The Order of Blessed Nicolas

 

 

The Order of Blessed Nicolas was founded based on the principles laid forth by the life of Blessed Nicolas. Blessed Nicolas was Beatified in Quintus Aurea Bulla Providentia for his faithful service to God. During his life, he served the Church as Secretariat to the Pontiff and Pontifical Delegate to Humanity, as well as his devoted tenure as Equester-Imperator and Praefectus Castrorum in the Supreme Order of Exalted Owyn. Martyred during the Diet of Karosgrad, he was steadfast in his mission of the defense of the clergy unto his death.

 

With this in mind, the monastic Order of Blessed Nicolas was formed and based on the premise that its monks and nuns would always protect the clergy and the High Pontiff with their life. Katerina Bishop Valwyck being the first leader of said order. They are to always have loyalty to God and the Church, and to always walk a path of virtue. Monks and nuns were chosen to be the followers of this order as they often follow simple ways and have thrown away all comfort of their familial lives. With little chance of corruption to form when they are no longer bound to nation, family and blood, but to the Church. The main branch of the monastic Order follows the Ruskan rite and is based in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska.

 

Vows of the Order

- A monastic of the Order of Blessed Nicolas vows to train their body and mind for the rest of their years, so that they might be able to cast out the corrupted from kingdoms and the Church like St Julia did with Iblees

- A monastic of the Order of Blessed Nicolas vows to always protect the clergy of the Church  to the utmost, laying down their lives if necessary

- A monastic of the Order of Blessed Nicolas vows to rid the world of dark beings that corrupt or threaten the innocent

- A monastic of the Order of Blessed Nicolas vows to heal the wounds and sickness of their fellow Canonists

 

Ranks

- Priest/Bishop/Cardinal: The ordained clergy member who is approved by the High Pontiff is the head of the Order, with only the Pontiff being above him or her in terms of commands and loyalty. The clergy member is tasked with looking after the Order and overseeing the training the Abbot or Abbess puts the novices, monks and nuns through. They are also required to wear a medallion bearing the emblem of the Order of Bl Nicolas at all times. The Current Priest, Bishop or Cardinal of the order is: Katerina Bishop Valwyck

 

   - Abbot/Abbess: The Abbot, or Abbess if female, who is approved by the High Pontiff is a title usually given to a male or female head of a monastery. In the Order of Bl Nicolas they are considered the head’s chief. Abbots or Abbesses often are master theologians who train both priests, monks and nuns in ways of secular and clerical intellectual traditions. The Abbot or Abbess of the Order of Bl Nicolas is responsible for training all new monks and teaching them combat training, medicine and botany. He or she also is responsible for assigning tasks to all monks. The Abbot or Abbess is required to wear a medallion bearing the emblem of the Order of Bl Nicolas at all times.                -Monk/Nun: Monks and nuns are the backbone of the learned institutions of the Church, the monks and nuns will be learning combat training and The Holy Scrolls. They are to also practice their hand at medicine to heal those in need and their fellow brothers and sisters after a fight. They are required to wear their uniform and emblem at all times, their uniform is black with a medallion that bears the emblem of the Order of Bl Nicolas. They are to be addressed as 'Brother' if monks and ‘Sister’ if nuns. The current brothers and sisters of the order are:

              -Novice: Novices are apprentice monks and nuns, they are under the care of the Abbot or Abbess and spend their time learning the ways of Bl Nicolas and about the order and its duties. Given they have taken no vows, they do not wear any particular uniform or emblem and are addressed by their given name. The current novices are:

Missions

The mission of the monastic Order of Bl Nicolas is to slay beasts such azdrazi, vampires and other foul things that corrupt souls to their cause and harm those in their ways. And to save their souls of those possible from damnation, the Order’s medicine to be used to treat the wounded. They are to also guard clergy members from the corrupted and hold fast against forces or armies wishing to threaten and harm them.

 

Oath of the Nicolites

As Blessed Nicolas was so steadfast in his defence of the clergy as to give his life, so too will those who fill his order. Do you vow to be unrelenting in the defence of those who spread God's word, regardless of how daunting a foe stands before you?

 

As Blessed Nicolas was dedicated to guard those who preached what he believed, he was equally dedicated to maintaining his body for when it was needed. Do you vow to uphold a physical state of the highest standard, so that you may never tire in the defence of your faith?

 

As Blessed Nicolas was determined in his defence of all Canonists, so too was he in the recovery of those who sustain injury. Do you vow to take those lives in your hands, to heal them and ensure their suffering, no matter how overpowering, may end?
