A Preface from the Koenas:

“I’ll admit I have put off writing this, my first Koenas Curation. However, having drudged up a copy of the late Koenas Isabel’s I was inspired and now see it fit to continue the tradition. Within this edition, then, I will disclose recent and upcoming events, as well as updates on our military, law courts, and Duma.”

I. General Announcements

The Royal Birth of the Duke of Schattenburg

As detailed in a separate statement from the Nikirala Prikaz, the Royal Household was blessed by the healthy delivery of the fifth child of Koeng Sigismund and Koenas Emma, on Vmey and Hyff, 402 E.S. Named Prinzen Josef Frederik, Duke of Schattenburg. Upon his birth, the boy was gifted an amulet from the Haeseni Crown Jewels: The Face of the North. To inspire and guide him through future troubled times. The Royal Household send prayers to Godani, thanking Him, and praying for the young Prinzen’s continued health.

Reconstruction of The Nikirala

Faint thumping, clanging and banging have echoed within the uppermost windows of the Nikirala for weeks now- as our grand reconstruction of 402 E.S takes place. Koenas Emma has overseen the work of builders and her Council, as noble apartments have been constructed- in place of the prior upper ballroom. Prinzenas Anastasya, being the one to draw up the plans with surprising artistic talent, has been managing it forthwith. Recreational spaces, lounges, and even a garden to overlook the city, will all be at our Lords and Ladies’ disposal as building-work comes to a close. Soon these hallways will be teeming with servants and bustling courtiers, as the Nikirala returns to its usual vibrancy.

A New Lord Palatine

His Excellency, Kaustantin Baruch, has stepped down from position of Lord Palatine - his many years of faithfulness and loyalty to the Kingdom will be sorely missed, though we look on with hope as His Grace, Eirik Baruch, takes on the mantle of the position and continues the prior Palatine’s work.

The Passing of Our Marshal

It is with a heavy heart that this Curation records the death of Sir Manfred Barclay; Valtakossar of the Kingdom; the former Duke of Reinmar and Lord Marshal. His family have detailed that his passing was peaceful, while surrounded by loved ones on the 14th day of Vzmey and Hynk. The Lord Marshal, in his youth, proved himself capable in both the Scyfling and Inferi wars. He served the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska faithfully for many years, and we will pray for his safe ascent into the Seven Skies.

Academic Pursuits: Re-Opening of the NGS & Scholar’s Guild Established

If you are of an academic or curious mind, and have not yet visited the new and improved NGS museum in Karosgrad, then hopefully this missive will encourage you to do so! Much larger than before, and containing extensive aracts and information spanning hundreds of years: it is a worthy pitstop. Further to add, in 400 E.S an Academics’ Guild was formed in Karosgrad, endorsed by HRM Koenas Emma and supported by scholars and the like across the realm. Their regular meetings and discussions remain broad, across any interesting subject. They wish to invite any who are curious - or wish to impart some knowledge upon the group - to join. Their guild lies at the Karosgrad docks, Lorena’s Wharf 4.

A Medical Breakthrough?

Our Surgeon General and ex-Court Alchemist continue to work alongside one another, making medical and alchemical discoveries regarding medicine. Their recent study, on pregnancy, was most successful. Now, rumour has it the pair have taken on larger goals: and are researching inflammatory and allergic effects on their patients. This noble work might just save a life, in the future, so the Crown have pledged to support their discoveries.

II. Royal and Court Announcements

Positions Available: Queen’s Household

In an upcoming reformation of the Queen’s Court- a group separate from the larger noblemen and courtiers, one wherein its members focus on advising and acting as confidants to the Koenas, as well as planning events for the wider Kingdom. The current positions available in this household are as follows…

Grand Lady

The position at the right-hand of the Queen, and topmost of the courts - who oversees the workings of the Queen’s Council and Court itself, as well as directing the Palace Custodian and Lady Chamberlain beneath her. Their role is broad, encompassing etiquette lessons, event coordinating, and leadership. They are expected to act as a figurehead, representing the royal court to highest esteem; both internally in our Kingdom, and externally.

