Raetia

- 10366 AE -

“Are you certain Setyr is up to the task?” – “Yes.” – “Hm. I understand you wanted to get rid of the old cot who has been running the show in the name of your father, Volker Brell... but since he was killed in that Senate brawl regardless, a lot less trouble to have Setyr assume his post.” Coro Mens comments as he accompanies Archon Martok Raetia on his way to the main war room of the palace complex. A few years ago, a bit after his instatement as the new Stellarch, he sent out the comparatively young, but promising Damron Setyr as replacement senator in his stead. Martok gave him certain orders, but otherwise entrusted him with free reign to act in the best interest for Raetia and Martok’s plans. Coro Mens would have been a candidate, but the Stellarch needs the capable advisor at his side. Besides he has been made head of palace security after his coup, nobody knows the palace better than him. Not even old Rankor in his over two-hundred years of reign knew that much about the most important building in the galaxy. At least for Martok it was. His seat of power, his heart of control. From here, he would proceed to manifest the destiny of Raetia. And succeed or fail ultimately.

They arrive in the warroom moments later, where a whole entourage of commanders are awaiting them. They all salute as the Stellarch enters the room, who dismisses the gesture rather quickly and turns immediately to the central galactic projection. Martok has plans and the first steps must be taken already. The commanders observe quietly, knowing well that their Archon is not a man who likes to be interrupted in his thoughts and plans. Moments pass, turn into minutes. And then: “Mobilize the RSF. Raetia goes to war.”

As quiet as possible all over the Stellarchy, the armies are activated, ships loaded and prepared, moving to their designated coordinates for the first strike that is planned to happen immediately next year. Certainly, thanks to the information quarantine that’s going on, nobody really takes notice, not within and most certainly not without. The arm of the Archon, the Raetian Intelligence Agency (RIA) is making sure that no information leaks out of the Stellarchy aside from what is willingly sent out into the ether.

Actions

This year the Stellarchy constructs additional 5,000 tanks and two cruisers on Korhal, as well as ten new transport ships. This should bolster the firepower of the RSF both in space and on land properly. (-8 M, -3 AP, -8 NP, -27,000 C)

36,000 C are set aside for the potentially arriving Components (E) from Matene. (-36,000 C)

The world of Trepp (58-J) receives two warehouses to store resources in the future. (-5,000 C, -2 B)

The Stellarchy mobilizes the RSF. However utilizing the intelligence network of the RIA everything is concealed from the public as well as any potential outsiders.

Coro Mens allocates funds to the RIA under leadership of L. R. to further their operations. (-20,000 C, MOD)

The Stellarchy sets aside 10,000 C, 2 M, 3 P, 1 F for the allocated taxes. (MOD)

The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-133,250 C)

Nutritionally Satisfied Altaire

vWxjkrX.jpg

The glimmering city stretched far along the horizon beyond the eyes of mortal men. Colonnades hundreds of meters high marked the greatest avenues of the Altairean capital, each one sporting statues of marble and gold of Altairean heroes or leaders centuries old and forgotten. Monuments stood at every intersection, embossed with bronze and dedicated to meaningless ideals put forward by the mad artists that infested the planet. Yet beneath the ostentatious displays of wealth, the streets were crumbling beneath the weight of endless excess. A sea of pinched faces moved sluggishly beneath with barely the strength to look up at the boundless wonders that stretched overhead.

In the shadows of these colossi, there were only shades.

A three year famine—one that cost the province dearly – was finally at an end. Though the Provincial Information Network spoke with elation and pride that the Altaireans survived the Great Hunger without a single riot, few who walked that pitiful ocean felt much of either. Only the silent relief of a satisfied stomach could bring the hint of a smile across the faces of the faceless.

Above both monuments and their hapless denizens, loomed the estate of Stellarch Naei. It had expanded dramatically in recent days; huge, concrete anti-air towers surrounded the once palatial estate and thousands of soldiers patrolled tight passageways and choke-points. Gun emplacements loomed over the larger thoroughfares and watched by stern Altairean Auxilla, each one with a finger on their triggers. Seemingly they were waiting for something, though what that something was remained obscured.

