensive smith’s ability, the lord Kais Ishikawa assigns him under his engineers, and directs them to build something capable of safely containing and directing the explosion. Surely one of his talents should have no problems correctly working the metal….

Year 875

Statpost, because I lack the motivation to delve too deep today.

Actions:

As per decree of the young King, new farmland must be prepared to acommodate the growing demand of food by the steadily growing population. So far the Chimuquera had no issue with their nutrition, but the King does not intend to have it become a matter. (-0 Quti for 0 farms)

A new town begins to emerge in the South, under guidance of retainer Tuqua, the Chimuquera head further East, expanding the reach of their realm. (-13,500 Quti for 1 Town, map to follow)

Urged on by the King’s request (and of course the funding that comes along with it), the blacksmiths and artisans of the Pachaqui Kingdom continue in developing the right arms and armor for the coming Mountain Lion Warriors. (-45,000 Quti & 10 AP for Heavy Infantry; 15,000 Quti last year)

The Archpriest advises to increase the economy in order to bolster the funds of the realm. (-67,500 Quti for 10 Civilian Districts)

The Kingdom of Pachaqui, in the name of King Thonaqan Micchuqui, sends out missives to the surrounding realms, specifically to Antramar, Kastovia, Aldemaric League, Tomuk Oburakai, Ardes, Ishikawa, Crimson Order, Mitrovic Empire and Krolestwo. The missive inquires and invites regarding the potential of a marriage of a suitable princess to the King, who is still unwed to this day. Negotiations may take place in regards to this. (Everyone)

The remaining Quti, rectangular chips of gold are being stored in the treasury of Osocchi Appachaqui, in order to save it for the coming year, where coin might become much more needed. (-800 Quti)

Rapid winds can cause duststorms. But instead of relying on winds with the power of will grains of sand might be moved with a lack of them. A magical sandstorm is the goal of the new magical pursuits of the Archpriest, something to conceal movement or hinder enemy advances. (Passive, started 872, due in 874 as T1)

Past Magic Studies:

As the impaling spikes spell is concluded the next project for the priests of the Chimuquera is to elaborate on a spell that may mend cracks and damages in stone, as well as reinforce it against impacts and further damage through tremors, impacts and other less mundane means. Reinforce Stone and Earth shall it be named. (Passive, started 868, due in 872 as T2; now concluded)

In the meantime, the Archpriest Solameqan orders the exploration of the gifts of Mama-Pacha, the powers she has bestowed upon the Chimuquera. The subject shall be the rapid formation of rock spikes out of the ground in a straight line from the caster, to impale approaching enemies. Whilst it seems cruel, it is essential that the Chimuqueran people have the means to protect themselves properly. (Passive study, year 4, due 868; now concluded)

Gold is sent elsewhere. (44.7k Gold)

Mod (???) -

Research (4,640 Gold) -

[PASSIVE SLOT 1 - Vómva]  gReEk FiRe.

(4/5 Turns Remain)

[Ironleaf Research]  Testing of the new material begins almost immediately. Feeling a connection between the newly dubbed Ironleaf and the collection of spears found within Fydor’s Bastion, the metal is tested primarily as a means of being forged into weaponry, if not some kind of armor in small batches. Other applications, such as heat resistance, overall strength as bolts or nails, and even as a fashion accessory is tested.

ACTIONS

-Runivera uses her influence to have a moment with the Antramarian King, reassuring him that the Samalstrazi incursion into the Orevien conflict is only to support the rightful claimant and establish a modicum of order upon their borderlands, as Aeton has only recently threatened them with attacks.

-In Antramar, Runivera continues to weave her network, and begins to accumulate a great wealth from her win business. (All 10k remain with her, as makes sense in RP.) She uses the new capital to hire more experts in winemaking, and expand her business into other great cities, buying out smaller businesses on the way and growing her vineries of Hatrâ wine. At court, her network grows….

