⫷The Oakfoot Clan⫸

[!] Not to be confused with the Oakhands.

Ranks

Clan Mother/Father - leader, there can also be  a clan mother and father at the same time if the mother/father is married

Clan elders - Honorable figures in the clan, promoted by the Clan Leader, can give trials

Clan members - members that have successfully finished their trials

Clan beardling - Dwarf who are completing their trials

Each rank can be recognised by the coloured stripe on their arm, although clan beardlings don't have any (Correlating to the colours above)

Culture

The Oakfoots are generally very calm and peaceful and feel very connected to nature and Anbella, the hearth mother, Oakfoots should know how to survive in the wild and are great carpenters. Due to their love for nature they tend to make their lives revolve around it, this could mean they prefer to make their own food, drinks and sometimes even their own homes.

Before the first clan of the Oakfoots were slaughtered many were involved with the Order of the Druids due to their deeply felt connection to nature, most members tend to seek knowledge from the order and most become druids,

Due to their deeply felt connection to nature, Oakfoots are known to devote their lives to Anbella, The hearth mother. All Oakfoots are expected to worship Anbella, The hearth mother, regardless of dwarven race

Because of their amazing talent in woodworking, Oakfoots tend to travel from time to time, spreading their knowledge and selling their wares.

Trials

  1. Trial of Honor - This trial requires the beardling to show their dedication to the clan and to show that they are willing to do what it takes to be apart of the Oakfoots, The beardling but slice their palm and let a good amount of blood to drip into a chalice and mix it with some of their own ale that they are required to make for the trial, they are then required to drink the mixture. This trial was also made to honor the first clan of Oakfoot who were terribly slaughtered.

  1. Trial of skill - Because Oakfoot’s are known to have an amazing talent with woodworking this trial includes the beardling to carve a statue/mini figurine of something that could be used to represent the clan or their beliefs, this could be something related to nature, Anbella or forest dwarves in general.

  1. Trial of knowledge - This trial includes the beardling gathering extensive knowledge of something close to The Oakfoots, the specific subject will be told to the beardling by whoever is giving them the trials.

  1. Trial of worship - Due to the Oakfoots devotion to Anbella, The hearth mother, this trial requires the Beardling to build a shrine for her, the shrine could include various stuff such as candles, flowers or anything nature related.

  1. Trial of the fittest - Due to pure Oakfoot’s incredible skill of survival, this trial includes hunting down a predator and bringing back its corpse for a feast of the whole clan, because Oakfoot’s respect the balance and the way of the druids, the beardling is expected to not hunt rare animals, and only hunt animals in an area with a large population of that animal.

Rites

  1. Rite of Marriage - To show both Clan Members are committed to the marriage they must make a sacrifice, to do this they must gather their most prized possession and destroy it, in any way possible to get rid of it, this shows commitment because of a dwarves curse of greed, and if they are both able to give up what they hoard most, it shows they are committed, it is slightly frowned upon if they get a divorce as it shows they didn't take the time to think of what they were getting into

  1. Rite of birth - this rite is peaceful and requires the newborn to be laid in a ring of flowers and leaves along with anything else related to nature, this can be performed either in the middle of the day or night, once the newborn is in the ring the parents must recite these words three times “Anbella Maii huius benedicat babe in praesidium” (Which roughly translates to “May Anbella bless this babe with protection”) while they shout this they must throw flower petals into the newborn.

  1. Rite of death - When a clan member dies they are not forgotten, and there is a 12 day mourning process, the first 3 days are spent making sure the body is nice and ready to be sent off, the next 4 days are spent making a raft to send the body into the ocean while burning, the raft is made of logs and it is decorated with plants, the next 2 days are when the clan prepares the send off site and send the dead member into the ocean on fire and the last 3 days are spent grieving

History

The Oakfoots get their name from the first Clan Parents, Drood Oakfoot [M] and Endrith Oakfoot [F], and their name also means that they stand tall like a sturdy oak tree, These were two forest dwarves that decided to move away from hefrumm in the year 1713, they built up a clan of forests dwarves that wanted isolation and to learn the ways of the Oakfoots, The clan parents had 1 son, Dwig Oakfoot which learned a lot from them, he learnt the ways of the druids, and how wonderful nature is and why we should protect it he also went on

to become an amazing carpenter most of all, This trade lead him to go travelling when he was 85 years old, 5 years later he returned to his clan and he came back to them slaughtered, Trails of the beast of Almaris was left behind, this beast is told to be bigger than a bear and have massive horns that could be used to tear people apart, limb from limb, and giant jaws to snap a shark in half, its rumored to roam forests in the dead of night, the Oakfoot’s called this beast, The destroyer with that he went to Hefrumm, the village of the forest dwarves, he was told by his parents to live there if anything ever happened to clan, and with that he arrived in Hefrumm, wonderful people greeted him and so he decided to settle down there and try to rebuild his clan, The Oakfoot Clan.

Appearance

Pure Oakfoot’s are generally quite tall and not very fat, if anything they look like small mali’ame but the only thing that destingueshes them as forest dwarves are their long hair and beards, and also their Hunger and thirst, Oakfoot’s aren't really greedy but they like to hoard wonderful things they find in nature. The reason they are not very fat is because they are very active, that may be chopping up useful dead trees, running about in the forests and making beautiful art out of wood. Pure Oakfoot’s tend to have brown hair but have been seen with slightly ginger hair, their beards tend to be longer than the usual forest dwarf and their eyes are generally green although brown eyes are a rare occurrence. Most oakfoot’s, pure or not, tend to go for a nature style attire, whether this be, decorating themselves with berries and leaves or wearing outfits that resemble nature
