THE BATTLE OF THE BURNING FIELDS

The Heart of San Luciano

GLORY! Savoy is triumphant, having bravely sallied out to defeat the Voidal Terrors that dared to bring chaos to Canonist soil. As the powdered palace grandées of the Empire sipped tea in their ivory towers, the San Luciano Watch and Company led by Abbé Aubergine vanquished the forces of the Void on Orenian soil.

The air was thick with smoke as the fields north of Southbridge burned, but the monsters came at Savoy’s finest piecemeal. A gelatinous abomination in the shape of a man charged brave Corporal Berringer Brut and Roberta “the Demoness of Southbridge,” but a timely intervention of the Abbé’s brandy, Berringer’s sword and Roberta’s mace burst the creature into flames.

Meanwhile, a seahorse-man of the burning abyss tried to ****** Watchman Lucius Maxim in its jaws. But brave adventurer Esteban Sanchez subdued the creature with his bare hands, while Lucius and two others ran it through with swords.

The Savoyard party carried the wounded back to San Luciano, in a somber mood that was lifted by copious draughts of Ravensburg Red, and shared pride in a victory made conspicuous by Oren’s absence. For many months thereafter, Corazon hearts were stirred by the cry,

Remember the Burning Fields!”

Caius de Ravensburg would smile at the note" Shows how weak those inbreed orenians are. Can't even take care of their own lands....Though I do wish they'd let me burn the field afterwards. They deserve far much worse from what they got" he'd spit beginning to write another letter

The Demoness of Southbridge, would gleam with pride for her accomplishments of the mentioned battle, while reading this after her medical treatment by the generous Orenian medics, tending to her wounds.

((Loved the Savoy involvement on the event, hope everyone present had fun.))

Sergeant Amelia Eleanora scoffed at Savoy's shameful plug for fame. "There were more ISA there than Savoyards, and we even treated two of their wounded!" she commented to Sergeant Primrose Gendik as they cleaned off their medical instruments after a long night in the clinic. "Powdered wigs, oh please. We fought just as much as they did and yet they claim we weren't even there!"

Throws the missive in the fire  "Do the Savoyard fools not know there were more than one voidal terror"  He spat on the floor  "They did no more fighting then we did, less most likely"

*Nicole sits up as she receives the missive she frowns as she remembered correctly that the people who fought in the other fields came in only 20 minutes later, as the 4 ISA soldiers were doing their own battle, she also remembered them watching as they fought, they did not help nor assist. "Seems there will always be a problem, where we don't get credited at all"

shame

Sergeant Primrose Gendik folded up the cleaned tarp she had previously used under one of the Savoyard wounded. "I wasn't able to be there, remember? You got were but I had to tend to that seizing child first." The woman threw away the leather bag lined with beeswax that was overfilled with dried bloodied gloves she had used in the past 3 saint-days alone.

"I am thankful for the watch's help, but it's unfortunate that our teamwork wasn't spoken of. If one was without the other, they would be dead." Primrose sorted through her medical potions and herbs to quickly write a list on a piece of parchment of what needed refills. "No wounded to care for; only bodies of our comrades... If the voidal horrors even leave behind bodies." She shuddered just at the thought of it!

Lieutenant Hieran reads the missive with a shake of the head

"yes, yes. A true shame"

He puts the missive aside

"Honestly. There aren't enough of them to fill up a village. But when they do something they can't stop talking"

The langravine hugged her childern close as she read the missive. Thier hallowed halls that had been growing full with laughter felt zeroed in with the prospect of horrors.  As she read who was there her heart swelled for the men and women that gave thier lives to the cause on soil that was barely their own. pointing to the demoness of south bridge “oh don’t be scared little ones she is not even scary at all she is heroic and brave.”

Captain Erik Othaman goes to the grave of Sergei Othaman as he knelt down, planting a flower at the base of the headstone "Why did vy take that duel... I told vy that vy would lose it and here vy are. But at least vy death was nie in vain. The man who killed vy is now an Azdrazi and exiled abroad." Erik wiped a tear from his eyes as he stood up, giving the fallen man a final salute before pacing away at a solemn, slow pace. @GhostSHTR
