Everything was normal at the d’Emyth home that night, in fact, upon close inspection the house would be spotless, perhaps as if a maid had come earlier that day.

Each and every table had been dusted, along with each book individually. The vases were shining, and the floor well swept and the only thing illuminating the inside of the home would be a dimly lit fire. As the hours passed, the sun would soon rise, and along with it, the many children within the household. As they made their way downstairs, they’d begin to fetch breakfast, and get ready for the day. Soon one of the kids would make their way to the front door, and find it… Slightly ajar. The family found this peculiar, as they remembered closing it last night. When they looked around their house they’d notice everything in order. The youngest child made his way into his father's office, only to find a few books scattered upon the desk, a few volumes missing, as well as a few maps. As they continued to look, they figured they would alert their parents to the opened door, and as they crept their way through the house into their parents bedroom, they’d notice one specific thing was missing… Alexander Leopold.

As Elijah Alexander awoke that morning, he’d begin his normal routine. Making his bed, brushing his hair and teeth, and changing into whatever he decided to wear that day. As he got ready, there would be a scurry of other children running about the house to do the same menial tasks he was doing. After that, he makes his way down to the kitchen, where he finds his per-usual breakfast already prepared by whichever staff member was working at such time. Elijah soon notices a draft coming from somewhere within the house, and of course he was off in search to find it!

He quickly discovers it was in fact, the front door, that had been left open. Odd… He’d alert his other siblings and soon they would all be traveling about the house to see if any of their prize possessions had been taken. Elijah wanders into his father’s office, which felt strange to young Elijah, as he was usually told to ‘STAY OUT!’ Though, he had gone inside on occasion when accompanied by his father. The office looked as it did, except a string of books and maps had been scattered about the desk..

At this, Elijah decides he must alert his father that someone had been rummaging through his things last night! He tries to gather his other siblings up, and march upstairs to their parents bedroom to explain, but upon opening the door Elijah would take particular notice of the fact that… Alexander Leopold was not in the room, or even the house… Where could he have gone?

Elijah would be off in search, hurrying out the door and exploring the town thoroughly before coming to the realization that… Alexander was not only missing from the house, but also the city. He begins asking around to no avail. There was no use! He was gone, and as the days passed Elijah had no choice but to accept his father… was gone.

As time progressed, Elijah would begin to believe that his father hadn’t just ‘disappeared’ but left. This was the undeniable truth, his father had never really shown compassion, or care for him, so why should Elijah spend so much time worrying about him? And at that, Elijah’s thoughts vanished. Though, in the back of his mind he will always wonder what happened that night, or what could have driven him away. But Elijah did not want to think about that, he would have the rest of his life to come to those realizations, the realizations that say, perhaps his father had the right idea with leaving.

But of course, Elijah couldn’t focus solely on the bad things… During those first few nights of Alexander's disappearance the boy would spend the hours reminiscing the good times. Specifically, the time that his father played Kingdom with him, as Elijah took on the persona of Elijah Alexander, Grand Knight of the Holy Orenian Empire and his father, who played the dastardly villain The Villainous King of Norland. Looking back he would realize his father had let him win that fight without a doubt, unless of course, Alexander really could lose against a five year old… He’d think of all the conversations they shared which, in the moment, seemed meaningless, and boring.

What Elijah would do for one more meaningless conversation… What he would give, to have had the chance to tell his father goodbye. And just like that, Elijah's anger at his father turned to a bitter pain one could not describe using all the words in the dictionary. Oh, the tears young Elijah would shed, perhaps not over the pain of Alexander leaving, but instead, the idea that Elijah simply… Wasn't good enough. Nothing could hurt a child more than the idea that they weren't worth sticking around for, which Elijah clearly wasn't.

"Oh sh-" Said the sister of the missing man, Leana d'Emyth would then drink her tea faster.

      The Missive

   --------------------------

Vespira Angelica sits at the end of her bed as she hears the news of her missing father. The girl purses her lips as she thinks over the events that have occurred in the past few days, the youth begins to scribe something on a lightly green tinted piece of paper. She then crumples up the paper, throwing it in the corner of her room, for she is too angry to write now.

The teen storms out of the manor and into the gardens, muttering to herself as she paces into the rose-filled gardens. The girl comes to a stop as she reaches the fountain in the middle, her gaze traveling up into the sky as she sits in deep thought. She asks herself if she was good enough, although she was the sibling that received the least of the trouble from her father, she can't help but feel as if it's her fault. The girl's gaze travels back to the fountain again, thinking back to when her and a friend made wishes in this very fountain.

