Rilath 3719 Popular Post Share Posted August 19, 2022 ━━━━━━━━┛ ✠ ┗━━━━━━━━ MODERATION TEAM UPDATE Summer 2022 ━━━━━━━━┓ ✠ ┏━━━━━━━━ Hello Lord of the Craft-ers! I’m excited to share all that has happened in the moderation team since our last update back in spring! Namely, I have become the new Admin for the team! We’ve also added a few new members in the last few weeks, so be sure to give them your congratulations. We all look forward bringing them up to speed and working alongside them closely in the coming months! Along with the new members I have some exciting changes to share that will hopefully improve your experience both in-game and on the forums! Forum Rules: Complete! Thanks to the help of our lovely managers ZachoSnacko and Burnsider, our forum rules have been rewritten, giving them a much needed face-lift and making them more straightforward and leaving less up to moderator discretion. You can read them on the rules page, or check them out right here! Spoiler GENERAL FORUM RULES We are an English speaking community and, as such, your posts must be in English, use the latin alphabet, and be in a legible font. ● Roleplay languages, such as Elvish or Blah, may be used. ● Character accents may be represented in dialogue. Certain behaviors are prohibited. Avoid: Harassment of other players, which includes, but is not limited to: Targeted, abusive behavior Continuous, directed personal insults Toxic and/or inflammatory behavior Ill-intentioned or malicious memes Creating a separate forum account for targeting and/or trolling other players, characters or player groups. Discrimination against other players or real life people, which includes, but is not limited to: Racism Sexism Religious discrimination and/or anti-semitism Homophobia Transphobia Sharing forum account information with other players. Posting content for banned players. Images, videos and text containing gory or explicit content. This content includes, but is not limited to: Excessive gore Pornography or sexual content Excessive gross content Loud videos or sounds (i.e., screamers) Advertising other Minecraft servers or soliciting players to join one. Revealing personal information about a player against their wishes, known as doxxing, is prohibited. Doxxing includes, but is not limited to: Photos IP address Location Other internet accounts Double-posting or spamming. Posting “r” or otherwise reserving a post for later editing and updating. Plagiarizing content without the permission of the original author, or using it without crediting them. ROLEPLAY SUB-FORUM RULES Posts should primarily consist of roleplay. Any memes or OOC comments must be contained in a spoiler. Responses in topics should be at least three sentences in length, be related to the original topic or prior responses, and contribute to character development or the value of the original topic. Metagaming is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: Using knowledge gained outside of play Inserting OOC references into roleplay Bringing OOC motivations into roleplay Responding to a post as a character that would be unaware of it Mentioning the death of a non-permakilled character, unless that character has been perma-killed (PKed) is prohibited unless the player has given their consent. Players must roleplay with a character which they currently control and play. Players may not use screenshots of roleplay or of another player’s skin without their permission. OTHER SUB-FORUM RULES Only players mentioned or involved in a report in the Reports sub-forum may reply to a topic. Only the Nation Leaders or PROs in an ongoing conflict may post in the Warclaim Discussion sub-forum. Banned players may only make a separate forum account for the purposes of creating an appeal in the Appeals sub-forum. Public Appeals: Complete! In the interest of the community and of staff transparency, we have decided to trial unlocking public appeals. Our philosophy behind this is to enhance the appeals system by allowing our community at large to play a part, however small, in policing our community, as ultimately you guys are the most affected by banned players returning. Our hope is that by allowing you all to weigh in on these appeals, it will assist the moderation team in making decisions that will benefit the server. While we are eager in allowing you all to voice your opinions of the players’ behavior and actions that lead up to their banning, we also ask that there is some level of decorum in posting on these appeals. Spoiler Posting Guidelines These guidelines are intended to allow a community response to those appealing their bans and all rules are made in following that ideal. Moderation discretion ultimately chooses what is and is not allowed in the context of an appeal. All posting involved in the appeals process must adhere to the forum rules. The intention with allowing all players to respond to ban appeals is to have a community opinion as to someone returning; however it is expected that all players maintain a higher level of professionalism and do their best to upkeep the quality of the forum. 2.1 Because of this, all responses to a forum appeal may have no memes, must keep to the topic at hand, and need to be in a readable and common format. Any responses to an appeal need to relate to the topic at hand; furthermore the responses must only be related to any incident of that specific infraction type for them to be considered on the appeal’s responses. Most important is the idea that community response needs to be appropriate and on topic related to the appeal. Each person is allowed one response to an appeal and continued conversation via topic responses will not be allowed. Heists: Complete! The current state of heists is kind of abysmal. The mod team has done what we can to get on top of apps but as they are currently, heists are a hassle for both the players and the moderators. In an effort to solve this, we’ve decided to temporarily remove heist applications, allowing players to simply make a modreq for a heist-able item instead of having to fill out paperwork in order to roleplay. Rules will still have to be followed, so you can’t just yank items out of a frame or armor off of a stand freely, but if you have the roleplay ability to steal something, modreq for it and we will help you out. Once the modreq has been claimed, a team member will either help you immediately if they have the time, or schedule a time up to a MAX of 48 hours later. If you have any thoughts that you’d like to share about these updates please feel free to post here or reach out to me privately on discord! :)

I understand entirely as to why this rule exists, but it isn't practical. Many people have biases - me included - towards others from an OOC perspective; these OOC biases might easily affect the person's ability to make a forum post which happens to involve the other's character. All it takes to prevent said person from releasing their forum post is to say, "Hey, I don't like you, I don't want you to mention my character in your post." It's restrictive to roleplay, and I personally don't believe that roleplay should ever be restricted, not unless it is unfair to another player. I've rustled quite a lot of feathers throughout my time playing Lord of the Craft. I've also made quite a few forum posts which IRPly directly mention people who dislike me OOCly. If I went to them and asked for permission to include their IRP name within my post then I'm nearly certain that they would've said no. It's simply impractical.
