Letter to the Royal Duma:

On the Future Prospects of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska’s Diplomacy

VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ALDYLEVAR,

Our war with the Elves of Haelun’or has finally reached a conclusion and a victory has been secured through careful negotiation and a military so fearsome that the Elves did not dare to meet us on the field. I applaud our government’s efforts in defending the honour of our Prince most diligently, yet now it comes time to close the book on this era of diplomacy and begin anew.

Our position in the world has been relegated from previous administrations lack of wish to push forth in meaningful alliances or even to stake our claim to the centre of Almaris. Those nations around us which seek to do nothing in the world beyond bloat within it are doomed to find lack of glory and worthy friends.

We must cut those nations which seek to take the crumbs from our table. What do alliances mean for us beyond being a piece of paper? Alliances must be prosperous and useful for both sides. It means more than war; it means engaging with one another often. Inviting one another for common revelry and heeding the call of one another. We must expect more of our friends than the minimum and not hold our alliances so frivilishly.

I resolve therefore that there can only be one outcome in dismantling these useless alliances and finding those who we truly value to count as friends, for it is only they who will be worth allying ourselves to when the time for war and glory comes.

This Letter does suggest the following:

I. To no longer renew defensive alliances or non-aggression pacts without proper cause.

II. To search for those nations that are more than a “defensive alliance” on paper.

Signed,

Lord Joren Ruthern

Erwin Bishop discovers a newfound respect for the Lord Joren, reading the missive with much joy and enthusiasm.

"Vell, ich disagree vith zhe forst point, zhere, Lord Joren. NAPs ensure zhe videspread security against frivolous vohrs, und zhe unfortunate dragging of our kongzem into zhem." Erwin breathes out, pacing around the room and waving the paper around as he rubbed his chin and motioned to his son Ariovistan (@__DeusVult__) every so often.

"However; zhe formation und dissolutions of alliances indeed ought to bear more fruit zhan amplification of vohrfare strength; if zhe great Kongzem of Haenseti-Ruska ist to call somevon ally, it ought to mean zhat ve reflect eachozher's morals, zhat ve take PRIDE in eachozher's respect, zhat ve REJOICE in companionship!" The man breaks into near incoherant laughter.

Erwin sits back down, sighing as his son probably thought him a mad man at this point. "So blessed am ICH, to have been chosen as zhe ambassador to Haense's most esteemed ally of Urguan." He drops to his knees, hands clenched together in front of him with his eyes shut, facing up towards the heavens. "GOTT as mein vitness. Ich vill committ mein upmost efforts to strengzhen zhe bonds betveen zhese 2 great descendent nations. Gott give mich zhe strength of reason und standard of vill to do such!"

Eriwn then sits back in his chair, near-breathless. "Ich vill write zhis Joren ein letter. Ich had NIE idea he vas so vell versed in zhe field of politics..."

[!] Ariovistan Bishop would fake a smile once his father began babbling about the "Office of Envoy" and recent topics on it. He was used to talk, however, it slowly began to sound interesting and something he was more willing to listen - however he still took the chance to give his father Erwin Bishop a hard time.

"Ja ja vatter- Mozher, Cassio, Helena und ich do niet care"

He would run away giggling, away from his angry father.
