DESERT CLOBBER

 

PHYSIOLOGY

 

The physiology of a Desert Cobbler is not that complicated. Their head is almost one third of its body, with a strong protective layer made of tough and rock-like hide to protect its main weapon, its forehead. Though at first glance it may seem they would be quite intelligent due to their head size, do not judge a book by its cover. Their intelligence matches one like that of a horse. Underneath the tough layer on its head lies its skull. Its skull would be quite normal if not due to the fact it had the desert clobbers tongue wrapped around it. When needed, the cobbler unwraps the tongue and spits it out, reaching 3 blocks in length. Its tongue would be quite sticky, allowing small and rabbit-like weighted things to be lifted.

 

Desert Clobbers have large feet and a small tail to balance its stocky build. Its legs are strong and powerful alike with its arms armed with tough sharp claws. The top layer of its body is covered with tough bumps and thicker hide than what lies beneath. The underbelly of this beast does not have the same amount of toughness that its top half has! The underbellies' thickness resembles that of a cow. Due to its hot habitat, the Clobber has the ability to take its stomach out and hang it out of its mouth to cool it down like a camel. 

 

Having powerful legs, it has the ability to leap, 1-6 blocks forward and 1-3 blocks high, using its tail as a sense of direction. The Desert Clobber uses its large and powerful forehead to eat rodents or insects living in tough rocks and sand, preferring to swallow them whole and use their toxic stomach acid to dissolve them. Male Clobbers like to fight over mates by bashing each other with their foreheads until the other gets exhausted, the power coming from a fully charged headbutt would cause a fully armored knight to have their bones broken, and or severely damage their organs. Due to their quite stocky and heavy build, these beasts do not have a good amount of stamina, though their legs allow them to run and or gallop with the speed of a hippopotamus. The average size of a Desert Clobber is; 6ft in height and 9 ft length. 

 

HABITAT

 

As the name suggests, the Desert Cobbler is native to the desert. They prefer nesting near the more rocky and less sandy areas to find its food. If there is a lack of habitat, there is a chance a herd could be found in the savanna or near a southern oasis where it would be hostile towards others due to the scarce amount of food. They have the ability to cross rivers and even sea, as their stocky bodies float on water. Some have been spotted resting in ponds and lakes to cool their bodies down during heat waves.

 

BEHAVIOR

 

Desert Clobbers prefer to keep to themselves. Their herd is made up of males and females up to 3-10 Clobbers. They have a social hierarchy of the strongest being the leader of the herd. When there is a lack of food, however, the passive herd will turn into a hostile one, driving people out of their settlements or feasting upon them. When threatened, the Desert Clobber will let out a somewhat gurgling sound that comes from the throat as a sign of warning to the offender and its herd. If ignored, the Clobber will leap or charge with their forehead towards the danger.

-their upper hide cannot be used as armor as it is too thick and bulky.

-their underbelly hide is able to be harvested, though it would be the equivalent of standard leather.

-their upper hide which  sits ontop of them, may be harvested, though it would not be able to be crafted into anything, as it is to hard, to rough and to heavy. It would be the equivalent of a rock.

-their stomach acid cannot be harvested.

-they cannot be tamed, mounted or used in combat in ANY way.
