A Return to His Light

To His Holiness, High Pontiff Pontian IV,

 

As I have now secured my place as the undisputed ruler of the Commonwealth of Petra, I seek to remedy the past mistakes made by the previous administration, many of its members having been central figures in the rebelling against my rightful rule. By poor policy and poor judgment we of Petra have erred against the Mother Church, namely through making demands for perceived slights without entering negotiations first or seeking other reasonable means of recourse. While such actions could easily be laid at the feet of those who have since taken up arms against me, and more recently been smashed upon the field of battle, it would reflect poorly on my good Canonist sensibilities to deny my own role in the matter and strive to seek repaired relations.

 

It is because of this that I withdraw my signature, and the signature of Petra, from the recent proclamations seeking to issue demands against the Church entitled ‘The Blood of the Goat’, and request forgiveness for my rashness. I wish to enjoin my renewed Petra with the Church, and seek to rebuild the strong ties between the two as we work towards a better future. Furthermore, as the investigation into my alleged sins is conducted by Father Blackwater, I have allowed him full access to all disposable evidence and now graciously await the judgment of the Curia, which I will accept without question so the path towards forgiveness and renewed relations may be unimpeded.
