Sun and Smoke

Within the fabled Underkingdom it began - for a pact between the Sun and the progeny of Urguan was struck, an alliance and friendship centuries strong rewarded by the august candor of the Light. A people renowned for artifice would be returned their former glory, the heart of machination beginning to beat once more. Beneath the light of the radiant dawn, soon would smoke come to fill the sky, the smog of industry once more choking the lush forests with the stench of ironclad progress. For indeed, fire was the birthright of Urguan’s sons, and it was fire that they would wield to reclaim what once was lost.

 

It is said that the flame inspires progress, freedom, and release from stagnancy. Fire untamed is reckless, crude… destructive. Yet now, fire was brought to heel, the blows of hardy hammers bringing the untamed chaos to righteous order - for what is flame but passion, and mere fuel for the forges which wrought machines beyond reproach in elder days, and would do so once again?

 

For those who paid particular heed to the rumblings of the Mountain’s folk, it would soon be made clear in plainest fashion. Smoke and Steam have both been taken in hand by that righteous race - and the Sun itself would come to smile upon them. 

 

And even the Light shall shine through blackened clouds.
