Hero’s End

Spoiler

“Gaze into fate, hero.” A deck of tarot cards flew outward from the Pharaoh’s cloak, presenting an image. Before the Hero a singular card held itself firm, displaying the moving image of a hooded sorcerer seated atop his throne of teeth - He who cackled maniacally before ruined lands bathed in flame and blood. “An evil sorcerer - one of many, though this one seeks to raise an army of evil. . . One that threatens to swallow the very world itself. The end draws near. . . I require a charitable soul, one who is willing to defeat this sorcerer. Once you complete this task, your heroism, your adventures, it may all come to an end. . .” The Pharaoh intoned, “Are you prepared to face that?”

“The elders once spoke of such an event, though I never imagined it would happen in my time. . .” Bodbmakos took a moment to contemplate, clenching his fist tight as he gazed at the face of the card, slight apprehension upon his own. “I have long known nothing lasts forever, it is better to fall with righteous glory than to wither away.”

“. . .So you understand.”

Adorned in fresh pelts and the arms of Du Loc, Bodbmakos ventured off to the lands of Yolg to defeat whatever ancient evil that had stirred, destined to meet his fate. So ends the story of the Hero of Du Loc, who stepped through the great filter and into the annals of legend. But the tales of heroes will never come to a close, for the struggle between Charity and Greed is a war without end.

“From lands of snow, had arrived upon a glacier,

fear he did not show, for he’d meet his maker,

champion of Charity, giving to those in need,

one of great barbarity, never gave in to Greed,

he who saved Brae, and slain the Minotaur,

kept the fiends at bay, like the heroes of yore,

how he earned his fame, most would be rotten,

for this we sing his name, never to be forgotten,

had bested every foe, truly a master over nature,

from lands of snow, had arrived upon a glacier”

Spoiler

Thank you, whoever interacted with Bodbmakos and made him the character that he was, definitely my favorite of any I have ever played. He was played for nearly a year with a small hiatus in between, sadly all good things must eventually come to an end, and Bodbmakos' story must move on.

Another reminder for Bodbmakos' treasure hunt, with five items left to be found.

Gaisorix held his spear underhand and pressed his splintered shield against himself, smiling with a cracked and curved panel of wood and bent undergirding of iron for lips. He looked the owlish chimaera in its eyes and saw Bodbmakos' reflection in them as he defended himself to the last breath in forlorn hope in the dread city of Kivdrona. He had died a heroic death of his own fighting side-by-side with Balianese, Cingedoz, and Vistulians against the eldritch; inspired by the deeds piled together by his kinsman like a victor does his spoils of war.

Brennus spurred himself on into the city of New Vienne, half-heartedly, but urged ever onwards by the very thought of his fellow Cingedoz whose very legend seemed night unattainable. He saw a mirage of Bodbmakos when the lance struck him down in the streets fighting the half-crazed magi-highwayman. Though cowardice weighed his own heart down leading up to his combat, he felt for a brief second that he had come nearer in heart to that distant relative whose deeds forced bards to produce epics rather than mere couplets.

The naive eyes of the young Odoacer welled with tears, though he stifled them in a show of toughness to his chieftess Lurana. That one of their own died is a terrible loss, more grievously felt for the impact Bodbmakos had on the mythos and legends that spirited the small tribe onward. Though the young man knew little of the world in experience, much of his worldview was shaped by the great legends of heroic deeds and the expected virtues anyone ought to embrace that they may come even close to the victories and the lessons had by the great men who came before.

Spoiler

I really appreciate you taking on the Cingedoz character and it is incredibly fun to see the different interactions and impacts you made. Cheers and hope you continue having a great experience whatever you choose to do afterwards!

An Oyashiman tended to his tree; nurturing and caring for it as the years passed, though for a brief moment, he paused as his mind grew drifted to different times.

Silence passed, and he could've sworn that the world became quieter.

"OH SING! SING! THE SONG OF BODBMAKOS! Son of Hyperborea! Son of Brig'blaewas! Grand and legendary hero, his form guarded by hefty bronze, his mighty FOERENDER, The Axe of Volgarr sings of both their songs eternal! May they return anew and grace this world with their epics once more! And may that time come, when still yet his legend sings!"

And though he cried, Veluc weeped very little at the loss of a close friend. Instead, he searched for ways to further Charity, as the great hero once did.