Suddenly, an ear-splitting clarion blared, and thousands of men jumped to attention around positions on the walls and entryways of the great citadel. Battle-rifles bristled from firing slits and bunkers, pointing in every direction. Civilian workers were grabbed and thrown into holding areas or rushed out of the estate’s grounds.

Minutes passed, then hours. Each man kept to his post, glaring out into streets and avenues while the people went on with their dreary lives. Finally, a second clarion sounded, and the soldiers returned to their usual patrols. Almost every day this occurred.

And yet, not one of them knew why.

MANDATE OF VENNENDAL

“...The tides have turned against the Party.”

“That much is evident.”

“As it stands, the East is a Republican stronghold. We’d do well not to anger our counterparts.”

“Hm. And U’ilaani is our key to the Core.”

“You know as well as I. We should tread lightly. The galaxy is on the brink.”

“Then let us focus our efforts. Double down on sector security and prepare for deep siege. On all fronts.”

“I understand, Lord.”

“That’ll be all, governors. May God help us all.”

The coming years, an agenda set by the planetary governors of Vennendal, would be defined by internal focus, looking to compensate for Vennendal’s economic mediocrity with a strong Navy and near-Autarky. The Mandate vowed that Vennendal shall never be held hostage by the whims of the Galactic merchants nor their neighbors. Though the metaphorical walls had yet to be erected, there was no harm in thinking toward the future.

[IMPERIAL DIPLOMACY?] Senator Aalmers, under the direction of Stellarch Elfering, attempts to acquire either the know-how or an actual version of the Imperial Navy’s newest Heavy Cruisers to bolster Vennendal’s own SDF. He uses his contacts among the Senate to see what can be done, citing dire need of modern and efficient warships. (3 Imperial Influence)

Imperial Takakasi Province

300,300 C, 7 B, 7 M, 2 E, 1 AP, 6 NP

Mod Actions

Work continues for the House on furthering the militant order known as the ‘Daughters of the Imperium’. This Order is focused on creating sects across the galaxy of women devoted to the Emperor and serving him. Though not allowed to join the Imperial Army, they are instead forming their own para-military cells. House Matareka will fund and arm them within legal parameters. It is hoped the Emperor will take notice, and endorse so many faithful women willing to fight and die for his will across the galaxy. -5k C, -1 M

To counterbalance this, this year the Sons of the Imperium are also formed. It will imitate the daughters, being a paramilitary of men highly dedicated to the Emperor. Starting from scratch this year will be focused on recruiting influential candidates to than travel to their own quadrants of the galaxy to found chapters of the order. -5k C

Lord Ihorangi Matareka inquires into the Religious beliefs of the fanatics on Buath, hoping to learn more about their ideology.

Third Empire - The Decline

10,367 AE

"A hundred years from now they will say, here began the fall! For I have seen the End of Days!"

-Aokigahara

---
Events

In the quieter, lesser frequented corners of the Senate, rumours abound of major capital ship construction, illegal of course, done in absolute secret around the Imperial base in system in 16B.

---

Nalani is raised to Archon by order of the Emperor. Rän-ji's oldest and most loyal supporter is rewarded for his faith by his elevation to the great ranks of the Peerage. The second Archon to be made, Nalani's title comes with some special privileges, as he is simultaneously bestowed the rank of Tyrarch. As a result, a great sleuth of shipbuilding begins in Nalani's province, and a Super Dreadnought is reportedly laid down. Spies report, however, that there is an immense amount of construction materials being shipped into the site, far more than commonly would be needed….

---

The constancy of the pirate threat continues, as Aokigahara mauls his way from one side of the Galaxy to the other. This time, it is he who catches Rahn in a trap, and the Stellarch is forced to retreat swiftly, and his squadron to lay in for repairs. As a result, Aokigahara  launches a massive new offensive, spending his year utterly savaging the trade lanes, and his strength surely grows…. (-15% credits for everyone this year)

---

Inshallah! The brave martyrs on Buath continue their vicious war against the Irik in the inhospitable jungles. The campaign is particularly savage, and captured Irik are brutally defanged, scalped and castrated by the vengeful Mujari ibn Joas and his fighters. They are no friends to the Empire, however, and twice they behead the downed pilots of Imperial fighters, and openly broadcast the footage for all to see.

