19th of Wzuvar & Byvca | 367 E.S.

Jovenaars

Mr. Lukas Rakoczy (Presiding)

Mr. Lauritz Frederik Jensen (Assistant)

Lady Annika Anistasija Vyronov (Assistant)

Prosecution

Margrave Maric var Ruthern

Defense

Irene Sarkozy (Defendant)

THE FOLLOWING CHARGES WERE BROUGHT AGAINST THE DEFENDANT;

402.01: An individual who intentionally kills another shall be guilty of the severe offence of murder;

416.071: The crime of harming or attempting to bring harm, or kidnapping or attempting to kidnap, the Crown or the royal family shall constitute a treasonous offence;

THE FOLLOWING IS THE VERDICT BROUGHT BY THE JOVENAARS;

Jovenaar Rakoczy, joined by Jensen and Vyronov;

The Defendant, Lady Irene Sarkozy, was found guilty of both charges after a long trial. While the typical sentence for a noble woman for severe and treasonous crimes is death by beheading, the Jovenaars saw fit to change her sentence to execution by hanging, drawing, and quartering. This is intended to serve as a reminder to any with treasonous thoughts as to the fate that awaits them.

THE FOLLOWING IS THE RATIONALE FOR THE DECISION FROM THE PRESIDING JOVENAAR;

On the charge of Murder;

Jovenaar Rakoczy delivered the opinion of the court

Witness statements of the event describe the King shouting for assistance with intruders in his private office. The defendant was unable to prove that she was not one of the King’s assailants. Additionally, the King’s testimony in the trial proved that she had the intent to murder His Majesty; a charge that the defendent was again unable to disprove. For these reasons, we Jovenaars found the defendant guilty of murder.

On the charge of Attempted Regicide;

Jovenaar Rakoczy delivered the opinion of the court

A voluntary confession given to the Lord Marshal by the defendant proved that the defendant’s intent was to kill His Majesty. As other witnesses were able to verify, the confession was indeed given voluntarily, and the defendant was unable to disprove her own words. For this, the Jovenaars found the defendant guilty of attempted regicide.

It is so ordered.

"Hanging... drawing... and quartering... Dear Godan..." Igor comments as he signs the lorraine. He expected the punishment to be harsh, but he couldn't stand to think that this was truly the way it would end. He simply shut himself inside his own office, working until he passed out.