Mistress of the Robes

A senior member of the Queen’s Household, entrusted not only to be responsible for the Queen’s jewellery and clothes, but also to spearhead fashion discovery as an expansion of our culture. This Lady or Lord is quite in charge of the trends of our court- and wider! One might publish studies, create garments themselves, or display grand exhibitions of recovered or original works of cloth. A new role, created under Koenas Emma to encourage further exploration into garments, which seeks a Lord or Lady whom many may look up to, for their stellar appearance.

Court Governesses

One of the nobler roles within the Queen’s Household- that of teaching the new generation of Royal Children in ways of courtly etiquette, encouraging a broad education. A curriculum focusing on history, the arts, philosophy - as well as the Haeseni ways: dancing, eating mannerisms, and so forth. Lessons are by no means restricted to the Royal Children; any children born from members of His or Her Majesty’s private courts may join. Governesses may seek private employment in any other house as well as the Nikirala.

Head of Servantry

Working alongside our Custodian, Lady Georgina Barclay, the Head of Servantry hires and trains members of Nikirala staff. They are to create opportunities of activity within the circle of servantry, hosting events for staff to attend. This Head of Servantry must ensure every staff member is active and contributing, while also ensuring that each feels welcome and protected.

Wardships

For the younger ladies, who do not have to be noble- one might add, under about 14 winters, wardship is very much an opportunity. Warding underneath the Queen’s Household, or a specific position like Grand Lady will give young lords and ladies experience beyond their years. To be set tasks, aiding the Council in their endeavours, as well as gaining insight into a possible career within the Courts. They will receive a royal-standard education. For those whose residence does not lie in Karosgrad, and instead travel from other nations - see the Ward Initiative below.

In the wider Court:

Court Poet

We have had many a Court Poet, who published their various works, and performed for Royals and guests handsomely. With Firress Mirabella’s retirement from the role some years ago, we have been lacking for prose and verse! If you are one for words, do not hesitate to contact the Koenas. This position might include entertaining guests at the Nikirala, performing at Court, publishing works and instilling a love of the written word to any who might like to apprentice underneath!

As always; servantry.

Contact Her Majesty, Koenas Emma, to apply for any of these positions. Most will be interview based.

Ladies-in-Waiting & Ward Initiative

With the expansion of the Queen’s Household, Koenas Emma is actively looking for any who wish to ward underneath herself, or a similar figure in her Council. Positions as Ladies-in-Waiting to various royals are also open if one would contact her. Wards can be of any blood, noble or not. If one is an exchange from another nation, part-time residences can be sorted in the palace to allow ease of travel and settlement. These positions provide an opportunity to shadow and learn from seasoned courtiers, gaining insight into the workings of Haeseni court.

The Court of 403 E.S

This year at Court, the two Princes will make their first public appearance, sitting by the side of their father and mother atop the dais. Thus marks the beginning of the Twins’ education, as preparation for their future roles within the Kingdom.

III. Upcoming Events in Karosgrad

Sledding Grand Prix

The Duke and Duchess of Valwyck, in their usual enthusiasm for festivities, are hosting a grand sledding race for any who wish to take part in the upcoming Saint’s days! Those who reside within the snowier climate of Haense have always utilised sleds to transport themselves and their wares to and fro, so here everyone has a chance to try their hand at the activity. Prize sums are to be won - of 250, 150 and 50 mina respectively, as well as plenty other Tuvmas activities for those not wishing to partake in racing the sledding track.

Lighting of the Tuvmas Tree

Another Haeseni Tuvmas tradition, by which a grand tree has been selected by the Royals - felled by local farmers and workmen, and brought into the square. Quite the spectacle! Once upright, it shall be decorated with string, ribbons, baubles and tinsel - passers-by are encouraged to hang ornaments on its lower branches. This Tuvmas’ tree has indeed already been selected for the chop. His or Her Majesty will elect a child to place the final star atop the evergreen, before the entire spectacle is lit. It is said that if ever the hanging lanterns blow out once lit, bad luck will befall the Kingdom’s new year.