---

Political violence is at its most prevalent in over a century, as Senators are regularly accosted on their way to the Senate. Loyalists are often the targets of roaming bands of masked men, and tensions between the Tanuvian Guard and the Imperial Guard are at an all time high, as Commander Kapua fills the ranks of the Tanuvians with hardened veterans, hand picked from the best Republican legions in service. Twice in this new spate of political violence Senators have been pelted with dung, while several have had their passage barred and been savagely beaten. And, worst of all, the aide of a Loyalist was caught by a gang of masked thugs, beaten and then violently g*ng r*ped - as a sign of disrespect to his master.

---

U'ilani vocally objects to "lesser Stellarchs", as he terms it, being given such political precedence over him. After several angry messages to the Emperor, and threats of an unknown kind, Rän-ji caves for the first time in his life, and appoints the Stellarch U'ilani as an Archon.

--

The Stellarch of 40i, a rather boring and unnoticeable man, is found dead in his own banquet hall along with his whole family. He himself is pinned to the ceiling, an Arc-spear driven through his chest, many of his teeth seemingly very precisely and delicately removed, while the others are filled with bullet holes.

The Directorate

Serrano’s Driveyards churn out a fleet, hopefully one large enough to match the families’ ambition.

A gift arrives, with a bow on top.

Despotate of Oberstein

Didn’t know good wifi was required to write rp, woman.

Dominion of Badab

Kimo Parata’s introduction into the military as a common grunt is a shocking and extraordinary humble development. He receives both hazing and praise from his peers. Maybe it’ll be good for him.

Grand Duchy of Alamar

Alamar rapidly begins to militarize as Dryden heads north to take command of Buath, where the situation seems to grow more grim with each passing day.

Stellarchy of Matene

Efforts to further develop Rumaris go nowhere, for funding and material investment is far to scarce.

Senator Co’nnori I’ris pleads for the Arero’s entire stock! “Please sir please! I am unable to get the job done with my millimeter peter, I need them!”

Emirate of Kiritau

Another year passes in Kiritau.

Raetia

Cogs turn and wheels spin. After decades of isolation, Raetia prepares to open itself up to the world. In recent years, its industry has been roaring to life, its naval yards churning out ships, and its armies mobilizing. Where it intends to direct this growing military, is unknown..

Nutritionally Satisfied Altaire

Another year holed up in his Citadel. Over the past months, the surrounding areas have become incredibly tense, as if they are expecting some sort of attack. Yet, one never comes, and they simply hold their breaths.

Very promising results arrive.

Holy Order of HyperBOREia

Missionaries are sent, missionaries arrive. I also did ur mom in missionary position.

The rest of the year is quiet.

Mandate of Vennendal

Perhaps the Mandate is correct, and the galaxy is on the brink, perhaps not. One can never be too careful it seems.

Aalmer’s request hits a serious strain of luck. The man he speaks to in regards to the issue is from Vennendal himself, and pulls a number of strings. By the end of the year, a modern heavy cruiser is reassigned from the 5th Core squadron, and arrives in Mandate space.

House Matareka

The engines make little progress.

Sons of the Imperium instantly make leagues more progress than their counterpart, Daughters of the Imperium. In near by Loyalist space, small chapters which essentially function as paramilitaries or militias, begin to spring up.

Matareka learns of the extremists on Buath. Originally a Irik world until it was originally conquered by the Empire, its isolated geography quickly allowed varying sects of the same religion to spring up, the most extreme of which has taken hold over a sizeable chunk of the planet’s population. The religion itself is extremely conservative. They believe in a single deity who advocates for the purging of alien species, as well as the dismantling of the Empire in favor of a single theocratic state. In society, almost every minority group is oppressed in some way or another, and holding conflicting faiths is punishable by death.

The Dominion of Badab

The stars twinkled in the dark sky, hovering above the planet of Badab. The faint light reflected in the small pools of water in the jungle.
Even as artificial light shone brightly outwards. Lightening the planet's dark sky, creating a near eternal dawn. Especially in the similairly named capital of Badab. Which was quite humble compared to the capitals of other stellarchies. This extended to the planet of Badab as a whole. It was only lightly settled, with most of the civilian population dedicated to either any one of the government agencies or the small fuel extraction operations on the planet.

