I don't think anyone has fully understood how this vortex thing works

It's meant to be seen as an opportunity to learn as you're writing

could staff explain their plugin instead? tossing a tag wont help ppl suddenly make sense of it and lengthens the time we're without a guide, if a good one even comes of this.

Please, this Vortex plugin is complex, most of it isn't even implemented yet, I doubt it's even finished - why is it up to the playerbase to write our own guides when we don't even have access to anything more than the extreme basics?

I will say that I find it quite disappointing that the development team have tried to get the player base to create a guide from code they have not worked on, rather than them create one themselves. I find it as a way for them to cut corners as they might not be confident or skilled enough to write their own guide for their project.

I will say that although as someone who supports Vortex, as I enjoy the system somewhat, cutting corners and getting players to do something that should be their part of development is very lazy and improper.

p.s. to those writing it, some of those recipes are inaccurate and have changed as well as how there are more stations such as the woodworking station.

Haha! Just to be clear - guides are still being written, regardless of whether or not people decide to participate in the contest. This was moreso a way for players to also contribute if they so wanted to and earn some neat little rewards for it. Participation is optional and will in no way effect the completion of these guides. 🙂

Ah yes why have a complete guide prepared when you can just get players to do it for you omg guys thats brilliant.. would be kinda awkward if the players couldn't make a guide on something they aren't informed about and is in shambles...

The fact there is no guide ready at this point leads me to believe this plugin was rushed to get ready for 8.0. As a result there is next to no player input, and the few people that have tested it are shutting down anyone not agreeing with them.

As an idea I don't mind vortex, I think it has the potential to add quite a lot of flavour to lotc in the form of specialised weapons, armor and various ores. The issue however comes when you get stuck because you need bLaCkSmItHiNg ClOtHeS to make tin. Where do you get the materials for these? Who knows. Hides? Good luck finding those!

Building materials fell victim to this system which is near crippling for new settlements trying to get their build done these coming days.

Why was this guide not ready upon release? Why is the UI so bad, why was there barely any input asked from the majority of the playerbase? Why are there a select few people rallying around the dev responsible for this plugin to **** on any critism? People are willing to give vortex a chance, but in its current state I don't know why it was released.

Some nodes were invisible upon release, you'd think something like that wouldn't happen when you test your finished plugin in advance before releasing your finished product upon your finished server.

Please fix thank you

why did they release a system like this without properly finishing it? Why did they release a system like this without having a full in-depth guide written? Rly boggles my mind. Elementary school tier mistakes

That does not justify the attitude being put up against people being critical of the plugin. We just "don't get" it or we're not smart enough or too lazy to fully utilise the plugin. We can have opinions and we can dislike the plugin, that does not make us any less than the people who tested it.

The issue is that to my knowledge, and please prove me wrong if I am mistaken here there was no large scale public testing. The majority of the playerbase was not represented in the test process and as a result we got something we didn't actually ask for. The backlash this plugin has seen so far would've not been like this if people had a voice in this. The behavior from certain individuals only makes it worse for staff in the end, should keep that in mind too.

I understand that staff are also writing a guide, but what's with the sudden decision to involve players in guide writing? I'm not complaining about that specifically, but it's the fact that this has never been done before with anything else, correct me if I'm wrong. When have staff ever decided to get players involved in guide writing with anything ever? It's always been the CT and Mods who did this stuff in the past. Staff didnt make a contest for who could write the best new player tutorial, they didnt make a contest for who could write the best shop creation tutorial, but now its suddenly "write a guide for something half of you barely have a grip on after two days of using it"

If u ask me it comes off as a huge smack in the face when this has never been offered to players in the past, but now it is for something that 3/4th of the player base barely understands how to use
