On the health of the Marshal of Norland

Published at this 12th of The Amber Cold, year 58 of the Second Age

From the Office of the Marshal of the Ashguard,

To all members of the Ashguard and Citizens of the Kingdom of Norland, it is the wish of the Eiriksson Clan to keep the Norlandic Population informed on situations regarding the Military and its leadership. Therefore, it is with the utmost sadness that we announce that Ragnvald Eiriksson Ruric, Marshal of Norland and Ruler of Eiriksgrad, has been gravely injured during an encounter with the Tribesmen of the Raenrland. Having sustained a large blow to his chest, he is expected to take many months to rest first at the Varhelm Clinic before being moved to Eiriksgrad to continue his recovery. Despite the severity of his injuries, the Marshal is expected to make a full-scale recovery within a matter of months, though the length of recovery is not yet certain. Therefore, in the Marshal's absence from the field, his subsidiary Wardens shall take command of the day-to-day Ashguard duties and will be responsible for maintaining its activity until the Marshal's full recovery. We in Clan Eiriksson hope that the people of Norland will offer prayers for the Marshal's quick recovery, and that life may continue in the Kingdom unhindered.

Signed,

Ragnvald Eiriksson Ruric, Marshal of the Ashguard, Prince of Norland, and Ruler of Eiriksgrad

Friedrich Henrysson sat anxiously at his fiance's bedside, rarely leaving for longer than it took him to get a drink of water. Although he trusted that Ragnvald would make a recovery, he couldn't help but worry anyway.

Torstein Eiriksson Ruric cried himself to sleep on the nights where nobody was home, his pillows beginning to flatten at the despair of the boy. On rare nights of loneliness, he would try and sneak into the clinic in hopes his father was awake. Alas, he would rarely be, but the boy would snuggle up against him so that, come morning break, his father knew he loved him.

Leyna Edvardsson sat in Krew, reading it over, “He is lucky to be alive… stubborn man… nevertheless, I am glad he is fairing well.”

Astrid sits beside her Aunt, nodding “If he dies, All Father cries.” But deep down, Astrid was still terrified and often kept close eye on any post that came into Krew.

Alric reads the missive and sighs,

"Make a quick recovery, Marshal, we have need of you still."