-Alâ, now that she has gathered a following of healers, establishes herself in a central point amongst the conflicts raging through Orev and the surrounding regions. In a ruined building, she sets up a sort of monastery, using her followers to aid her in rebuilding it into a decently maintained hall, she lets it be known that all who are afflicted by any ailment can come to the Hall of Healing and seek solace.

“For his betrayal, they will suffer- suffer! His crown is brittle! I will have silence!
---

World Events:
Time marches on, a year passes, it is now 876

In Orev, there is a brief respite from the fighting which continues to tear the country apart. The Republic, long pressed on all fronts, is given time to reorganize, and prepare for further campaigns. In the north, Oros’ loyalists, likewise spend the year reorganizing and licking their wounds. Their situation, however, is less stable, as whispers spread of Clade Rellin preparing to march on the capital itself.

In the southern reaches of Orev, Antramar’s presence also begins to further consolidate as isolated electors, still defiant, fall to Lord Tarbus’ army.

Far to the east, the war between the Holy Nation and Kemet continues to develop. Still locked in combat, the past several years have seen the scales continue to tip in favor of the Kemetese hordes, which after being repelled from the capital several years ago, has continued to sweep over the western and southern portions of the Holy Nation, overwhelming defenders and garrisons wherever they find them, and contesting their attempts to meet them on the field and many occasions.

---

The Holy Kingdom of Ascalon

Rumors are rumors, they spread often, the Templars trains, preparing for if they are true…

Pirates from the east! Throughout the year, numerous ships flying Ishikawan flags terrorize the Kingdom’s coastline, sowing terror wherever they disembark. Their raids are quick, and strike unexpectedly, frequently torching coastal merchant vessels and isolated villages. (-5,000g in damages)

The Amarantic Dominion

Visions of the Beyond - Momentarily expose a target to visions of the Dark Beyond and its innumerable horrors. (t3) (Ready for 879)

T4 equipment will be prepared for as early as 880

Chicahtoc

Ritual of Strength - A several hour long ritual demanding the sacrifice of other beings, depending on said sacrifice, those put through the ritual experience varying increases of strength for a week following its completion. (t3) (879)

Adozar

Business as usual

Mitrovic Empire

War, and more war.

Kurausahr

Hand of Mihr (T4) - With a tremendous burst of holy power, a mage is capable of calling forth the power of the heavens, rapidly healing and re-energizing the bodies and spirit of up to 250 men around him, though it is extremely taxing. (Ready for 880)

Ishikawa Shogunate

Now in the service of the Shogunate, the legendary blacksmith Faren demonstrates his widely renowned skills. A true master of his craft, the man and his small staff is capable of producing up to 100 sets of T6 equipment every year, though of course the material must be paid for on top of his regular salary :goyim:

Commodore Musashi and his fleet spend much of the year raiding vast portions of Ascalon’s coast. The small nation, though, is not particularly wealthy, and there is little of value to be stolen from the mainlanders. (+2,000g)

The ***** continues to grow in comfort and influence within the Republic’s capital. However, a year of little fighting provides her with few opportunities to keep her momentum rolling.

These so called “Cannons” prove to be of extreme difficulty not entirely in practice, but mostly in concept. Firstly, Ishikawan miners and prospectors estimate that such stones only exist in very very small quantities on the island, and there simply aren’t enough of them to continuously extract and supply the entire fleet with ammunition. The cannons prove to be of no difficulty to construct, especially with such a masterful metalworker in their service. The true problem lies in the sustainability of the cannons, despite being able to direct the explosions easily enough, it seems that the Quaerdite propellant eats through the material extremely quickly. After only half a dozen tests, the cannon is unusable. Furthermore, the channeled explosion oftentimes damages the projectiles, poorly affecting accuracy or damage.

Pachaqui Kingdom

The proper facilities and techniques for producing heavy arms and armor are completed within the year, and readied for operation next year.

