Imperial Declaration of a State of Emergency

Distinctive blue eyes, concealed behind indistinct plate armor, surveyed the barricaded bridge into Helena. "I wonder what became of him..." She glanced to either side before bringing a gauntlet, smudged with dirt from prior digging, up to her visor with a sigh. A faded green robe, tattered and still smelling freshly of the oceans, did little now to conceal her armor. You can't keep speaking to yourself like this, you're not alone anymore. They'll find it strange.

Old memories swirled, voices she had strove to forget gnawed, clawed their disappointment deep into her very being until a headache formed. In defeat, her hand moved to rest against her neck, idly grasping the cinnamon filled necklace as though it were a foreign item, her thumb briefly rubbing away part of the dirt which clung to it. With a quiet heave, she tossed a bag over her shoulder then allowed herself a few more moments to watch Helenites evacuate. An almost hopeful gaze to her as she observed, perhaps willing everything that had gone wrong before her departure to have undone itself. No such luck, whatever faces she had sought were not there. Sullen and with a furrowed brow she turned, granting one last glance to a particular cabin on the hillside and followed the well worn path away from the city that once held all, or perhaps almost all, she had loved. "You were right about one thing, Lefkos, this path will never be easy...but I'm healed now, and ready to serve Xan's purpose once more...may he guide us through these troubled times."

The family of Wicks, which had only recently taken up residence in Helena after being driven from Haense, move into an inconspicuous, small tower within the Eye of Man. The dozen or so Wicks come and go, gathering round a bubbling cauldron of Rat Stew. In one corner, a young Maple Townsend-Wick holds her younger brother close. "Don't worry, Bult.. we'll find a new home soon enough."

Jolfrey steps into the Eye of Man for a short visit. The bustling walls and courtyard surprise him as he remembers when this fortress was seemingly abandoned during the war. "They've finally put this ol' fort to business." He feels uneasy about having such a large Orenian presence only a few hundred meters away from his home Darrowmere.
