A decrepit woman, once Governor of the Ruberni plains, tautly furls her tremoring fingers against the missive – crumpled in her hold – as she glosses over its texts, scripted in imperious officiality. 

 

”There is naught a place like Oren; not one of these scattered piastdoms is asgrand, ambitious, and resilient. Mayhaps the Ashford remnants, and even the Ruberni baseborn sired from my brother’s lustful loins, will finally reconcile their pride with a step forward for humanity.”

Balthazar peers over the missive with an air of skepticism. “The Helane Dynasty have asserted their indomitable grasp over Humanity, but this is a lineage as old as they. To bend to another Imperial monarch is doom in their eyes. The Savoyards will never forget.” His eyes wet. “I fear only war and death can come from this.

Hadvar signs the Lorraine, bowing his head in despair. The Ruberni, once his brethren in battle, now under the iron fist of the Empire. Darrowmere will not be able to assist them this time...perhaps they would be welcome in our borders if worse comes to worse.

Alaric DeNurem, officer in the ISA halts the grindstone pedal as he sharpened his sabre. He took the missive to give it a read, as a simple thought came to mind. “Why haven’t they surrendered yet? There has been so much blood spilled, do they even have a capable military force?” He pondered for a moment as the idea passed by, resuming the operation.
