Why now?

It was not the first time that Sigismund III has asked himself that question. He stood at the balcony of his bedchamber, in his shirtsleeves, and shivered as the night wind pricked at his forearms and neck while he watched the light of lanterns on Trelkastriet.

Reports of the Azdrazi had existed for decades. Some of the reports even placed Azdrazi as aides to Haense during the war against the Rimetrolls.

So, why now?

Why were attacks against the Church happening now? Why was this group, who were documented as existing for decades, making moves now?

The only thing Sigismund knew was that he was missing a piece of the puzzle.

Philip II could be seen that day, all day, praying for the souls of those lost to the curse of Azdromoth.

"Surely the Lord would show mercy to those lost souls, manipulated by the vile lizards," the Emperor laments to his trusted friend and soldier, Julian. "If they can be saved, then let us try. Or at the least, we can send them to the Lord, to deliver upon them the judgement only He may administer. Mercy in the face of such profound heresy would be nothing but weakness."

With crossbows aimed at him by the Emperor's order, Isa Basrid mutters these words, "I love Haense, I hate lizards." He did like Haense, it was the second part the Emperor had forced him to say.

Captain Sir Robert Archibald Galbraith skims the missive "I love Haense and I hate lizards." he smiles blankly at the crossbow pointed at his head by the order of the Emperor. No doubt Robert both loved Haense and hated Lizards however. He did wonder why the Crossbows were needed.

"DEUS VULT! GOD is who we fight for! We send the evil-spawns right back to the Deceiver!" A squire of the Supreme Order of Exalted Owyn called Philip Hughes de Rosius exclaimed, rising his sword up as he prepared himself in case he runs into an Azdrazi.
