Preamble
In celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Kingdom of Norland’s reformation under King Caedric I,, the King’s Council, alongside the general population of Norland, are hosting a series of traditional activities to allow both foreigners and citizens alike to experience the Norlandic culture. We are dubbing this event, the “Norlympics”. All who care to act in good faith are welcome to participate in the festivities and the chance to win one of many contests over the next few days.

 

Although anyone can attend, invitations have been extended to the following nations:
The Dual Monarchy of Hanseti-Ruska
The Grand Kingdom of Urguan
The Rexdom of Krugmar
The Crown of Elvenesse
The City-State of Yong Ping

Day 1
The day will begin with a few rounds of Chess to demonstrate intellectual prowess and skill. After the board game has been completed, a monumental feast will be taking place in Varhelm Square to celebrate. Following the main feast, a drinking competition shall commence to finish off the day’s events.

Day 2
The second day shall begin the Cultural Trade Fair. Each nation shall be granted their own stall with which they may sell, trade, or give away wares and foodstuffs that are iconic to their culture. Beyond this, there will also be sagas of Norland's history and its legends. The most adventurous individuals may even undergo the 'Ashwood Dive’, a competition that tests your courage and bravery.

Next on the agenda is the Olbard, a traditional Norlandic fighting competition. Participants must partake in a traditional Ashsap beverage prior to combat. Any man of good health may nominate themselves to be put into the tournament bracket where they will fight until first blood. Upon reaching the end of the tournament, the victor shall be deemed the ‘Best Olbardsman in Nyrheim’. In celebration of this, each participating nation will select a team of pugilists from their nation to compete and determine which nation has the strongest warriors.

 

Day 3
On the final day there will only be one main event, the 'Melee'. The Melee is an ancient Norlandic activity where every warrior fights until only one can stand. The victor will be crowned as the best warrior in all of Nyrheim. After the event, medals will be awarded to the victor of each category and their runner ups. The winner of the Melee will be given a unique set of armor made from items of cultural significance to each participating nation.

Norland is officially re-established as a Kingdom one year ago, on April 17th, and we’re celebrating it with our own twist on the olympics, we had planned for this to be a much larger celebration with many more events and games to participate in, but alas real life got in the way, and exams, occupations, and family will always trump mineman, however, it's still a major milestone for Norland, so we’d appreciate it if you could come on down to Varhelm and celebrate with us and have some fun.
