Origin/backstory

When the first of the Mali’Fenn came to settle in the tundra, the harsh environment did not seem to welcome them, and as such the Mali’Fenn did not feel that this new environment was truly their home. For many years the Grand Prince Aelthos I, the first of the ‘Fenn, made attempts to bring life to the hostile lands of winter. Year after year he would bring new plants and animals, only for them to wither and die, succumbing to the cold.

Crown Prince Aelthir I could see how much his father’s failures upset him. Not knowing what he could do to help, he began to pray. On the third night of The Deep Cold as Aelthir lay down to sleep, Wyrvun visited him and filled his dreams with wondrous visions. Aelthir saw a land filled with life and vigor, his father on a throne carved into a magnificent tree. Wyrvun approached the throne, welcoming Aelthos and all Mali’Fenn to Talath’Fin.

When Aelthir awoke, he couldn’t help but feel affected by the grandiose imagery of his dream. As he sat up, planning to inform his father of the dream, he felt something in his hand and looked down. It was a large seed, the color of snow with blue-ice streaks running down its side. He had never seen anything like it, he rushed to tell his father, clutching the seed close to his chest.

By the time Aelthir arrived by his father’s bedside, it was too late. Aelthos lay cold and lifeless, as Aelthir himself wept, although deep in his heart he knew what had to be done. The days to the funeral passed, seeming dreary and void as Aelthir prepared for both his father’s death, and his own coronation.

The day of the funeral came, and all of the Mali’Fenn came together to grieve. As Aelthos was buried, Aelthir placed the strange seed on Aelthos’ chest, over his heart.

Three days later, Aelthir was coronated. As the crown was placed on his head, a small sapling emerged from Aelthos’ grave, growing faster than just nature could account for. In the years following as Aelthir continued his new reign of the Princedom, the tree continued to grow, and with it came other trees and flowers, turning the once barren tundra into an icy paradise, the Mali’Fenn finally felt at home in the strange new land.

Every time Fenn has needed to move from place to place since Wyrvun originally blessed Aelthir I with the first seed, the tree has dropped another seed for the currently reigning Tundrak, Wyrvuns Chosen, to take and plant in the next location, and so wherever the Mali’Fenn may go, the new place is transformed into a haven for ‘Fenn.

Details

A seed of the tree would once again appear, falling into the center of the Tahu’lareh plaza. It would sprout and with it the crops and plants would grow normally, unaffected by the seemingly cold and frozen lands where the Snow Elves resided. Animals themselves would also become able to bear the cold much more easily within the city, over time being aided by the tree just like the plants.

The tree itself would grow of a pale-almost-white wood, its leaves a blue-cold, seethrough like ice. Its trunk extremely hard to cut, any damage would be fixed within an elven day. Under the grounds of the city the roots of the tree would slowly grow to cover the whole Fennic’ city and perhaps beyond to the whole of the Fennic’ lands, in turn allowing the blessing itself to spread, bringing new snow pine forests to the region over time.

The tree itself comes from the Aengul of deep cold, Wyrvun. If a non-Mali’Fenn were to touch the tree their hand would start to be gripped by the cold, becoming painful, as well as over three emotes the whole arm would become cold. around five to six emotes the arm would begin to freeze over, beginning to be at a risk of losing function. Those with Mali’Fenn’ blood would naturally be resistant to this whether through Wyrvuns blessing upon their people or their high resistance to the cold.

Purpose for existing

The reason the tree needs to exist would be to flesh out already-existing lore which states that by the blessing of Wyrvun the Mali’Fenn can grow crops and herd animals in hellish colds. Going beyond that this tree gives substance to the world that it inhabits alongside the existing lore. Not only does it provide us with an embodiment for our gift from Wyrvun but it also serves to prove the lore correct. Mali’Fenn are Wyrvuns people. They inhabit his mortal dominion (the snowy tundras) with his blessing, the very tree itself being the embodiment.

Not only does this tree become fundamentally neccessary in tying our race and lore to the world it inhabits; it also serves to bring a more defined culture and history that, without reading about, can be visually seen. In turn many aspects that make up roleplay will improve, the race over-all has an anchor to their god, the priests of the Mali’Fenn find substance in the blessings of their god, the Ivae’fenn (fenn military) are given a centerpoint of our race to protect, the Tundrak royal line which has led the Mali’Fenn people since their inception gain their duties of protecting and carrying the tree to future maps so that Mali’Fenn can continue to thrive in the harshest of places and the citizens and travelers can get a sense of our deep lore just by seeing and enquiring about it.

If you have seen how many dogs spawn in Fenn you’d understand how true that statement may be

As someone who has been reading and writing the Religion lore from multiple posts now- I am excited and hopeful for this to be approved. It gives a physical representation of lore that was approved previously as well as actual events that have happened on the server previously. Glad to see it being actually offered to LoTC officially instead of in OOC limbo.

This tree is a huge deal for us within the Princedom of Fenn- and to have it officially recognized as lore would be amazing
