THE MARIAN RECKONING 

OF MARIC COLBORN

 

For a long while following the death of King Sigismund III, the Marian Retinue has fallen into stagnation and devoid of valiant warriors to protect the Crown. Due to a decline in warriors selected for the Marian Retinue, Knights of the Order of the Crow have routinely taken their place during escorts and court. It is with the recent reformation of the Order of the Crow that we also seek to, once again, fill our Marian Retinue of brave and valiant young stock.

 

Maric Colborn approached the Crown during a holding of the royal court, some time ago, and petitioned for a chance to become enlisted within the Marian Retinue to which the Crown gave its ascent for him to be trained as a squire. The Crown is satisfied by both Maric’s loyalty to us and his steadfast martial abilities and feel he is ready to take on his Marian Reckoning to finally join the Marian Retinue.

 

The Missions of the Marian Squire
 

The Crown has heard reports from Brotherhood scouts of beastial howls wafting over the icey pikes of the Rimevald. All scouts that we have dispatched into the Rimevald to investigate these concerning noises have returned with no physical sightings of its cause, yet report evidence of a large bipedal creature stalking the blistering cold of the Rimevald - however these footprints do not provide much assistant as they are covered in snow within hours of their sightings. We feel it necessary to dispatch the Marian Squire, Maric Colborn, into the Rimevald to track, locate and fell the beast, if it is necessary. We will send a member of our royal family with them on this mission as a Marian Knight’s duty is also to protect the Crown’s family under harsh conditions and Maric is to ensure they go unharmed during the expedition.

 

The Crown believes that all Marian Knights should be knowledgeable of our history. Marian Knights represent the Crown in all that they do and it would be improper and undignified if one who represents the Crown is cut short and embarrassed due to their lack of knowledge. We therefore task Maric Colborn to study the following subjects which we will then test him on:

War of the Wigs

Historic Marian Knights

The Kingdoms relationships with other nations

The Scyfling war

The NAFTA agreement and its consequences