Perasmani League

The new material, dubbed “Ironleaf” is most curious. Harvested and supplied by few traders in the cradle, it is a seemingly magical blend between organic materials and metal. Though slightly weaker than the average steel, the large pieces of metal apparently grow from a tree-like plant. When harvested, they have only durable leaves and vines sprouting from the plates. In the sun, the metal strengthens, while in darkness it weakens. Testing also shows that the plates have the ability to repair themselves after little more than a week. Due to its organic-esc nature, the metal is susceptible to fire, and burning/removal of the plant projections means it will be months before the material is fit for use again. Forging it into weapons appears to be impractical, however it could be useful in the production of armor.

Samalstraza

Runivera’s business and social network continues to grow, slowly expanding across more and more of Antramar, as well as netting herself a suitable income.

Ala’s “Hall of Healing” proves to be a beacon of light in a sea of darkness. Within its walls many are tended to, and injured from across the Empire come to seek her aid. Furthermore, as her reputation grows across Orev, so to does her following, and move of those trained by her found their own halls across the empire.

KINGDOM OF KASTOVIA

Ruler: HRM, King Sigismund IV of Kastovia

Population: 13,439,206 (next: 13,842,382)

Starting Points: 10 Size, 10 Army, 6 Tech, 5 Loyalty

Trade Partners (10): Ardes, Rhydia, Samalstraza, Krolestwo, Perasma, Rhorric, Khrav, Pachaqui, Ak, Mitrovic

King Sigismund sat still, his breath held as he masked himself within his surroundings. Did he not sport the bright red and white of the Kingdom, he’d appear to be statuesque, molded into the environment. Streaks of black lined his skin beneath the eyes and his brow twitched ever so slightly - disturbed by a fly who darted off as quickly as it came which the King dared not swat at. He was crouched, boots dug into the slightly dampened soil, concealed behind a thin veil of foliage. Resting upon his foremost knee was his longbow and within his hand a steel-tipped arrow.

Some distance back was his royal entourage, a host of men of all sizes, backgrounds, and aptitudes. They made sure to distance themselves while their king was on the hunt. Some, such as Sir Adrian appeared restless, while the Black Baron could not be more pleased, taking amusement in the theatrics of their liege. Further behind them were two knights, lances held perpendicular with their fork-tailed pennons which gently rode the breeze.

The King gazed backwards. His companions offered him their assurances, one even giving a thumbs up of approval. “Hm.” he said, looking upon the flags carried by his bannermen - the wind carrying them in a southwesterly direction. As he did, the crunch of leaves and underbrush caught his ear and his head snapped forward once more. He could make it out in the corner of his eye, a blur of movement behind a bush and a low snarling noise. He knew not what it was but leveled his bow nonetheless and nocked an arrow. With a deep breath, he pulled the drawstring and sighted what he believed to be game, wavering slightly as the weight was a tad heavier than expected. Yet, he steadied himself and let the arrow loose, zipping into the brush.

What followed was an ungodly squeal - one perhaps that would make the most seasoned of veterans flinch. A moment later the creature revealed itself, pouncing out of the bush - a boar - with its tusks beared and kicking up dirt with its hind legs. It meant to charge. “****.” the King dropped his bow and raised a polearm to defend himself. “SPEARS.” he shouted, quickly abandoning his position and making a mad dash backwards, hurdling logs and forest debris.

“I thought we were hunting deer.” remarked Sir Adrian.

“Change of plan.” the Black Baron shrugged, rising to his feet to join his King. His action spurred the rest of the entourage to charge, equipped with similar spears.

The King, out of breath, joined his compatriots and set about cornering the boar, keeping the spear’s length between them and the creature. A dance of beast and man, the boar tried to make an escape, realizing its error. However, quick feet and a sharpened end dissuaded the boar from trying its luck. “Now.” the King bid, thrusting his spear into the boar, the creature reeling in pain, as blood poured from the wound and the creature attempted to lunge at him. His comrades followed suit, jabbing their weapons into the hog’s thick hide, turning the poor creature into nothing more than a pin-cushion as its body fell limp.

The King collapsed, not to any wounds, but rather sheer fatigue. He sat himself beside his boar and wrapped an arm around the deceased creature. In a daze, he threw up his hands and proclaimed “We dine like kings tonight!”

“Perhaps you do.” remarked the Black Baron.

