HE WHO NEVER RESTS, BREAKS [resignation/break]

It took Friedrich a few days to find out what had happened just as it had taken a few to find out that his sister was even the Lady Palatine. The man was busy with his job and kids and barely had a moment where he wasn’t working on something for the HRA or trying to teach his kids. What tipped him off to something not being normal was the absence of the daily small annoyances by his sister. He’d become accustomed to them as he’d endured them since he was five yet it was their sudden disappearance that after a few days tipped him off that something was off.

At first, he welcomed the ceasing of his daily routine of being bothered whether it be rocks being put down his shirt, trying to steal his cigarette, or trying to take his seat over. As the days dragged on, however, concern began to rise in Friedrich's mind as it wasn’t just a ceasing of her mannerisms towards him but instead she was gone completely.

He approached the tower in Reinmar that his sister lived in and tried the door. For the first time that he had known the door was open with the lights all had gone out from the simple passage of time. He slowly ascended the tower till he came to the top of it. He waited for a few moments for yelling about how he shouldn’t be in her room or anything but there was none. He simply scanned the room and noticed a few things were missing. The first thing was her hairbrush, the second was her favorite mug, and the last was her bag. As he looked closer he found the letters on the table left for him.

Friedrich opened the letter addressed to him and read it in silence. He smiled despite the sorrow he felt. Marcella had finally gotten a bit of what he was trying to tell her years ago. Despite everything they had done to each other, all the insults and punches thrown between the two, he missed his sister and knew that until she came back that a part of his normal life was missing, nothing could quite fit where Marcella fit.

Arriving late at the gates of Reinmar keep with his cane, Alfred couldn't see nothing but a woman figure leaving, knowing in his heart that it is Marcella. Having not spent any special moments with young lady, with his cousin after all, it makes an old man grieve even more, dropping his cane to the ground before taking a seat on the nearby log, taking a hold of his cross.

"May you find luck and happiness wherever you are heading, my cousin..",he says, wearly signing a cross over himself, "Barclay in heart, Barclay forever." With that he stands up, taking his cane with a struggle, a single tear going down his cheek before entering the keep once again.

While taking a nap in his own office, Igor heard a faint noise of keys from the office across from him. After letting out a mighty yawn and cracking a few of his stiff joints, he opened the door to see the office of the Palatine was left open. The Speaker found himself concerned immediately, thinking there was some sort of security breach within the palace. However after inspecting the office himself and the other doors in the area, it made no sense that it was a burglary. None of the other doors were unlocked or broken in, and it seemed that the door was fully functioning. Then, a carrier made his way to Igor carrying a letter. The Lady Palatine, the first ever in history, had retired in short notice. Igor drew a heavy sigh, though he didn't blame Marcella. Despite having a short tenure and never showing her true potential, Igor had seen her growth as the Deputy Palatine before she took office. As he went into his office and sat down on his desk, which was riddled with stacks of papers as well, he wrote a letter to Marcella expressing his best wishes and farewells. "Safe travels, Marcella. I wish you the best on your journey..."

Isolde Barclay sniffled softly as she watched her Aunt depart from Reinmar, safely hidden from view insde the Fort Marcella had once showed her. The girl had not spoken a word in over a year, but she uttered something softly to the small figure in the distance in a hoarse voice, "Stay safe, Tante." She pushed herself under the bottom bunk - her brother's bunk - and began to silently play with her knight doll.
