Silan’siol

The Silan’siol is the martial backbone of a newly reunited Mali’ker. With the kinstrife of competing Mali’ker principalities upon the shores of Arcas, the unity and power of the Mali’ker withered and fragmented. With the founding of the Principality of Nor’asath, the regathering Mali’ker may at last raise steel with each other, rather than at each other. No longer do Mali’ker fight and die in the service of foreign descendants; now, they march for their own people, and for their Elven allies. 

As the Dual Principalities of Fenn and Nor’asath prepare to march to war in Malin’s name, a professional army must be formed and trained, that the banners of Nor’asath shall be carried forward by steadfast and tactful hands upon the field of battle. 

From White Rose murderers to High Elven slavers, descendant-kind has long disparaged and culled the Dark Elven people. Their scions shall soon see just how formidable Mali’ker-at-arms can be.

The Sableguards

The soldiers that have passed their basic training and graduated beyond the ranks of the Neophytes are called Sableguards. They are the rank and file of the Silan’siol

The Nightblades

Soldiers that have proven their combat prowess and leadership during tenures in the Sableguards rise to the ranks of the Nightblades, who serve as general officers responsible for holding trainings, logistics, and commanding in and out of battle.

The Onyxchief

The Onyxchief is the commander of the Silan’siol, and serves upon the Council of Nor’asath. Their command of the Silan’siol is second only to the Prince of Nor’asath; outside of the Dual Principalities (and within them during times of war), they are also beholden to the High Sentinel of the Ivae’fenn and the Prince of Fenn.

Strategies and tactics

The Silan’siol trains their warriors in all forms of weaponry. When battle comes upon the horizon, the soldiers of the Silan’siol are allowed to choose where they will fall in Cavalry, Infantry and Archers. The vast majority fight as infantry, and outside of formations.

Calvary follows the warhawke ways of bokolo riding. Using heavy cavalry in the front they face the brunt of the attacks while the light cavalry splits off behind them to pick off opponents.

Infantry and archers hold in the back behind the cavalry. A standard infantry soldier is armed with a glaive and a shield, though many wield weapons of their choice. Archers are armed with longbows.

Unlike other Elven armies, the Silan’siol rarely wield formations. Formations form the core of any army, but they can often be difficult to maneuver, and rigid. The Silan’siol fight best as individual fighters, relying on personal skill and the support of their comrades.