The King smirked, though the knight followed with his own quip, though displaying visibly concerned, “You need be more careful, my liege. We hadn’t even set out to hunt boar, none of us were prepared for that. And that could’ve easily taken a turn for the worse...” By this, one could gleam that Sir Adrian was allowed to speak his tongue around the King, his chief bodyguard and perhaps sole voice of reason.

King Sigismund scoffed, grimacing as he wrenched his spear out from the boar. “Then let this be a lesson. Know thy enemy.”

Using her newly gained wealth, Runivera purchases a respectable townhouse, enclosed within a courtyard, with beautiful gardens. Much of the design is expressly Ninûric, as she hosts many parties and hopes to give the nobles a taste of exoticism. As a lady in waiting to the Queen of Antramar, she begins to actively involve herself in the marriage of lesser nobles (to the extent that her influence allows) and among her followers, she quite craftily introduces the idea that it is the Queen’s right and authority to directly influence marriages among nobles. She acts in such a manner that often, her close confidants leave their evening of drinking and talking thinking that they themselves thought up the idea! The point is simple, to begin ingraining such a concept into the nobility of Antramar delicately and stealthily.

Hatrâ Wineries continue to expand, as Runivera discreetly bribes some of the better vineyards and winemakers to work for her, instead of their previous partners. She continues to seek perfection, and bribes important guildsmen involved in the making of wines  with favors, political influence and money. The goal is simple, for them to hold the beautiful Samalstrazi in high regard, and give Hatrâ Wineries few tariffs or issues. At the same time, she opens a new branch, Gutterwater Taverns. With no connection to Hatrâ Wineries beyond the obscure monetary and personal ones, the wineries use low quality derivatives of Hatrâ production to service all strata’s of commoners with cheap wine, and a tavern in which to spend their nights.

Alâ, seeing the spread of her helpers, against her own desires, officially names herself and her followers The Kindly Ones, or the Order of the Kindly. She names herself Mother, and those who oversee the many Halls of Healing are named Daughters and Sons. With this, she ordains the Kindly Ones as entirely separate from any faction or any politics, and all who join must swear a solemn oath, the Oath of Compassion. To heal the sick and hurt, no matter their allegiance, no matter what others may say. To risk their own lives for the good of others, and never to harm another human being, lest it be to defend themselves. The Hall of Healing she formed becomes the Monastery of Light, and is grown, as she gathers more healers, magical or not, to her side, and sends them forth. They follow battles, clad in white, serene and silent, wandering the carnage left behind, or else forming their own enclaves with a Daughter or Son, or simply wandering in pilgrimage around cities and villages, bringing aid where they can.

Megura continues to seek work in Aeton, or Orev.

In a solemn ceremony, 94 men come before Kais Ishikawa. 94 old Atemic coins are presented to him, then returned. 94 swords are given, made with the finest workmanship in the world, passed to those who have spent their whole life training. The shogun insists that he has plans for these men, and though they struggle to keep their faces serious, they are eager. Awashima’s finest have not had a true battle in a long, long time.

[MIGHTY RESEARCH] [Koho Guns  - 20,000 gold] - Unavailability of munitions is a difficult problem, but these rocks may still be useful. If single crystals could be used at a time to fire at short range, a small version of the previous cannon designs may be effective against enemy soldiers. The shogun tasks his engineers with designing this smaller infantry weapon, to be mounted on tripods or the gunwales of ships with two gunners. The shogun suggests making the weapon easy to replace given the corrosive nature of the explosions, or otherwise to make it out of regenerating ironleaf.

He also asks his engineers if in their expert opinions a larger version could be viable with regenerating ironleaf and approximately four times the Quaerite supply. :ragie:

Year 876

The year is one that brings the wind of change. King Thonaqan Micchuqui, recently turned 33, has finally married. The fortunate one is the daughter of a Chimuquera noble who has been a longtime supporter of the Micchuqui family. Solameqan the Archpriest conducted the ceremony in Osocchi Appachaqui, in the Grand Temple of the city. Personally he was relieved that the King, last of his lineage, found a partner and should now be capable of continuing and restoring the Micchuqui family, a clan that was one of the founding members of the Chimuquera and the Pachaqui Kingdom.

