The elderly Karl Amador in his mayoral office

Spoiler

Karl would pick up his walking cane that he’d been using more and more the past few years as he began walking towards the city gates of Karosgrad. He’d gotten less and less mobile and he’d known his health had begun deteriorating. Nevertheless the old Amador usually still felt pretty fit for his age, and so he didn’t worry too much about his medical state, continuing to drink regularly, smoke cigars multiple times a day and enjoying caramel candies which he often also handed out. Today he felt especially bad though. He’d wanted to head out to where their new family manor was being built a little ways outside the city to check on the progress after he had given a workshop at the academy. But the walk there had a heavy toll on the old politician.

For many, many years Karl had been a civil servant. He ran his first election, for the Imperial Senate against Konrad Stafyr, when he was quite young, and since then he’d been serving in the Haensetian Duma, the House of Commons and in the past decade up until now as Maer of New Reza and Karosgrad. Sure, he’d been getting tired of the work, but he liked how it brought him together with all sorts of people, and he’d tried retiring before and didn’t like it. Lately he’d been getting especially tired though.

As Karl wandered in between the farms outside Karosgrad on his way to the manor, he felt a painful cramp take hold of his chest. After knocking his fist on it a couple of times he groaned, going to sit down in the grass under a tree at the side of the road. The pain in his chest remained though, feeling as if it was being squeezed. After a moment he’d begin feeling extremely lightheaded as the pain spread from his chest to his jaw, neck and arms all the way down to his hands. He anxiously glanced around for someone who could help him, seeing nobody. Grasping his cane, he moved back to his feet, determined to quickly make it to his family’s manor, but falling back down in the grass after a few steps. He looked up at the sky through the pine branches above him as the pain didn’t seize. Neither did his lightheadedness however, and soon after closing his eyes it was like he didn’t feel the pain anymore. Like he didn’t feel anything anymore…

He knew the time would come, it had come for many of his colleagues already. His first love, his brothers. It came sooner or later for everyone. And he knew, he had to go away.

Siol weeps as he hears of his old friend's death, his eyes closing as he exhaled heavily "A man with the perfect dose of ambition on him..." the elf commented on the Amador, now seeing yet another human figure he knew from previous years fade away.

Brandt Barclay lowers his head to the death of the good maer, whom he had seen as a good politician, maer, and warrior, as he'd reminisce on the battle of Othaman keep during the Scyfling war.

Stefan Vyronov, the old Baron of Astfield, sat in his office within Karosgrad hearing upon the news of the now late Karl. "May GODANI bring you to his home within the seven skies. You've done your purpose and have accomplished things that you sought to accomplish. Fare well, Karl Amador, may you finally rest in peace."

"I never met him but, from the sound of things, he seemed a mighty fine man - of reliable personage who was able to get things done," decreed Elizaveta of Metterden, fluttering her gaze over the Amador's obituary before resuming her ritualistic perusal of the news. "GOD rest the fallen. The likes of my papej and mamej, alongside the rest of your kith, will greet you as you claim your place among the blessed deceased," she decreed with fervor, her bosom swelling.

Her toddling grand-daughter, her namesake Elisabeth Leopoldine, peered at her ancestress with wide, empty eyes.

"...What, did I say something?" Elisabeth teased, succumbing to animate laughter.

The elderly Angelika Bykov's heart sank as she received notice of her old colleague and political adversary's passing. She vividly recalled her tenure in the House of Commons and the bickering between the two. "He and I, we thought differently. Very differently," she discerned to her daughter, Karolina. "But he was a good man. He truly did wonders for Haense." A long sigh escaped her lips as she gently rocked back and forth in her rocking chair, carrying on with her sewing clothing for the poor.

In the seven skies, Sofiya Baruch paced in the ball room Ekaterinburg Palace in New Reza. Her features were youthful, without the wrinkles and marks caused by her failed marriage. The soft creak of the door opening caught her attention, as her gaze shifted she’d notice the newcomer, Karl Amador, enter the ballroom, the very place they first met. “Well it is about time.” She’d jest, quickly pacing forward to engulf him in an embrace.

He was her first love, and she was his. Throughout her life she’d continuously wonder if she had accepted Karl’s proposal before her wedding to instead run off with him would her life have been different, would she have been there for her children instead of abandoning them at a young age, and would she have been happy.
