An Artist’s depiction of the late Gildroc Goldhand

It was on a mid-day stroll that Gildroc Goldhand found himself beset by two Human brigands; Pisspot and Robert, quickly captured without much fuss from the grumpy bureaucrat, angered that his work had been disrupted. He went with them, hoping that whatever they wanted would be resolved quickly, finding his possessions looted from his person much to the Dwarf’s chagrin.  He was marched off to Oren, locked in a comfy cell beneath new Providence. Soon Duncan Vullier arrived, and the Dwed asked him his identity, learning that it was indeed the man who had started the war. He questioned his survival, having seen him die some years past at the hands of the Irehearts but was met with confusion from the man.

The dwarf was then bought a piece of parchment, and threatened to sign it ‘or else he would be cut into little bits.’ The Goldhand of course refused, chuckling at the shenanigans of the Orenians. He told them they could kill him, and cited the great Algoda Frostbeard uttering the words ‘this changes nothing’ to his Imperial Captors. Incensed, the one named Pisspot who had aided in his capture shaved the Dwed’s beard much to Gildrocs horror, tying the remains of his beard in a wig on the Dwarf’s head while Duncan Vullier held him down. The humiliated dwarf was then marched out his cell, up into the Imperial City towards the Cathedral where he was forced down and ordered to repent before their heathen God. The dwarf again refused, shaking his head twice when ordered to do so, for he repented only to Armakak his patron God.

Finally, the shaved Dwed was escorted out of the city, but not before further humiliation was incurred with the application of handy Dwarven shaving cream. He was then let go, the dwarf stumbling on his way back home. Anywho encountered him on the road, would have found a broken Dwed; a shadow of his former self.  Once he arrived home, the dwarf approached his cousin Torsun and summoned the Goldhands to his Clan Hall, where he made his intentions plain that he intended to die to pay the price for the dishonour he had incurred by having his beard shaven. The dwarf settled his affairs, then departed with his kinsmen to talk to the rest of the Dwarves in the city square. In a rousing speech, the dwarf regained some of his spirit, as he called upon his fellow Dwarves to resist Oren’s attacks and re-iterated again the infamous Algoda Frostbeard's words ‘this changes nothing.’ The dwarf then turned away after hushed words with Axel Ireheart, departing.

The dwarf soon re-appeared above the crowd, upon the palace roof in Kal’Darakaan. He soon stepped off, and in doing so took his own life. The Grand Steward of Urguan was dead, slain by his own hand.

The Tungdilson was no more, some say he now dines in Dungrimm’s Halls.

So this has been quite a ride, honestly wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I made the persona way back at the start of Lockdown in 2020 but it’s been fun. I wasn’t around constantly, infact I had a very long hiatus at the start of 2021, though I feel like I’ve done a lot on this persona and found the ending quite satisfying. It’s been a blast to be a part of the Goldhand Clan, which will always have a special place in my heart ever since I joined the dwarves in 2018. Feel like I’ve rambled on too much, but yeah it’s certainly been an experience.

The lord of the Aurokanar sat in his throne, his ever present and valued Clan Elder Torsun standing at his side as they both brooded upon what exactly had happened. He had not been there when Gildroc took his own life, but fury stoked in his heart when Torsun told of what exactly happened.

"There are no innocents amongst the umri filth...not any more"

With such words spoken, he moved on, beginning the process of laying his kinsmen to rest in riches untold.

Bakir Ireheart would promise to himself he’d find the Orenians who shaved Gildrocs beard and deliver justice to not only Gildroc, but the goldhands.

Mica sits alone in her clinic, clock ticking lowly on the wall in the dim medics office. The constantly busy clinic silent for the night. Before her the paperwork of her clan brothers death lay before her.
She has nothing to say, nothing at all towards the grudge or the death.
She returns to her writing once more.
The Kingdom felt more empty that night.

Duncan would hear of the passing through hearsay before marching over to Pisspot and Robert (( @XOCO )) “Shit lads, we might have gone too far with the bullying this time…”

Not many things had ever caused the dwarfess grief. Her mother's disappearance had brought some amount of tears, but this felt different. Something was different here, a friend she had made just more than a century ago. In dwarven terms it was hardly that long, but Gildroc's praise was one she had to earn, and as such the loss was altogether more painful.

A solemn Celeste'Tol Blackroot knelt beside the shrine of Dungrimm, a small collection of incense sticks set into a jar of gold dust. The dwarfess lit them with a small flicker on her fingertips, grey heavy smoke slowly billowing down to cover the stone below.

