Fair tidings, those of Krug, from the Empyrean.

We are scribing this missive in response to the recent happenings and accusations of late, and the tragic events of the prior eve - the KINSLAYING of the venerable ancient, Skaatchnak’akaal; an honored acquaintance whom We held great respect for. And so it falls to Us to provide illumination from our point of view.

Two days prior, thereabouts, we were out and about looking for fair Krugmarian Urukhim when we came upon the hamlet of Un’satum - and to our band’s surprise, we were welcomed with open arms - and even the Gravekeeper’s Aberrants were embraced as brothers! We were brought into the walls and given free drinks aplenty, and we partied on in merriment with the Un’satuumites well into the morn. As a gesture of camaraderie, we were even allowed to erect a great monolithic spire to display to all who would look upon it! They encouraged our conflict with the War Nation, and so we left in peace, thinking nothing more of the matter.

Yesterday’s eve we marched into the realm of the War Nation, and strove in non-lethal combat against Venerable Skaatchnak, so that we might take him as a prisoner to sue for peace in this ill-conceived war - the Ancient rendered soundly asleep with no blood being spilled. This was done, and we assured the singular solitary defender that yet stood in the War Nation that neither he, nor the Venerable Ancient, would be harmed if we were let to pass. As we made to depart, we were shocked to find that a warband of Urukhim from Un’Satum - in the company of a devilish Voidal Magus - set upon us like rabid dogs, even as we warned them of the Ancient Skaatchnak’s perilous state.

What followed was nothing short of unrestrained malice.

In an instant, the magus conjured a great spear of fire in his hands, and hurled it directly at the unconscious Skaatchnak we held in our arms as the Krugmarian Urukhim watched in horror. An explosion of flame followed, and the corrupted embers quickly consumed Skaatchnak’s form, immolating his flesh and killing him without mercy nor pity. The fight that followed was a meager trial, with the only true wounds suffered being easily mended once the COWARDLY warband retreated from our onslaught. They ran as cowards did, unable to lay down and die as they should have after their cold-blooded murder. What followed was the collective mourning of Skaatchnak, and we left the remaining Urukhim in peace, with sorrow heavy in our hearts.

The Venerable Ancient, The Rex of Fire, Skaatchnak’akaal was slain by kinslayers. And his death shall be avenged, and the life he lived honored.

Lup'Skaatchnak'akaal.

A man reads the paper with a snicker, "How odd is it, that people will believe the words of darkspawn instead of their very kin."