A Tuvmas Ball

To end a rather triumphant year, the Duchy of Vidaus is hosting a celebration - as per Her Ladyship, Stefaniya vas Ruthern’s request - guests are recommended to don festive tones of red, green, gold and white! That who is best-dressed shall be rewarded and donned the “Tuvmas Poinsettia”. A night of drinking and dancing will ensue… as well as a rumour circulating that Father Tuvmas himself might make an appearance!

IV. Military Updates

Commendation of our BSK

In light of the BSK’s handling of the plot against our Pontiff, and handling of his safe return, it is only fitting to take a moment to commend each and every one of our brave Haeseni soldiers, loyal to one another and the Kingdom they serve. They represent all who fellow-Haeseni strive to be, and uphold such ideals. With tumultuous times ahead, it is easy to have faith in our capable forces: for they are, after all, a Brotherhood.

The Ghost of Richtenburg

It has been months since another sighting of this ghostly figure has occurred - though with the Palace’s public safety notice, it is still encouraged for those to keep their wits about them when travelling unaccompanied beyond our safe city, as the ghost’s appearance remains unresolved. Our fearsome Knights, with these murmurings resurfacing, will be returning to investigate the status of the spirit.

V. News on the Church

The False Pontiff

In a surprising and unexpected turn of events, a Haeseni delegation from the BSK saw fit to witness the coronation of Prince Oliver II of Savoy during a mining run. However, when the coronation was to proceed, it turned into a careless and opportunistic plot to overthrow High Pontiff Everard VI. Weapons were drawn, and the false Christoff began to crown the Prince instead. Weapons were drawn on the High Pontiff, and at the order of Lord Palatine Baruch, the BSK moved swiftly to evacuate the High Pontiff from Savoy, who returned to Haense safely thereafter.

Female Priesthood

Immediately after the evacuation of the High Pontiff, the Holy Church announced that women would from now on be allowed to serve within all ranks of the Church, from normal priests to even High Pontiff. Within Haense we already have our first female Acolyte, the former Princess Royal, Katerina Ceciliya, who has recently submitted her thesis. We eagerly await that she be formally ordained as the first female priest in Haeseni history.

VI. Updates in the Royal Duma & Law

The Family Dinner Edict

To preserve the Barbanov bloodline, a series of reforms have been scribed regarding the creation of Royal Cadet Houses, male offspring of the Monarch, and a relook at the nature of titles ‘Prinzen’ and ‘Prinzenas’. All in the aim to ensure the Barbanov-Bihar line is strong and its members contributing to Hanseti-Ruska, much like the common people who serve them. Take a read, if you wish to know more.

The 398 Elections

This General Election of 398 E.S was the first having implemented the Kingdom’s successful new format for electing those to serve in the Duma. To add to the excitement, there was even a duel for the position of Grand Maer, secured by Firr Rorikov. Now, halfway through their tenures, those elected members have truly settled into their roles. A reminder to the public of who currently holds these seats:

Viktor Barclay & Dianna Decaden as Royal Aldermen

Dracomir Rorikov as Grand Maer

Acolyte Katerina Ceciliya Barbanov was surprised to see her name mentioned in the post before she smirked

"The news spread fast I see"

Adrianna Darkwood smiles upon reading Queen Emma's publishing, and her face lights up in joy at seeing herself and her business partner mentioned for their work. "Remind durself to thank Emma wholeheartedly next time we meet.." She murmurs to herself before something occurs to her and she produces a piece of parchment to send the Queen a letter.

Barbara Morovar is passed the Koenas' Curation, gaze widening at its greaty bounty of news! She particularly squeaked in delight at the mention of a Tuvmas Ball, praying to Godan that there would be plenty of festive food!

"Hmmm..." Johann Ludovar hummed to himself reading the publish throughly. Narrowing his eyes looking at the open court position. He then grinned and passed the paper to his wife to see

Raijen Stars stumbles upon the paper, reading it to see what is it all about. Suddenly his eyes widened "Oh! I was mentioned in here!" he pointed at his name and chuckled at the unexpected mention.

Anya Ludovar took the paper, reading through the descriptions of open court positions. "Do you think I have a chance at Mistress of the Robes? It would be quite the honor."