"Yeh di'nae have teh do this, yeh knowh..." A soft, though strained voice pulled itself from the grieving dwed. "But ahm sure et's teh way yeh would rather go, makin a grand display ef et all. A showmaster tae teh end..." A small plunk of water upon stone as a tear dripped from her cheek.

"May Dungrimm's halls treat yeh well, Gildroc.."

When Lulu heard of Gildroc's passing, her dark brows knitted together. As Grand Steward for Urguan, he was thought of as a boogeyman by many, as all dreaded 'Taxmen' before him. For the Umgorumm lass however, she remembered Gildroc as the Dwed she'd served beside in the Legion for years, shoulder to shoulder and shield to shield. She made sure to raise her tankard for an old friend, when next she filled it with mead.

Dimlin Irongut would sigh although this would suddenly break down into a sheer deluge of tears “Yemekar rest your soul Gildroc, and forgive me mah friend” He’d say, his regret stemming from his frequent outbursts and remarks towards Gildroc, though when all was said and done Gildroc was one of his truly loyal friends.

Angr would be high up in the mountains, sat atop a rotted log he had dragged into his camp as he watches his pork belly stew boil. He looks out to the snowy peaks, catching a glimpse of his pigeon swooping up from the valleys bearing a letter. He whistles for Yrsa, having her land on his bruised and bandaged arm as he takes the letter from her talons. "Good girl, 'ere. 'Av som' pegs feet." He mumbles, tossing a foot from the carcass of the wild pig he had slaughtered off to the side for her to pick at. As he reads the letter with his one good eye, he sighs sharply and scrunches up the paper into a ball.

"Weh lose moar ahn moar by tah dey, ahn yet stell..." He pauses, looking to his arms again. "Meh kin need meh." He says, getting up from the log and leaving as his pigeon now sits alone at the small fire, still eating its pickings from the carcass.

Somewhere from the depths of the waystone a horrid sound could be heard, the screech of metal grinding against metal as a certain golden lanky automaton grabs a desk and flips it over, gears, cogs, and bits of metal scatter to the floor, a unfinished gift never to be delivered to its home, whimsy crumples to the ground in a fit of delirium, cursing to herself as she picks up the mess, she begins to mutter to herself.  "Why him out of everyone, why was it him? it's just hair that could have grown back, didn't he know that?" she looks over at the table and hums as she moves to pick it up. "I can't let this happen again.. first that elgi now it's the oreni.. i have to do something" with that she shoves the now forever unfinished project into a drawer and shuffles off to find her creator.

Atandt would hear of the Goldhand's death upon the return of his fishing trip. That night he'd quietly remember the times of Gildroc fighting along side him in the war before muttering, "I have the feeling that Armakak will be paying a high amount in the auction for his soul."

Torsun sat at his desk quietly sobbing as candlelight danced off his tear-covered face. The strong display the gold dwarf had shown before the council and people of Kal’Darakaan was merely a façade, a suppression of his true emotions and sense of loss.

“Gone are tae days ‘o seein’ meh cousin take meh moneh fer taxes. Gone are tae days ‘o seein’ a koind father care fer ‘is daughter. Anot’er void in meh loife t’at I must struggle wit’. Will tae Brathmordakin eva’ answer meh prayers an’ guide meh throogh tis pain I feel. Will t’ey eva’ forgive meh fer allowin’ cos to take ‘is own loife? Or will I keep bein' kept from wot little joys I ‘ave left in tis loife?”
The dwarf closed his eye tightly, squeezing out whatever tears he had left.
“Are ye listenin’, cos? I promise ye tis.Tae grand grudge will beh entered into tae book ‘o grudges an’ corrected after I rip tae bloodloine ‘o t’ese cretins from tis world. T’em an’ t’eir children shall reap wot t’ey ‘ave sowed."

6 hours ago, Duncan the Fearsome said:

Pisspot the Foul offered Duncan a dark grin upon hearing the news. The man was a villain, through and through, and had no regrets regarding the ordeal. "If he actually had gold hands, I would've hacked his hands off and have been done with! A shame the only gold about him was his hair."

Robert, in a moment of contemplation was deeply saddened by the Urguani's decision. Despite this the Major turned to his servant to reaffirm his position "Tell me, surely if he had any sense they would have signed the document, no?" The elderly man sat at his desk for a moment reaching for a glass of whisky before turning towards his servant standing at his flank, "We did give him a choice after all..."

The Servant simply bowed his head politely, in that moment the Major frowned deeply turning back to the missive in front of him to continue reading dissatisfied with the response from his staff member.

Spoiler
