Valyris closed her eyes upon being delievered the news of the passing of the Lady Palatine. She took a moment to breathe before gazing over the map of Almaris in front of her. A quiet murmur escaped her as she spoke to herself after dismissing a trove of advisors from the room. "Many who I care for shall fall... the passing of a soul who understood the realities that we face in this realm, one who did good by so many. The entirety of Almaris shall mourn your loss, Johanna." She rose from her seat, preparing to send wishes of condolences to her family after she tucked an aged note into her memento box.

Wilheim heard of his mother's death while he still recovered from a recent bout of food poisoning, the same illness that forced him out of defending Karosgrad himself. Already with a blow to his pride, this news made the man feel as though he couldn't get out of bed, as if his illness had begun once again.

While he should have griefed, his thoughts had turned selfish, unaware of the true story behind her death. Perhaps she was the life he could have saved had he been well that day. If only.

"Du fell as well? How odd." Konstanz remarked simply as his sister joined him in the Seven Skies.

Johann signed the Lorraine at the news of the old Princess' death. The Knight would then kneel before a depiction of St. Johann of Sutica, whispering a prayer that the Saint deliver his beloved daughter to the Skies safely.

Hearing of Johanna’s demise, Karl began to weep within his home in Rozenfeld. The aging houseguard felt immense guilt at the news of her death, the Reinmaren Retinue having been manning the section of walls beside where the tower had collapsed. “Oh maus, vhy did du have to do zhat..?” he laments. Another friend was gone, and there he stood. Yet again he would go on, he thought to himself. Though for how much longer, he did not know.

Frey sat in the Reinmar tavern, staring at the large bottle of vodka beside him. “How will we deal with the excess alcohol now?” He sighed and poured a shot, raising his glass. “To our Maus, Johanna.”

Ser Reinhardt Barclay’s armor creaked as he shifted within the Cathedral of Saint Tylos, he sat knelt in prayer before the altar. The old man’s one good shed a tear for the fallen Princess of Sutica as he prayed for her safe accession to the Seven Skies. “May du meet the rest of dein family when du get there, Jojo…” The retired knight paramount murmured “Tell mein wife und mein boys that I will be there soon enough…”

The Savoyard sat within his office as he read of the death, his lips twisted down, leaving a gnarled frown upon his face. “It was a pleasure serving under you, Lady Johanna.” He muttered in a quiet tone. Sebastien’s eyes closed as an exhale departed from his lips. “Poor Conrad.”

First his wife and then his mentors both Ser Emil and Ser Walton. A lot of loss had recently hit Conrad, a lot was weighing down on him, as he was now a father of two by himself with the responsibility of the Paramount. Johanna's death was just another thing he had to put away, for now, to grieve over later and let out during a fight. He kept repeating to himself and anyone who mentioned talking about everything of recent. "I just need to pack it up and push it back for now."

Felix was still recovering in the trauma center, his left arm still freshly severed. As he read the missive, he had to force his eyes to continue to scan the missive. When his name was directly mentioned, Felix could not stomach it anymore. His eyes slammed shut and the warrior began to quietly weep.

His tears stained the ink of the parchment, but he forced himself to read the final words before crumpling the parchment and covered his face in his one remaining hand. "Johanna, not you...Ea should have been there with you." The palatine guard mourned his old friend who had given him so many fond memories in life.

"I should have been there with you." He said once more as he continued to quietly weep, running his hand through his hair as his mind tried to go back to fonder memories of a young Brotherhood initiate.

The day in Reinmar, when he beat her in a friendly game of Ur, and his life changed forever. Things were so much simpler back then.

But with the death of Johanna, Felix believes those days will never return. He held his palatial brooch in his hand, and ran in his thumb over it.

He hoped to see her again one day. In a place where there would be no paperwork, pressure, or political opinion. Only beautiful rose fields and warm summer air.

Daerine's first thought upon hearing the news of Johanna's passing was that it was simply a cruel rumor. Upon seeking out her old friend, though, she found nothing. She clutched desperately at the ring she wore on a chain, her eyes shut tight. "You can't be gone, not yet," she whispered.

The night after the siege of Karosgrad, Daerine found herself atop Reinmar's keep. The air was frigid, her breath forming clouds in front of her as she gazed out into the rose fields. "We had so much left to do." In the coming days, Daerine began a trek across Almaris. She took to painting different landscapes she felt Johanna would enjoy. When all was said and done, all such paintings were tossed into the hearth of Reinmar's dining hall. "I wish I could have told you everything," her final words to the Duchess were uttered into the fire, smoke curling in her lungs.

Juliya Barclay hugged her pseudo-sister in the Seven Skies. "Tell me, Hanna," she gripped Johanna's hand tight. "How is mein bruder?"

Josefina sighed softly as she carefully shut the door behind her, having set tea and a small tray of toast down beside her husband. It seemed no matter how much she told her dear husband that he remained faultless, Wilheim seemed all too ready to blame himself.

An ancient Barclay Duke welcomed his descendent into the seven skies with a smile and a hug. "Welcome."

Elsewhere...

Erwin sat upon the hill above Rozenfeld, admiring the work his mother had done and what she had built with tears streaming down his eyes. "Rest in peace, mother." at that the Barclay Lordling removed his sword from the dirt and went to comfort the rest of his family.
