Overview.

The House de Cantal traces its roots and origins back to Prince Philippe Louis de Horen-Cantal, the Duke of Mardon and "founder" of House Horen-Cantal. Back then, the Prince's Imperial status meant that he was allowed protection by the Nauzican Brigade, and as such, the necessity of a Household Guard or a Company at all was unnecessary. However, as the Prince passed and his descendants carried on, the Imperial status of House Horen-Cantal diminished, and slowly did they lose their titles; the Duchy of Mardon was downgraded to the County of Mardon, which is now a title in the hands of the Novellens of Petra. As such, and in lieu of the House's new beginnings and new bearing under Philip Owyn, the creation of the Order of Saint Andrik is officialised, under service, currently, to House de Cantal and by extension the Margraviate of Velen and the Honorable Margrave Leopold Ulrich von Reuss, brother in law of the Honorable Philip Owyn, though the Order is also classified as a levy within the Kingdom of Aaun directly.

Structure.

The Order styles itself in quite a simple manner, not comprised of many ranks and having only two sects - or, paths - that an aspiring soldier of House Cantal can pursue. This simplicity is a direct request of the Honorable Philip Owyn. The Order is not, by definition, an army or mercenary company, but rather a brotherhood of men and women committed and devoted to the Kingdom and House de Cantal, and wish to serve in its banners through the levies of the Crown's peers. Although the House de Cantal is not a landed vassal of the Kingdom of Aaun, the current head of the house, Philip Owyn de Cantal, has sworn allegiance to the Kingdom and the House of Alstion, deciding so that the Order owes its allegiance to the Black Dragon banner. The order's ranking structure is as follows;

  Grand-Captain [1/1]

Incumbent: The Honorable Philip Owyn de Cantal, Grand-Captain of the Order of St. Andrik.

The duties of the Grand-Captain are administrative and political. As head of the House, it is the duty of the Grand-Captain to maintain the Order's public appearance and professionalism in check,  as well as oversee the Captains of each sect, ensuring they are carrying out their duties in full. The Grand-Captain often appears in gatherings, trainings, skirmishes and ceremonies to congratulate and inspire those doing well.

  Captains [0/2]

Incumbents: Captain of the Sect of St. Amyas, [NAME] | Captian of the Sect of St. Peter, [NAME].

The duties of the Captains are to oversee their assigned Sects and make sure their Lieutenants are working with the rest of their sects in unison and coordinated effort. The Captain of the sect of St. Amyas is expected to have a good and expansive grasp in the areas of medicine, siegecraft and geography, while the Captain of the sect of St. Peter is expected to be one of the finest swordsmen the Order has to offer, and able to train not only new recruits, but keep the skills of Corporals and Lieutenants sharpened.

  Lieutenants [0/6]

Incumbents: None, currently.

A Lieutenant is a Captain's second-in-command within the Sect - three for each captain - and acts as an advisory position, as well as a command position in the absence of a Captain. A Lieutenant's authority in the presence of a Captain isn't limited, however, a Captain's orders should and always comes first. The three Lieutenants are usually divided into three distinct functions within a sect; Quartermaster, Overseer and Advisor. The newer Lieutenants are usually tasked with being quartermasters, while the more senior Lieutenants take Advisory positions within their sect.

  Enlisted [0/∞]

Enlisteds are the tried and tested brothers and sisters of the Order of St. Andrik and make up the meat of the Company. Usually, a Lieutenant has, to their disposal, three Enlisted and three Privates. Enlisteds have certain administrative leeway over Privates, but are not expected to command - those that show leadership, however, are watched with great interest.

  Privates [0/∞]

Privates are aspiring men and women, loyal and devoted to the Aaunic cause, that aspire to join the ranks of the Order of St. Andrik. Each private is expected to conclude a set of three trials, which will be expanded upon. Besides the trials, Privates are encouraged to attent trainings, skirmishes and generally show willingness.

The uniform is the same regardless of rank - though Lieutenants and Captains are allowed their own armor, so long as they carry the blue-and-black of House de Cantal and of the Order.

Sects.

Sects are the internal divisions of the Order of St. Andrik and are dual paths that a Private can choose to take upon. Upon being accepted into the Order as a private, the brother or sister will be asked to choose between one of the paths.

Sect of St. Amyas of Yore

The Sect of St. Amyas of Yore is the medical and support-oriented division of the Order of St. Andrik. These are men and women who have dedicated themselves to the ways of Medicine, but furthermore, have also dedicated themselves to foragingcrafting, smithing, alongside many other areas that may be considered more 'supportive' in a company's structure. Members of the Sect of St. Amyas usually have their service recognised based on their willingness to attempt new things, and how well they perform their chosen duty; a smith will be judged based on the quality of their craft, and a medic will be judged by their knowledge and haste.

Sect of St. Peter of Gaekrin

The Sect of St. Peter of Gaekrin is the combative and warfare-oriented division of the Order of St. Andrik. These are men and women who dedicate themselves to the honorable ways of the blade and combat, and are sturdy soldiers willing to lay their lives for the cause. These are footmenridersarchers, and many other functions. Members of the Sect of St. Peter exhibit themselves in duels, skirmishes and battles and have their service recognised on their willingness to fight and their loyalty to House de Cantal and Aaun at large. This is by far the most straight-forward sect of the Order of St. Andrik.

Soldiers may change from one sect to the other, but soldiers may not integrate both sects at the same time.

Trials.

The trials a private must face in order to become an Enlisted are not the most difficult, but they are not the be shrugged at either. They are two trials, and can usually be done one after the other, in succession. They both must be done in the presence of a Lieutenant, so that the Enlisted may be sworn in should they conclude their trials with success. These trials do not take long, and they are;

The Trial of Commitment

This trial is arguably the more simple off the two trials. In order to show their commitment to the Black Dragon banner and the Kingdom, through service to the Order of St. Andrik, the Private is asked to carry a rock with the Lion of the Order of St. Andrik carved into it to the top of a mountain, and deposit it at the top. After such, they are to declare; The willpower, the resilience, the strength and determination I have shown today, I shall demonstrate for the rest of my tenure as a Brother of the Order, so help me GOD. If such is successfuly completed under the watch of a Lieutenant, they are elligible for the second trial.

The Trial of Aptitude

The trial of Aptitude is designed to determine whether or not a new recruit is apt to join the Order or not. Of course, while the Order will not turn away any honorable Aaunic citizen from an opportunity to serve the crown in an alternative method, one must be able bodied to do so. For this, the Private will spar the overseeing Lieutenant twice. The private is expected to win at least one of these bouts. After such, they will be asked to perform a chain of physical excercises, as well as a small jog to put their resilience to test. If such is concluded with success, they can move on to the oathing ceremony.

The Oath.

While the Order of St. Andrik as an institution and company owes allegiance to the Kingdom of Aaun, the oath is sworn to the House de Cantal, to which the Order is sworn under. The oath is as follows;

"I, [Name], do solemnly swear, under the eyes of GOD and Men, that my everlasting and unwavering loyalty and dedication are to the Order of Saint Andrik and the Black Dragon Banner. I dedicate my body to service, my soul to GOD and my loyalty to my brothers. I swear that I shall uphold the honor and respect of a Brother of St. Andrik. I swear that I shall not disgrace nor embarass the Order or the House. I swear this unto my life, so help me GOD."

Fr. Teodosio hears news of another order dedicating itself to saints, sighing and muttering to himself, "Just because teu dedicate thyself to a Saint doesn't mean there are GODly pious virtuous intentions. Hardly a time to make such orders when humanity is bent on killing itself once again..."
