CHAPTER I: BACKGROUND

Until just a few Stone Days ago the position of Lord Purifier was held and maintained by the late Thorfinn Kursin, first Lord Purifier of the restored Order. As many citizens of the Kingdom may know, the late Thorfinn was captured during a raid on the Capital of Norland and subsequently drowned in the river when the Imperial State Army attempted to take him captive via boat. Lord Purifier Thorfinn was a good friend to many and a mentor to more, guiding the new generation of Purifiers through four long years of turmoil. Even at the outbreak of the war between Norland and Oren, Thorfinn was steadfast in his duties as Lord Purifier and continued to train and mentor the new Order of Purifiers until his death.

As the Late Thorfinn was a respected and honored figure, it is the wish of the Order to request that his name be respected and remembered, protected from slander and abandonment. Nevertheless, following the funeral of the Late Lord Purifier, the new generation of Purifiers organized a secret meeting in the Hearth Temple. Upon a lengthy discussion, the present Purifiers decided that the only fit replacement would be one of their own who had been mentored and trained by the late Lord Purifier. After yet another discussion, it was decided that the Order would hold an election from within its ranks to choose a new Lord Purifier to lead the order into the future.

CHAPTER II: THE ELECTION

Upon gaining the approval of High Keeper Alisa Camian, the Order began to talk among themselves about who should be elected from their ranks. From there, nominations were casted and by the meeting's end two purifiers had been nominated for the position whom shall remain unnamed for this chapter. These two Purifiers were the very first to have joined the new Order, and had served together on a number of missions and were both the most experienced members of the New Purifiers. Upon being nominated, both brothers accepted their nominations and spoke about what they would do with the position of Lord Purifier to the brothers present. After several hours it was decided that the election would be held the next Stone Day and letters would be sent to the Purifiers who were not present for the event.

The next Month, the ballots were handed out to each Purifier within the Hearth Temple who would fill it out and then place it into a singular box with the sigil of the Purifier order at the front. After an entire Month of voting, the Ballot was closed and the votes were counted.

CHAPTER III: ELECTION RESULTS

The ballots were counted with a total of 900 votes being validated by the Order. After a full day of counting, it was decided that the Purifier who had won the election was none other than Viktor Eldrsson, the very first new generation Purifier who had joined almost immediately following the reformation of the Order. The vote was extremely close with Viktor having won 60% and the other candidate winning 40%. Regardless, the Order embraced the outcome of the election and has therefore named him Lord Purifier Viktor Eldrsson.

Following his ascension to Lord Purifier, Viktor has promised to continue his duties as a Purifier and to do his best to follow in the steps of the Lord Purifiers who have come before him. It is the belief of the Order that he shall guide them to the future and continue to combat the Long Dark. The task of Lord Purifier is not a simple one, and yet Viktor has proven himself worthy and capable of putting up with the burden. All that remains now is the approval of the High Keeper to solidify his position as Lord Purifier.

A new era of the Order of Purifiers has come, may the All-Father's light guide us all.

On one cold night in the Hearth Temple, a solitary, hulking figure sits by the hearth. A set of Purifier armour glimmers in the firelight, lain on the ground by the man's feet, as the man himself faces the flames flickering in front of him. His eyes move not a single step away from the fire as he contemplates, the heat his body usually rejects now surrounding him in a comforting warmth. The air lay heavy, as if the temple itself grieved its loss. Ay, he could feel the weight of duty here - the weight of Thorfinn's legacy.

After some time in silence, Viktor Eldrsson turns to the armour beside him, grasping the helmet with large, scarred hands, and brings it level to his face. The helmet stares back at him; a cold, unflinching plate, unyielding and resolute. Viktor's eyes fall to the image of the Ashwood tree emblazoned on the chestplate, and he opens his mouth, as if to speak - but no words come out. There is nothing to be said. He has opened his soul to the flame, bearing all doubts, all worries, all uncertainties, all thoughts naked to the All-Father's vision, and let the light guide him to the singularity of his spirit. Cleansed. Purified. Determined.

Viktor rises to his feet and dons his armour. Slowly, methodically, piece by piece, re-assembling himself to now match his invigorated resolve. The Father's Tenets shall be upheld. The Order of Purifiers will prevail. Thorfinn's ambitions shall be seen through.

A small, mournful smile escapes Viktor's lips before grim stoicism wipes it away. He lowers his helmet over his head - the final piece of his uniform, and the shouldering of the All-Father's faith in his Children. Two piercing, ice-blue eyes now gleam from behind the visor. Viktor is ready.

His soul is ablaze.
