THE EMPEROR FATHER

ᛞᚨ-ᛟᚱᚨᛗᚨᚱᚱᚢᛗᛗ-ᚴᚨ'ᚨᛉ

On the 18th of Amber’s Cold, in the Twenty-Ninth Year of the Second Age , under the plagued city of Luciensburg an elder son of the mountain snow fought amongst few kinsmen and more strangers against the ratiki horde. It was of no immediate threat to the retired emperor or his folk, but even in his white bearded old age he sought it best to devote himself to Dungrimm’s glory and vanquishing enemies of Khaz’A’Dentrumm. Here he gave to the world one final gift, his dying breaths spent protecting a home far from his own.

Such was the way of Rhewen ‘Papa Bear’ Frostbeard, a selfless dwarf dedicated in entirety to his nation, taking on countless duties and sacrifices throughout his long life to bring glory to Urguan and the honored Elder Clan Frostbeard. Unlike many of his fellow longbeards, he never ceased to serve Urguan so long as he could find his way to its halls, and never did he put his own interests or his clan's interests over his gods.

Paragon Rhewen ‘Papa Bear’ Frostbeard was a formidable yet warmhearted dwarf, being both the founding emperor of Vandurguan and father of countless Frostbeard Clan traditions and lines. Renown for his great feats of conquest, he saw the dwarves through the terrible Eighteen Years War started by his predecessor, bringing a stalemate out of an imminent defeat to the Empire of Oren, then later forged the second dwarven empire through the vassalization of Vandoria and Khalestine. He reigned as Lord of the Frostbeards for many decades and is credited as the source of numerous traditions of the clan, and many times throughout its history had he stepped in to bring it to honor and glory. Chief among his achievements, however, was the mandate of Khaz’A’Dentrumm by which through divine runic magic the dwarves witnessed Rhewen be crowned and blessed by an ancient king with the true crown of Urguan Silverbeard. Into his retirement Rhewen still served, reforming his clan a final time and dying in the depths of Luciensburg whilst fighting Ratiki forces endangering his kin and allies. For his legendary feats of valor and sacrifice, Rhewen Frostbeard has been recognized as a Paragon of Dungrimm.

From within the halls of Tal'Rhewenholm, the Frostbeard hold named after the late Paragon, Azkel Frostbeard would hold the missive within his hands, his eyes being unable to control the tears running down his cheeks. The now Paragon was more than an idol to the dwed, he was his father and best friend. "As great in loife as heh now is in deat'" he'd say to himself after minutes of silence. With his father's honor officially recognized by both man and the gods, a piece that has been missing in the dwed since Rhewen's death can finally begin to heal.

Stiorra Frostbeard quickly wipes a tear off her cheek as she finishes reading the missive. She takes a deep breath and returns to stabbing the scarecrow with renewed vigor.

A knight reads over the missive from their castle office, their view of the sprawling mountains just out of sight of the capitol. Their gauntleted hands tremble as tears roll down their cheeks in remembrance of their old friend, one they had known for far too short of a time. The honors rightly bestowed to Rhewen offer a growing light of hope amongst the grief, and the orc soon rises to speak with their comrades about the statue blueprints for the newly appointed Paragon.

As word reached Valindra, she fondly recalled that one time in Haelun'or when her, Rhewen and others tried to get their hands on the booze behind the tavern's bar, only for all of them to get their asses handed to them by the seemingly indestructable wooden door that stood as a barrier between them and the goods.

"Rest easy and wherever you are, I hope you have free access to alcohol without the threat of being knocked out by running into doors."

A small smile thinned her lips as the dwed who she'd come to like over only one meeting, became immortalized in bortu history.

A young Beardling who only recently started following Capital news would raise his brows with reverence and respect. As Grimdal kept reading he scratched his forehead. "Ah new Paragon?" he frowned. "Well, ah wish ah go' ter know 'im suuner, may Dungrimm guide yer on yer way." he said as he ushered quiet words to the Brathmordakin.
