Dubbing of the Knight Paramount:

DROWNING OF THE BLADES

“It is the Knight who heralds the will of the Crown. It is the Knight who assumes the mantle of paragon seeking neither glory nor gain. It is the Knight who aspires to embody the perfection of Godan’s creation.”

Since the Edict of Knightly Orders reestablished military knighthood in the Kingdom of Haense in 343 E.S., the Order of the Crow has served as the cohort of warriors trained in arms, chivalry, and virtue to serve the people of Haense, while the elites of the Marian Retinue have devoted themselves to the protection of the Crown.

It is the duty of the Knight-Paramount to cultivate and lead the ever-shifting Orders of the Crow and the Marian Retinue, yet to this date, no formal ceremony of dubbing a Knight-Paramount has been adopted into Haeseni custom. Therefore, the Drowning of the Blades - a ceremony inspired by Canonist and fictional knight customs - shall now serve as the appropriate accolade.

THE DROWNING OF THE BLADES

I. The Drowning of Blades shall always take place at a deep body of water. The Crown and the warrior named to serve as Knight-Paramount gather at the foot of the water, observed by the rest of the Knights and any other witnesses.

II. The warrior named to serve as Knight-Paramount shall kneel before the Crown, and accept the burden that has been delivered unto them.

III. The Crown shall take the blade of the Knight-Paramount, and then throw it into the depths of the water.

IV. The warrior named to serve as Knight-Paramount must dive into the water to retrieve their blade, but not yet resurface.

V. While the Knight is submerged, the Crown shall recite the duties of the Knight-Paramount.

VI. Only once the Crown has concluded, the warrior named to serve as Knight-Paramount may resurface.

VII. When the warrior returns to shore, they are dubbed officially as Knight-Paramount of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska.

“A fitting initiation for such a lofty office.” says Father Jeremi.
