Edict from the Master of Coin

Issued Thirteenth of First Seed, Thirteenth Year of the Second Age

PREAMBLE

In the past the Kingdom of Norland had used an internal currency system to make up for the failings of mina, and allowing Norland to regulate its own economy, instead of being weighed down by the failing economics of foreign countries. An old problem has arisen in Norland revolving around the mina which many Norlanders find difficult to carry around due to the abundance in which Norland acquires them, it is often seen within the capital, men carrying wheelbarrows of mina down the dockyards to the markets. The unsustainability and weightiness of the easily garnered mina offers an old problem to which an old solution may be implemented.

Contents:

     I. IMPLEMENTATION OF MARKS

     II. IMPLEMENTATION OF EXCHANGE

     III. ORDER OF ENCOURAGEMENT

ARTICLE I: IMPLEMENTATION OF MARKS

The office of the Master of Coin has once again minted and distributed four variants of the new Norlandic Mark using the system of old as inspiration. The Master of Coin has chosen to utilize these four variants as to allow citizens, merchants, and others browsing the Norlandic Markets to carry less Mina and lessen the amounts of visits to the Bank of Norland or a Vykk Co Banker.

The following are officially minted denominations of the Norlandic Mark:

     -Norlandic Marks

     -Norlandic Half-Marks

     -Norlandic Quarter-Marks

     -Norlandic Penny

ARTICLE II: IMPLEMENTATION OF EXCHANGE

The office of the Master of Coin has officialized the Exchange as a wing of the Bank of Norland. Those who utilize the function of the Exchange may Exchange Mina for Marks, and vice versa; the Exchange has established a system wherein purchased marks can be exchanged back into Mina with a 10% fee through any member of the office of the Master of Coin or Vykk Co. Banker.

ARTICLE III: REQUEST OF ENCOURAGEMENT

While there is no mandatory order to do so, it is strongly encouraged by the King of Norland and the Master of Coin to utilize Marks in all person to person transactions wherever possible in the stead of Mina so as to facilitate the continued growth of the economy of the Kingdom of Norland.

Signed,

Caedric Edvardsson, Lord Regent of Norland
