Manite

Material Name and Description (Raw form)

Manite is a stone which bears a consistency of wet sand, though is highly inconsistent in this property. Often, Manite is in differing forms of shape, size, hardness, density, and so on. Some forms of Manite even bear a density so fine it competes with air for space as it floats above the earth. Manite breaks all conventional and known laws of properties, even inexplicable to Voidal Magi who may make the most use of Manite- even some able to manipulate so. Manite is most commonly found in the darker spectrum of cold colours, generally navy blue and deep purples.

Manite is found within Voidal Hollows, often replacing the stone which was impacted by the event which caused the Hollow to form. Bombarded with an immeasurable amount of highly potent voidal mana, Manite would, initially, bear the consistency of stone and soil commonly found within the region of the Hollow Event. However, with manipulation by Transmutation- Manite may have it’s properties change unrecognizably.

Applications (Raw Form)

Manite has no set use or application, highly variable depending upon the whim of the mage. Transfigurationists may use transmutation to alter the effects of Manite massively and at freeform. Changing the shape or size would merely add or subtract to the Manite- larger amounts and changes requiring more and more mana and effort. A skilled Transfigurationist would be able to change the properties of Manite on a much larger scale than a standard or amateur practitioner. The stone never loses density unless such is altered- which simply adds or subtracts in a similar manner to size. Alteration of colour and temperature are the most notable for having little to no effect upon Manite, unable to shift it from it’s ambient cool temperature. These properties may bear a unique trait from their specific hollow should it affect them in such a manner.

Red Lines (Raw Form)

-Alter Shape and Density easily break the redlines of Transfiguration when used upon Manite, which simply adds or subtracts mass in accordance to a shift in size and density.

-Altering Density or Position, one may easily allow Manite to have the power to float above the earth.

-Alter Colour and Temperature bear no effect on Manite.

-Manite has a cool ambient temperature, never exceeding [60] degrees Fahrenheit, or [15.5] Celsius.

-Manite has a consistency of wet sand, though may be easily hardened to a strength of steel, or weakened to a viscous mud-like liquid.

-Manite is a playersigned material, and may only be gathered from Voidal Hollows. If there is no Voidal Hollow active upon a map which one may gather from, one may not create Manite.

-Manite, though afflicted by obscene amounts of mana, stores none. (Thus, it cannot be used as a ‘battery’).

-Manite is not unordinarily susceptible to any material or magic.

-Manite requires more mana based on the amount being manipulated. A magi may manipulate up to [5] cubed meters [5x5x5] before fully exhausting themselves for a full OOC day.

-Despite how voidal artifice (Tears, Nodes/Hollows, Obelisks, etc.) may fortify a magi’s pools, the [5] cubed meters referenced above may not be exceeded without posing a direct danger to a mage’s state of health.

Harvesting Method

Manite may easily be harvested without issue by simply picking it up and storing it without any trouble.

Harvesting Red Lines

-Manite, at base, weighs proportionally as much as standard stone would in the region it was created. Thus, one may not fill a sack with Manite and walk away without issue, or even at all given the weakness and exhaustion Hollows would bring.

-Mass creation of Manite items would be considered powergaming given the nature of it’s harvesting and usage, and is at discretion of the ST.

Purpose (OOC)

Manite is a semi-forgotten piece of “Material” lore on LOTC utilized in Void Nodes & Hollows. Given the recent state of Ando Alur and it’s effects, we feel it would be beneficial to make a return to LOTC as a small, semi-harmless, creative material which serves as a narrative piece for players to creatively use how they see fit.