Barely two billion souls on the planet in total. It was lightly settled, and most of the population was centered around the capital city itself. Which was itself dedicated mostly to bureaucratic purposes. In order to process any amount of legislation determined by the Tyrant or from the Senate (in the events that such galactic wide laws were spread).

The city itself was filled with tall buildings, skyscrapers aiming towards the sky.
And in in one of the smaller residential skyscrapers, sitting on the balcony of the penthouse sat the Tyrant of Badab. Maru Parata.
The man was generally speaking, quite plain. A man with short dark-brown hair, always kept in good order with a decent amount of gel. A hard jaw, which most would see as a detriment. Hard calloused hands, gained from a youth working on a farm and in the military. Both hard jobs, which had left it's scars on him.  Like a scar of a bullet hole in the right chest, accompanied with craked ribs. A streak of scar tissue on the arm as he was hit in a glancing blow by an Irik bullet and thus one could go on for at least a minute. But to some, it had a certain appeal. It certainly had to his first wife, Iwa, until she had died back when he was a general. It was not the result of an assassination, Irik assault or anything dramatic like that. She had simply had a bad pregnancy followed by a terrible labor. She had manged to bring him Tane, the soft artistic, creative boy who he loved with all his heart. But he would still have preffered her to be with him. Seeing her boys grow up. Especially Kimo, who had recently started at the officer training academy, he still remembered his own time there. It was hard, both physical and mental training, though he especially remembered the physical hardships.

He wondered if Kimo suffered from that same old, insufferable drill sergeant. Posssibly. From what he heard he was doing good academically speaking. Though from the messages he got from Kimo, he seemed to be less than comfortable in some ways. Perhaps it was the pressure he put on the boy with his status, it certainly set high expectations.

As Maru melancholically looked in the sky, wondering if he could see the star where his sun was, he heard something quietly walking behind him. Trying to sneak up to him, instinctively his hand went to his personal knife he had with him all the time, though it immediately stopped as he realized who there actually was. It was his sweet little daughter Hanga. Who giggled as she saw that he had noticed her.

Hanga was a girl now six years of age, with a beautiful laugh and an almost constant bright smile. Maru got a smalls smile as he saw her approach and grabbed her with two hands and said in a mock-angry tone. "
Ah, I see I am being stalked by an assasin.” To which Hange giggled loudly. Maru would have tickled her, as he had in the younger days of Kimo and Tane. But unfortunately, that was not possible for her, or at least would not have any effect.

For Hanga was covered all over by hard scales.
In the Dominion of Badab 'scales’ were quite common. But generally speaking, the skin was still semi-soft and only showed slight signs of scales/carpace. But there was a radical condition, which made some people 'the faceless’, referring to the fact that outside of badab, they were always forced to wear a mask. For they could easily be mistaken as alien.
Their outer carapace was hard, still having a nerve system, but one which was far weaker than that of normal human or even 'scales’. On top of that, they were completely bald, with no hair whatsoever. Finished off by the fact that their eyes were almost like that of a serpent. With a dark vertical slit in the middle. This was a rare genetic trait, and was only seen among 0,5% of the population of Badab. Unfortunately, Maru and his second wife Isala both had a recessive trait which could cause this effect. And unfortunately, they had both times rolled badly on the dice.

It did not make him love them any less. But he could not help but feel sad as he realized people would always look at them weirdly, especially foreign visitors. Unable to show their face anywhere outside of the Dominion of Badab. Or they would face the risk of being mistaken as an alien and subsequently lynched. And that was on top of the pressure of having him as a father. The Tyrant of Badab, a man who could be feasibly be put in the top 100 of most powerful people in the empire, the Stellarch presiding over billions uppon billions of souls.  And yet, each day as he came up that beautiful smile reminded him what he worked for. The long hours, the hard decisions, the dealing with the infinite ranks of imbeciles. It was all to help protect them. As his mind wandered he felt something pull, and he realized that she was pulling at his cheek and his smile once more returned.
"
So little assasin, what brings you here to my inner sanctum ?