Elsewhere, the Warmistress Theaqui has left with her sister Chimiqua to the North to observe Chimiqua partaking in the Ring of Blood tournament. Curious what this may result in, the King allowed it and did not comment any further as he was busy with his wedding. In the South, expansion goes as planned, with Retainer Tuqua Richiqui continuing to fortify the presence of the Chimuquera there, once again calling for a meeting for any nearby leaders and chieftains to offer them to join the Chimuquera as equals.

Actions:

As per decree of the young King, new farmland must be prepared to acommodate the growing demand of food by the steadily growing population. So far the Chimuquera had no issue with their nutrition, but the King does not intend to have it become a matter. (-0 Quti for 0 farms)

Retainer Tuqua Richiqui is travelling the basin South of the Chiquimutan Mountains again, in order to establish contact with chieftains and leaders again. He wishes to offer the willing the protection of King Thonaqan Micchuqui of the Pachaqui Kingdom. They would become equals to the people of the Kingdom, together as Chimuquera, the children of Mama-Pacha. (Mod)

On behest of the Warmistress, even during her absence, the training and equipment commences for the Mountain Lion Warriors, the new force that shall be the strong core of the Kingdom’s army. Many resources have been poured into this project and the results are not just for show (hopefully). (-55,000 Quti, -10 AP for 5 units of T3 Regular Mountain Lion Warriors (Heavy Infantry))

The Archpriest advises to increase the economy in order to bolster the funds of the realm. (-67,500 Quti for 10 Civilian Districts)

The Warmistress takes along with her the required entry funds for the Ring of Blood. (-2,000 Quti)

The remaining Quti, rectangular chips of gold are being stored in the treasury of Osocchi Appachaqui, in order to save it for the coming year, where coin might become much more needed. (-5,300 Quti)

The next spell is to be named Bindings of the Sand. A spell that should be capable of rooting a person with magic sands to a location, hindering his ability to move, speak or perform magic altogether. In a sense they imagine it to be required if they ever have to seal something away that can not be killed by normal means. (Started 876)

Past Studies:

Rapid winds can cause duststorms. But instead of relying on winds with the power of will grains of sand might be moved with a lack of them. A magical sandstorm is the goal of the new magical pursuits of the Archpriest, something to conceal movement or hinder enemy advances. (Passive, started 872, due in 874 as T1; concluded)

Urged on by the King’s request (and of course the funding that comes along with it), the blacksmiths and artisans of the Pachaqui Kingdom continue in developing the right arms and armor for the coming Mountain Lion Warriors. (-45,000 Quti & 10 AP for Heavy Infantry; 15,000 Quti last year; now concluded)

Baldwin sits on his throne, flanked by his nephew Edward. Before them a rider bows after giving his report. “Thank you, you’ve earned a hot meal,” Baldwin gestures for his servants to escort the man away. He’d turn toward his nephew, “This is most concerning, these raids are unprovoked, send patrols to the coast right away. If any ships are spotted I want an army rallied to meet them.”

“Uncle, perhaps it is time we expand our hold onto the coast. A well defended harbor will turn away any raiders. I can lead the construction.” Baldwin nods slowly.

“Agreed, Edward, you'll go along with the Templars to begin construction of a new town.” Baldwin leans back in his throne, “I hoped to continue my reign in peace, but this attack. .  the Church will be quick to frame it as an attack on our faith. Several churches were burned in the raid.”

Edward lets out a deep sigh, “If the Pontiff declares a holy war, to refuse would lose us support. But, we can do our best to limit the impact of a war.” Edward dips his head, before turning on his heel and leaving.

Baldwin is left in his own thoughts. ‘Why would they attempt to provoke us, unless they want something, but no demands have arrived.’ Baldwin shakes his head, “Servant, fetch me paper and a quill.” A young boy quickly runs off and returns holding the items. Baldwin begins to pen a letter.
