A BRIDELESS BARUCH

~

Matyas Baruch, recently knighted by His Royal Majesty, has had the longest engagement that this writer has ever seen. In his youth, the young Ser was reportedly betrothed to a common Rutledge woman, one such lady who the city of Karosgrad has never seen again! It’s certainly a curiosity as to why Ser Baruch never chose to take a wife, or as to why his betrothed abandoned him in the first place.

Many a rumor has reached this author's ears, murmuring that the reason Miss. Rutledge abandoned her engagement with Ser Matyas, was due to the fact she discovered an illicit affair between Ser Matyas and the late Konstanz Barclay! The two were extremely close, and the Ser Matyas has grieved for the late Konstanz more than he did his own mother, repeatedly growing teary-eyed whenever the deceased Barclay is mentioned in conversation.

Ser Abraham holds a thumbs up, his daughter Lucia Rutledge had managed to get the family name in the hearsay paper. Despite their estrangement as father-daughter, he was still proud of her. As for Matyas, though... "I hope Matyas fills in well as my replacement, that's why I voted him into the knight's table. He's my replacement, dammit. He better not mess this up."

"Ah . . that's - But I've never . ." The Barrow girl softly emitted that meager, broken phrase - unable to muster any other whilst tucking the missive away into one of the corners of her room. She quietly wept, perhaps believing her father to be right. Trusting others was unwise.

She was only a bastard, after all.

Austina ran to Viorica, sobbing dramatically in her Baroness fashion “It’s your fault we are in the Hearsay! You have to stop talking to that PRINCE!!” Then shoving gloves, as promised, into her friends palm.

The firress Rutledge, once Deputy Surgeon of the St Amyas hospital, read over the paper with a raised brow.. She had decided to take a moment from her time of packing to read the latest edition.. She rolled her eyes at the language used about her and her once beloved Baruch, but upon getting to the affair bit, she burst out into laughter "Oh no no! That would have been so much better though Pfft! Haha!"

Nikolai Mikhail read through the paper as well, getting to the part about his heiress.. The Viscount had grown tired of the public, finding them spoiled and awfully gossipy- though he kept up regardless as it was a subtle duty. "Honestly.. ea do niet know why Esfir's hair turned out like that... Nobody else's did. It reminds eam a bit of Isabel" He commented about the deceased Mondblume as he set the paper down and set it aside "Well should Esfir chose one or the other, we have already made our plans should something go in a different direction.. It is funny how we can save a house from absolute death and somehow it still not be good enough, they always see that in their future regardless. Esfir is a good girl, nie? " He asked his wife as she walked into the room "She will make the decision that makes her happiest should it come down to it, right?" @dove

He also thought some of the parentless bit, thankful for the discussions he had with his children. Sharing Heirlooms and taking them on trips, hugging them and letting them know how much he loved them no matter what. He made sure to let them know that everything he did, he did for them and only them. They were proud of him, and he of them. That was enough for him, that was all the approval he needed.

Hurriedly scampering to her desk within the Aulic Envoy's office, Esfir Kortrevich unfurled the latest edition of Ve Hearsay - only having gotten back from her Baliani trip. Unclasping a hand mirror, an awkward hand touched her pale cheeks and threaded her silver locks with a troubled frown.

". . . ea wonder if Mamej has any hair dye."

"What a mind this writer has." Viktoriya commented reading a copy of the Hearsay during her daily ride around Reinmar. However she couldn't help but laugh at the unfortunate comments made of her family, especially those of the Ser and late Baron.

The lowly Hearsay of Haense.” A Savoyard chuckled some as he scanned the missive. “It is indeed funny to see all the people lusting after the Prince- seems they missed a key few.” He then folded he missive and placed it in his bookshelf. Truly shocked that I was not mentioned once with everything that has happened throughout the last few weeks. Oh well, their loss.”

Countess Adele Ludovar smiles in satisfaction that neither she nor her children have done anything outlandish enough to draw the attention of the Mistress of Whispers. At last, her politely mild manners are paying off as her House's reputation remains steadfast, no longer subject to such a trashing as they endured under her father's tenure. Alas, she smiles in sympathy for Duchess Ruthern and the Grand Prince's endeavors recounted in the Edition.

And finally, she grins to herself and notes it down her correct prediction. That of the return of Hearsay detailed in the most recent publishing of her passion project - The Kortrevich Bull Post.

[!] Emèlie Ada Rousile GASPED, rushing straight for her posse

Upon finding Viorica Barrow @sarahbarah and Analiesa @PerfectlyPeachyshe'd exclaim

"They didn't even know what they were saying, I mean look at you and Georg, you two are good friends, nothing was ill of intent! - and Analiesa, you already have the boys viding over you both. I think they're just jealous of the beauty you both have." The young Falstaff claimed with a frown "I didn't even get mentioned so they've obviously been behind." She stated with a bobble of her head

"Nie, nie. They have a point, there is an alarming lack of papej's," The scruffy Ruthern, Nastasiya, commented, jabbing a calloused finger towards the article she referred to.

sitting on the edge of the dock with his fishing rod, the young Jakob Vernhart shook his head with a deep sigh. He looked to the sky and wondered by himself "How can we save our people when the roots of toxicity run so deep and hide so well between our ranks?" he asked himself before a feeling of nausea took over him, he quickly collected his tools and went back to his house to rest.