"Mommy says that food is ready, and that you should not be silly and keep looking at the sky all night.” Mary could not help but snort as he heard that. He then grabbed Hanga and pulled her upwards, putting her on his shoulder whilst she squeeled in delight and giggled.
"
Well let's see what mommy has cooked then.

He then walked back into the penthouse, his reminiscing distracted.
For now.

Actions:

Military:

With the constant threats of the pirates and the irik looming over the Dominion, the constant militerization continues. Seeking to built a navy in order to bring a deathly strike to either. As such a single cruiser and a destroyers are constructed in the shipyards of the Dominion. (5M, 17,5kC & 5NP)

2 Raven class corvettes are constructed. As covert information is a valuable resource. Now more than ever. (5,5kC, 2M, 1E & 1NP)

Furthermore, in order to help with the defense of the planet of Uraika, an artillery batallion is raised. In part to help take down enemy troop transport. (2,5kC, 2M & 2AP)

In order to accomedate the new legions and fleets raised due to the civil war:

3 generals are recruited.

1 Admiral are recruited

(75kC)

Total cost:

98kC, 1E & 8M

An unescorted freigher, carrying 1M is sent as a donation to stellarch Aotea. At least officially. Unoficially, inside of the metal alloy, there are several signals which are sending a specific, low detection signal on a high frequency. In order to track where the metal is going, which hopefully turns out to be a pirate base, or at least pirate sympathizers.

Civilian:

In order to help in information gathering operations with pirates. A large amount of operatives are trained in order to help infiltrate pirate operations and keep track of their fleets and support infrastructure. With large amounts of funds now temporarily available, as well as an excess of buildings that would otherwise go to waste, a large public construction project is commisioned. Specifically, constructing a large amount of public housing. This project has several goals, which are:
-To increase the quality of life

-Appease the populists so that they don't revolt

-Make it so people have more funds available for other (luxury) purchases.

This public housing is set up in such a way that for every 10 families/apartments there is a communal kitchen. And that for every 40 families/apartments there is a communal shower. And other basic quality of life measures.
The housing itself is to be made cheap. At such a price rate that people with a low-quality jobs can easily afford it. And the housing only being available to people with an income equivalent to that of a low-class income. This should help make it so that the citizens living in these apartments can live there without too much concern for not making end's meet. Making them have enough money available for groceries and perhaps giving extra money for more luxury items. Which will improve general consumerism. Or encourage more parents to send their children to higher education.

Chosen One

Sheikh Aitanga Uri looks down through his drop ship’s glass-like wall as the characteristic lights of a Kaumai moon glitter below through a thin morning haze. Tearing off his traditional Kiritauan face covering with one hand, Uri slams the glass wall with his other, heavy prosthetic hand. Its starship-grade steel reverberates from the impact with a hum but the wall was not even scuffed.

Uri had thought he was special. He always carried his special title of Aitanga Uri with pride, having long since dispensed with his bedouin-class and military-class designations once he cleared his trials and ascended to the Great Harim. Uri had come far despite his humble bedouin origins. Kiritau was full of advanced pastoral worlds whose fertile soil supported much of the galaxy with its high-quality meats and milk products. Indeed, Kiritau had the most advanced and streamlined pastoral system in the galaxy, so its pastoral sub-class lived in enviable conditions compared to those in metallurgy and fuel refining. Still, Uri had always felt he was not meant for life as a bedouin. It was sacrilege to defy the mandate of conforming to his social class, and Uri was certain that he would die for his disobedience – and so he had, just in ways he had not expected.

Torrents of information flowed through Uri’s homeworld in the highly developed System 20B due to its centrality: 20B both was within the Inner Rim trade zone and provided major passage for trade flowing to the Core. At birth Uri was allocated the job of avian beastmaster, providing aerial observation for herding operations via electronically-equipped and highly-trained birds of prey. Yet, mischievous young Uri (at the time known as Bedouin #2,222,519) had improved the efficiency of aerial monitoring so seamlessly that his peers did not seem to notice how he clandestinely flew many intelligence-gathering projects on the side. But of course, someone had noticed. This was Kiritau, where knowledge was the highest form of power. After staging Bedouin #2,222,519’s death, Kiritau’s military inducted #2,222,519 into a new role as an optics-class spy and, due to his naturally phenomenal eyesight and exceptional wilderness skills, he evolved into a sniper-reconaissance commando and was renamed with a military designation (#166,182).