Vespira pulls a single golden coin from her pocket and pulls it close to her chest, the youth mutters something, her eyes closing as she does so- pushing all her energy into the coin. She then releases the coin, allowing it to fall into the fountain. As the coin flips about in the air she remembers her childhood:

The Palace

-------------------------------

Her father was a cruel man. Although he never showed it around others, it still happened. Vespira never experienced any of this first hand, except for one time. Before the tragic burning of Helena, her brothers and herself were playing in the palace courtyard when Alexander showed up with his father. Henry was a kind man, and offered all of the children gifts. However there must have been some sort of outside pressure on the young d'Emyth's father, because he was acting weird around Grandpa Henry. Alexander seemed to have a shorter temper than usual that day, which made the following events a bit more predictable.

It may not seem like much, but through the eyes of a young girl it was. The sweet gifts Henry gave to the children didn't seem like too much of a controversy, yet they turned into something much more. None of the children were too content with their gifts, some of them even throwing them away when no one was looking, but none of them were vocal about their dislike for their grandfather's kindness except for young Elijah. Elijah spoke up about his discontent for the gift by crumpling up the cigar he was given and throwing on the palace grounds. Alexander was not keen on the idea of his son being so ungrateful and decided the boy needed to be punished. Alexander hit Elijah. This caused a flurry of emotions in the young Vespira's mind, but she pushed it all down until now.

The Wish

-------------------------------

As the coin splashes into the fountain Vespira's wish is sealed. She emits a huff of air as the coin plops into the water. The girl once again feels a flurry of emotions inside her. On one hand she is angry at her father for deserting her, but on the other she is guilty for pushing her father away. The youth has acted out due to her parent's absence in the previous months, and feels nothing but guilt for that as well. She feels that if she is to truly become a functioning lady of the courts when she comes of age she must grow up and make amends with the people she has wronged. The youth has no anger for the world anymore, but only anger for one, Alexander Leopold d'Emyth.

The premonition of something bad happening had struck Wallace Reginald. The pit of his stomach squirmed late one, rather melancholy, night. He always had a natural perception of future events that occur. It wasn’t any sort of divination… It had been the hyper-attentive - and wildly anxious - mind of Wallace. This over-awareness had left him confused. He stared the ceiling pondering the source of this strange and omnipresent feeling.

His father? The words ran over and over in his head. Of course, the two had not the smoothest relation. The cold words that his father had spoken to him, and the warmth of the backhand that had repeatedly hit his face haunted him. Wallace could never deny or try to hide the connection between him and his father. Although a brutal one, its described like none other. As the night grew on, Wallace would ponder the man he truly knew as Alexander Leopold. He was a quiet father who rarely showed his affection. This - typically frowned upon - composure had driven the children  to seek his approval. They knew that the one thing their father could be was truthful about the way he felt.

The night drove on and so did his thoughts. They raced back and forth questioning all the potential reasons he felt the way he did. He had pushed aside these feelings for breakfast. In the sounds of the morning, he had forgotten about his strange intuition - until! The news of his fathers' disappearance had hit harder than any blow to the gut Wallace had ever received. The days soon after had consisted of Wallace’s full isolation from his family. He struggled with finding the motivation to stand up and move - why should he? The man that had said that he wasn’t a good enough son had finally proven it by giving up. The last remains of him were his ravaged room, etching his thoughts of his disappointing family in the mind of the poor boy.

“Goodbye Father,” Wallace says, gazing out on the unknown. Wallace had realized that he must take responsibility for the family. That he was the oldest and must firmly grasp onto his life. These thoughts subsided, while Wallace conceived another feeling in his stomach. Similar to the one he felt on the night his father had disappeared, although this one was different. This one held a rather hopeful thought. The thought that his father had left them to make them stronger - not to tear them down. That his father had done this out of his sheer love for his children had settled within Wallace like a warm cup of tea.

Much like how her father did not notice her own disappearance, Araminta Elouise turns a blind eye in the Seven Skies.

The Baroness of Woldzmir cast an indiscriminate eye on the missive, drawling to her eldest son, Sigismund ( @Nectorist ), "It's such a shame, really. The d'Emyths are friends of your father's. Pray tell, do you think there is anything to be done?"

Sigismund of Woldzmir snatches the missive from atop the desk of his mother, the Baroness( @Axelu ). The young man's face drops as he reads over it, clenching a fist as he draws to the window of the dimly-lit room and looks out upon the midnight streets of Providence. His voice, filled with conviction, does not waver. "By my hand, certainly. The city's run amuck with these ills, be they social or criminal. Now, we see women and children being slain, attacked, and kidnapped. It's nothing less than my charge to put an end to it, even if I must stand alone here, even if the d'Emyth boy is fated to never be found. With that, he departs from his family's lodging in the Augustine Palace, taking to the streets of Providence to learn what he can.
