[4th & 6th FEBRUARY]

A PAINTING DEPICTING NOBLES ARGUING ABOUT WHICH HANSETI-RUSKAN HOUSE IS THE BEST

VA VE EDLERVIK,

With the intent to build bonds between the houses of Hanseti Ruska, Lady Erika Barclay joyously announces the friendly competition that is “House Wars.” This multi-day revelry will include a number of games that each house will strive to win, and the winning house shall be the one with the most points accumulated by the end of the festival.

10th of Vzmey and Hyff (Friday, 5pm EST)

I. THE KING’S DUEL

The strongest men and women from each house shall meet in a tournament, where each house shall engage in at least one duel with each other. Competing houses must decide amongst themselves on whom they send, and they should keep in mind that each victory scored by their champion shall count as five points. The duels may either be a traditional melee, a competition of archery, or a chivalrous joust. This is up to the discretion of the King himself and shall not be made known until the day prior.

II. MELEE OF THE MINDS

A battle of wits is often as rewarding as one of brawn. Competing houses shall select their most intelligent member, who will represent them in a contest of trivia. Questions will be drawn from four different topics, all relating to history. Each correct answer shall reward the contestant’s house with four points, and the contest shall last five rounds.

III. THE GREAT HUNT

Patience is a virtue for all of Man, and is no small feat for those in our Kingdom. Only the most diligent hunters succeed in the sport and our Great Hunt will allow for each house to prove themselves as such within only a few hours. The heads of their game will be presented to our hostess, the more prestigious the beast the more points the hunter will receive.

The following will serve as an example;

Bird - 1 point

Rabbit - 2 points

Deer - 3 points

Fox - 4 points

Boar - 5 points

Wolf - 7 points

Bear - 10 points

10th of Grona and Droba (Sunday, 5pm EST)

IV. A TEST OF TASTE

A clash of the houses to decide once and for all who makes the best desserts in Hanseti-Ruska. These may be either traditional Haeseni desserts, or dishes drawn from the unique culture of the competing house. An explanation of the meaning and history behind said dessert must be presented before it will be tested. Only one dessert shall be prepared from each house, so choose wisely! The three houses which prepare the best desserts will receive five points each.

V. THE GRAND ROAST

One brave man or woman may nominate themselves to be the insulted, or they may be drawn up from the host in the case where none volunteer. Each house must then discuss amongst themselves and create the best insult to be directed at the insulted, which they shall write on a piece of paper. After each house submits their insults to the host they will be read to the crowd anonymously, and they will vote on which they believe to be the best. A house will receive five points per win, and the contest will last for five rounds.

As the nobility of the realm duke it out, the commoners in attendance may place bets on which house shall emerge supreme. Each man may make a bet of 25 minae, and those who bet on the winning house at the end of the competition will receive 80% of the bets placed on losing houses. The remaining 20% shall be directed to the House of Barclay.

The House with the most points at the end of all competitions shall receive 500 minae.

Adhemar Dusek would read through the missive, the recently made page would lean back in his uniform within the walls of Ghaestenwald, he would remain by the nearby fireplace, allowing the warmth to take over as he thought about recent events and the contents of the missive. He would then mutter to himself, "Should we go..." He would then let out a groan, standing up as he made his way towards his siblings and parents, pestering and irritating them in the hopes and dreams that they would also attend the event, "Da, we need to."
