ColdestPepsi 1034 Popular Post Share Posted September 9, 2022 Spoiler It had been a long time coming, the Oath of Macken. He just had to get through it and he would finally be free of the duty to his house. He’d watched his parents die, had found his sister after she’d killed herself, watched as his uncle Brandt died under his command, and so many many more. Everything weighed down on him heavily as the years went on and on, especially his damn habit of smoking which took his wife, the habit which he hoped that had it continued would take him as well, it didn’t. The only time he didn’t feel the weight of everything which he’d done was tending to the roses, at first for his sister and then for all of the fallen Barclays as the years added up. The day went on as most tourney days did in Reinmar, he made his rare occurrence out of the keep and into public, no more enjoying the events of the day as he did everything else. It was only a bit longer. The Oath approached and when it did come that day, he summoned the strength to bark out his words as he did all those years ago, the focus and energy now being on his family instead of the army. The Oath came and passed, the last bit of his will to go on being finally drained. There was one more thing though—the roses. If he died who would take care of the roses, who would take care of the memory of every family member who died? He signaled Wilheim, the future of the house, and took him to the roof. He explained what he could with the little energy he had left. It only took a minute or two before he ushered the boy off, slumping against the wall of the roof and finally letting himself slip away. Spoiler He's finally dead, did not expect Friedrich to last for 2 years.

Fionn__TWG 2616 Share Posted September 9, 2022 Wilheim Barclay returned to the roof later that night, watering can in hand, before spotting his deceased ancestor resting beside his cherished roses. He'd take a moment to say goodbye to his great-great-grandfather, before solemnly calling for one of the houseguards to assist in bringing him to the crypts. In the skies, as usual for those who knew the man, a carrion was thrown at his head by the cackling Fionn. "Drink up, old ****!" he called to his old boss before doing so himself.

Demented_Delila 1118 Share Posted September 9, 2022 Spoiler Luisa Klaire Barclay pulled herself from the endless fields of red Reinmaren Roses that littered the expanses of the Seven Skies, a smile present on her sun warmed face. It was the end of an era for her family, that much was heralded by the arrival of her nephew. She does not speak as she took him into arm, for now resting her head to his. "You took your time, Bärchen, and Ich am glad you did. Your legacy will speak volumes of you long after they've forgotten your face and your name." For once, the old woman laughed, clapping her nephew on the back. He had been her son as much as her nephew, with how much of his youth she had partaken in. "Now- Come. There ist a drink and a meal waiting for you at our table, it ist gutt to have you home."
thevilehobo 198 Share Posted September 9, 2022 As Ellisar arrived home he was told the news by his wife Aestenia. He grumbled as he sat down, memories of Friedrich flooding back to him. It was Friedrich who had given him a second military career, it was Friedrich who had led Ellisar and his comrades in arms through so many battles. When his family had been forced from their home, it was Friedrich who had welcomed them to Haense. There were only a few commanders Ellisar would've followed into any situation, and Lord Marshal Friedrich Barclay was one. He sat in that chair for the rest of the evening, remembering his friend.

Crymson 481 Share Posted September 10, 2022 Memories of the frozen tundra and many fights against tough odds, which were often followed by copious drinking at the tavern. Haense had been a wild time for Glynfir. The first time he had truly resided outside of Haelun'or. Above all of these memories, one stood out. A debt that could never be repaid, not that there had been a chance to do so. Friedrich had sheltered them and sworn that they would always be protected. Though Glynfir had not always felt that he was truly considered Haenseni, Friedrich had always made him feel that he was indeed.
