The Incident of the “United Sovereign States of Almaris” Discord

 

Though I am not entirely sure when the incident took place, it happened sometime yesterday (Monday, Jul. 18), it was yesterday when several individuals decided to take over the previous USSA War Discord as a joke, and pinged over 600+ people with a message along the lines of “The jester’s game has begun”, which seemed like a joke at first. I didn’t care for it, and I assume not many others did either. Except until the Discord icon was suddenly swapped to a Swastika, and renamed to something gutwrenchingly inappropriate, and terrible, but the contents of the Discord were far worse.

 

In the gyazo below you can see the new name of the Discord, and also how many people are in it. If anyone is denying if it’s real (even though there were literally hundreds of people who witnessed the same event as me), I’ve also provided a gyazo link of the server invite. [See spoiler below]

After the Discord was changed into this I hastily left, and I was strongly advised by my friends not to view what they were spamming the Discord with. [See spoiler below, it's just a description]

In the Discord, reportedly images of extremely graphic gore were being spammed, including things like bestiality. 

 

There are several rumours of who I heard this could be, but frankly, all that matters is these individuals are removed from the server and the community at once. They are harmful, and they have scarred people just from one instance alone over a few hours, for what may be a very, very, long time. And if they are already removed, make sure it cannot happen again.

 

Having experienced these kinds of fiascos before, I know how difficult it can be to get over seeing the violent imagery in your head every time someone even mentions something similar. I cannot fathom whatsoever how the hundreds upon hundreds of others in that Discord felt when they experienced the same but with a much more vast amount of graphic content. I cannot imagine how the younger audience feels. 

 

How has the server ended up like this? I think I am the only person currently speaking about this situation overall, there wasn’t even a lick of complaint in the LotC Discord. 

 

I am utterly shocked, disgusted, and overwhelmingly grateful that I had people who told me not to look in there when it went down.

 

P.S. if you're wondering why I decided to make a public post even though it contains sensitive topics, it is because this is a serious issue, and I don't want it to be swept under the rug like many other things in the past. I've spoilered all graphic material.

 

EDIT; If you want to speak to me more about the situation please feel free to shiloe#6245. My DMs are entirely open to anyone wanting to speak about it, this situation has left me confused and heartbroken. Most importantly, I think to prevent things like this from happening in the future Discords with a large community should be staff owned. It is terrifying how a single image, photo, or video can be shared to hundreds in a single click by a total stranger who has managed to get power in a Discord and change someone's life forever. It scares me that we are all vulnerable to these situations merely just because we are on the platform.
