“It is my sincerest hope that useless John remarries now, so the world can plainly see he is an infertile sword swallower. So the world can know that my dear, God-fearing Wilhelmina was not the barren one.” Renée Antoinette cooed, a gargantuan smile splayed across her face.

Upon the officialization of the annulment and it's public announcement, it would be whispered that her Grace, the Duchess-Dowager threw a wild party celebrating her close friends newfound freedom, a raucous gathering filled with wine, music, much laughter and friendship.

Josefina moved to gently tug at Wilhelmina’s skirts, curiously arching a brow. “Isn’t he homosex? Why did vy marry him!?” The young girl queried, folding her arms across her chest.

Along a lazy river did a tiltboat bob, adorned with the colors of the house Helvets...

Spoiler

A woman, red of hair, sat abaft that pleasure ship, enjoying a glimpse of freedom the likes of which she had been entirely deprived from in some thirty-plus years of persisting marriage. A breath, slow and steady as the tides she rode escaped parted lips, cut short by the gentle pull of a bairn on her skirts. To Josefina, she lofted a brow, offering only a simple,

"It is by suffering that we learn, my dear."

Turning back to the interminable horizon, she removed a simple gold band from her little finger, dropping it into the depths below.

A prayer was murmured below breath, thanking Him and his voice in the Pontiff for releasing her from what would surely have been eternal damnation.

Josephine Augusta looks on the news fondly. She knew little of her uncle, but she always suspected she had at least one trait in common with him. It was a shame that his marriage had not worked out as well as her own—but not all could be as loving and open-minded as the new Duke of Sunholdt.

Emerentia simply grabbed ahold of her glass of gin and took a hearty swig from it, alongside the brief puff of her cigarette. She would turn to her adoptive daughter Natalie and simply remind the youth; "Men are wallets. If they are broke, they are useless." @DesiredBreakfast

Word of the annulment swiftly reached the Augustine Palace and to the ear of the Majordomo, Milena Carrion. For but a moment she paused to consider what changes would be made to the palace now without the Duchess of Helena, yet found there to be little.

Oh well,” she muttered, and continued on without another thought.

"Men are Wallets!" The girl repeated with a soft chuckle as she clinked her glass of apple juice with her mother's gin. "I guess I will need to be searching for a 'wallet' soon." @DahStalker

“Alright,” remarked the Holy Dame Helena with indifference, carrying on with her bouts of sparring without further delay.

It was then that a raven-haired man hummed a jovial tune, gaze peering out over a horizon of ocean waves crashing against each other. He released a quiet, contented sigh, as he pried his eyes away from that sea, instead turning to the redhead and their young girl. He brought a ring forth from his pocket, one of gold betwixt with obsidian, and presented it to her. "Nie more suffering." He spoke.