Time and time again #166,182’s physiology defeated the rugged, hellish conditions that were thrown at him, even when all the odds were stacked against him. Over the years it became clear that his genetics were simply on a higher level than his peers’. Commando 166,182 earned more and more leadership opportunities, and he used them to showcase the hidden jewel that was his strategic mind. Right when it seemed that #166,182 was on track to becoming a general, he was abducted in the middle of the night and thrown unknowingly into a gauntlet that lasted three and a half years. After being tested on every conceivable characteristic, #166,182 was granted an audience with Sovereign Raa, who found him quite pleasing. [He had rolled an 8, after all.] Upon ascending into the sovereign’s Great Harim, the man traded his designation of Commando #166,182 for his title of Aitanga 55. Trading 7 years of the worst hell he had ever experienced and sacrificing both legs, an arm, and most of his cock to field amputations, Aitanga 55 proved his loyalty despite the ruthlessness of Sovereign Raa and so became Aitanga Uri – an elite harim unit selected for paternal use. He was, in fact, the first of that class to serve Raa and so retained the honorific Uri despite the addition of numbered Aitanga Uri in subsequent years. Uri had always felt special for never having been designated a number, and he had overcome so much in getting to his most-enviable position. The knife in his heart would always be that she had never given him a name. It was to be his ultimate liberation from the lower-class life that he was born into and it should have been the last word in affirming that he was, indeed, a real individual. Yet, despite Raa’s affection for Uri and even granting him the grand title of Sheikh, Raa never gave Uri a name… even when soft dough like Huka Hūkerikeri had always had two names despite never having gone through a day of hell in his life.

Now bashing his head into the glass, Uri screams as his reflection glares back at him with crazed glowing eyes. He was to be thrown in with these dogs, covered in slime and bile of their own design. Uri had always been good at the Kiritau intelligence game; he knew about the murdered senators. He knew about the emperor. The emperor… Nothing, nothing made him burn with hatred as much as the emperor did. Uri’s imagination was constantly thrashing about the mother-f*cking emperor and what Rän-ji was doing right now, despite surely being no better than Hūkerikeri for living such an extremely soft and cushioned life. At least the later, numbered Aitanga had gone through hell, like he had, to become one of Raa’s chosen ones.

Rau had tried to calm him down before Uri left for the Core, saying that both Uri and Rän-ji had gotten where they were by being blessed at birth with exceptional genetics… but Rau was not here anymore and Uri’s rage might break free at any moment. Rau was wrong. If Uri had been born a psykic, none of this would have happened and he would have been Raa’s one and only man. He would have been good enough to not be chucked into the Senate when he should be free under the skies, bleeding in the field and smashing dissidents alongside Raa. If only she would reach for him again she would see his passion and rage and truth. His clear superiority.

That. God damn. Rän-ji. The emperor would not bleed for her. Looking down at his more than half-prosthetic metal body, Uri’s blood burned. No one is what I am for Raa, and no one will be.

Grand Duchy of Alamar

Year 10,367 AE

Rapid Militarisation is continued this year, due to the pressing need and the dire situation the Empire appears to be in the Alamari accept the stimulus and begin getting to work forming a new fleet and raising the legions needed for the coming fight. Buath was still the priority for the Grand Duke and his family as it was given to House Dryden from the Emperor himself and they would hold it if it was the last thing they did. Albert Dryden would attempt to live up to his father's name, he had more to lose than ever now, due to him now having a younger brother and sister unexpectedly, anxious about his position within the family due to his illegitimate origins.

Outside of the massive Military buildup the Drydens would celebrate the birth of two new scions into their family, twins and the first legitimate children of the Grand Duke and the first children the long thought barren Grand Duchess had produced. Severus would tour the Province and meet with the local communities on each world and attempt to inspire the people, the loyalty of the Alamari to the Drydens had long since been secured and the Duke would like to see the issues that may be arising in the Province and see if his Government can resolve it or if the matters should be brought to the Senate.
