The Battle of Hoar Hill, 1541

The Holy Inquisition has, in recent times, been alerted to the presence of an uprising terrorist insurgency known as the Black Hand. Led by a disgruntled deceiver calling himself Urguan I, no doubt in some pitiful attempt to gain favor to his misguided cause from his Dwarven kinsmen, this malicious and malevolent group of shortmen have been circulating missives around the lands of Almaris, detailing a series of scathing lies and misconceptions to the denizens of the realms.

The Inquisition would like to address such accusations head on - the first being the claim that the Inquisition were responsible for the massacre of a group of Dwarven children who we believed were vampires. The Inquisition not only rebuke this claim as no more than nascent and ill-constructed propaganda and slander, but we revile the very notion of it. No such encounter ever took place, at any time or place, and this implication of pedicide is naught but an infirm delusion wrought within the mind of Urguan I, no doubt to further some grandiose and diabolical scheme of his own machination. Those well versed in bestial study and academia would note, furthermore, that the vampiric plague does not extend to any children among the descendant races, and they cannot succumb to it. This includes Dwarven children, a fact that the Inquisition is well aware of, which further adds evidence to the fact that this outlandish claim is no more than pure forgery.

The missive goes on to lament, at great depths, the oppressive and despotic nature of the Canonist church, and how the faith must be dismantled and destroyed at any cost necessary. More lies, for the Canonist church acts not out of hatred and cruelty, but benevolence and grace. Furthermore, the Church does not enforce the faith in any capacity beyond the scope of the Human realm. Dwarves, Orcs, Elves and all other races are free to worship whichever Gods they may please, in their own lands. Such a stance has been taken by the Church of the Canon for years, and the Holy Inquisition only follows the will and directive of the church.

The Inquisition, aside from being sworn to protect humankind from the demonic and ill-spawn who seek to infiltrate and dismantle it from within, are also vowed to protect and safeguard Canonism and The Lord’s people. As per the third tenant of the Rite of Armament, which can be quoted as follows;

III. To protect and safeguard the members of His flock, for they are our brothers and sisters in communion.

Therefore, we shall be clear. Any act of aggression or assault upon any good Canonist or man and women of the clergy shall compel us into action, for we are bound by sacred vow. Force us to conflict, and we shall fight you without fear nor hesitation, for however long it takes, no matter how far from our homes it shall take us, and we shall eradicate you and all of your terrorist conspirators down to the very last man, until the name of the Black Hand is naught but a miserable black stain upon the annals of history.

Think carefully upon what you do next. We shall not be the ones to spark this conflict, but we will defend our LORD and our right to worship him indubitably. Our GOD is one of mercy, but his justice is swift and relentless.

-Kazimir var Ruthern, Grand Inquisitor of the Holy Inquisition and Knight General of the Order of Saint Humbert

The dwarven printing presses begin spinning up, printing and distributing a new pamphlet.

Attention all races of Almaris!

The Holy Inquisition has released a statement filled with lies and propaganda, attempting to paint the Black Hand as a group of terrorists spreading "scathing lies and misconceptions." But do not be fooled by their lies. We stand for the truth, and we will not be silenced by their threats of violence.

The Holy Inquisition claims that they had no involvement in the alleged massacre of Dwarven children, and that the vampiric plague does not extend to children of other races. Yet, we have firsthand accounts of the brutality and indiscriminate violence of the Inquisition, and we know that they do not discriminate between vampire and child. Furthermore, the Canonist church has a long history of attempting to convert and subjugate other races, using violence and fear to impose their beliefs upon us.

The Holy Inquisition also claims that they do not enforce the Canonist faith beyond the scope of the Human realm and that other races are free to worship as they please. This is yet another lie. The Canonist church has a long history of attempting to convert and subjugate other races, and the Holy Inquisition is their tool of enforcement. We will not stand for this kind of oppressive rule any longer.

The Black Hand fights for the freedom and autonomy of all races, not just Humans. We will not be silenced by the threats of the Holy Inquisition. We will stand up for what we believe in and fight for our right to worship as we please, free from the oppressive rule of the Canonist church.

Do not be swayed by the propaganda of the Holy Inquisition. Join us in the fight for a brighter future for all. Together, we can bring an end to the tyrannical rule of the Canonist church and ensure that all races are free to worship as they please.

Sincerely, Urguan I Leader of the Black Hand
