A freshly forged Arcanium Atronach Core

Preface

The process of creating Atronachs has remained largely unchanged over the years. Forgers have relied on tried and true methods that involve using a magegold core and focus crystals, which has proven to be an efficient and effective approach. However, some curious minds have always questioned whether there could be a more innovative and unique way to create Atronachs that would result in truly breathtaking creations. Thus, the concept of using Arcanium Cores was born.

Arcanium is a special material that takes on a distinctive form during the forging process, making it an ideal component for crafting Atronachs. One of the most exciting things about using Arcanium Cores is that they can be enchanted with spells of opposing elements, creating new possibilities for Atronach customization.

Atronachs with Arcanium Cores have a few notable differences from their standard counterparts. Most notably, they are crafted for aesthetic purposes, adding an array of colors and styles to the range of Atronachs that can be created. The unique properties of Arcanium also allow for the mixing of different elements, resulting in a wide variety of possible combinations that yield visually stunning Atronachs.

Overall, the use of Arcanium Cores offers a fresh perspective on the creation of Atronachs, inspiring forgers to experiment with new materials and designs. This has expanded the possibilities for creating unique and captivating Atronachs that can be used for a range of purposes, from combat to decoration.

Non - Combative Changes

Any elemental type of Atronachs can have an Arcanium core added to them, which gives forgers a good chance to make aesthetically distinctive constructs. It's important to remember that this customization has no effect on the Atronach's natural abilities, which are determined by its elemental type.

Atronachs still possess the same spell-casting abilities, despite the Arcanium core giving them a different aesthetic touch. While the Atronach's spells will have an identical aesthetic to the Arcanium core, their actual effects won't change.

Redlines:

  • The spells and abilities of the Atronachs still depend on the type, the core ONLY gives aesthetic differences.

  • The effects of the spells and abilities of the Atronachs is still dependant on the type, Lava Atronachs will use fire spells if they are fire atronachs if the Core is made of Earth Arcanium and rocks would not be hot if they are Earth Atronachs with Fire Arcanium cores.

  • Aesthetic choices are left open to the player and forger as long as it stays within reasonable changes.

  • The Arcanium Core must be held on the Atronach inventory, losing it would mean losing the core and thus destruction of the Atronach. It must be ST signed and indicate; type of Atronach, type of Arcanium and aesthetic choice.

  • Limbs with a core of the different type of their element would not see their Elemental Affinity increased in tier but they would be able to give the chosen aesthetic to it.

  • Telekinetic Atronachs would not have any aesthetic change if an Arcanium Core of any kind is used on them, but all Arcanium Cores would increase their mana storage, as explained below in the Elemental Coincidences.

Elemental Coincidences:

By placing an Arcanium Core of the same element than the limb, it would find its Elemental Affinity increased to that of a Tier 5 Voidal Mage, much like its spell counterpart, this is purely Non-Combative and for aesthetic uses. The Core links with the arm in order to empower its capacities, strengthening the affinity and giving its user total control over the element, freeing it from restrictions and obstacles.

Mechanics:

  • Elemental Affinity allows for the wielder of an Atronach Limb to create passive art using their evocation. This art, with the help of an Arcanium Core matching the element of the limb, allows the user to conjure their element to the level of precision of a T5 Evocationist.

  • This ability is identical to the non-combat Conjure Element ability of each respective evocation, as used at T5, and follows all relevant limitations.

  • In the case of a Telekinetic Atronach Limb, those same boons would be given by any Arcanium core; Allowing them to shift their plates at will as if using Alter Shape.

Redlines:

  • Elemental Affinity can only be used in non-combat situations.

  • All evocation art is limited by all the redlines of the original evocation.

  • Requires line of sight.

  • Telekinesis Limbs do not gain elemental affinity, though they gain the ability to shift their plating within the limits of Atronach Lore, with volume always remaining constant.

When talking about CA (Creature Application) Atronachs, Micro-Atronachs and Atronach Drones, same-element Arcanium Cores increase their capacity of storing Mana. As a result, these constructs see the duration of time between recharge cycles increased, so they have to refuel less frequently.

The Core matching the Atronach element allows for a better link between both parts, increasing both the efficiency with which these constructs store and use their mana and increasing the capacity of their mana storage, making the mana much more stable and thus being retained for longer periods of time, effectively functioning for more time without requiring a recharge.

In conclusion, it’s important to take this factor into account when forging an atronach as it may be fundamental for the new constructs so they can participate in longer trips or missions without having to stop to recharge so often.

Mechanics:

  • The amount of stored mana will be roughly an additional week added on to the regular time between recharges, bringing up the time frame from recharging every two weeks to recharging every three weeks.

  • In the case of a Telekinetic Atronachs, those same boons would be given by a all Arcanium cores, giving the same boon of longer charge times.

Redlines:

  • Due to the increase of the amount of mana it can store, the Atronach can no longer be manually refueled by the Forger completely. Requiring recharging at an obelisk to reach the final third week of charge.

  • The recharging time has been increased to 1 OOC hour and a half to completely recharge.

  • In order to manually refill an Atronach, the mage that is refilling the construct must have knowledge on Atronach Forging, be a Transfigurationist AND have knowledge of Arcanium Forging.

PURPOSE:

According to the existing lore on the different types of Atronachs, it is stated that the cores are entirely made of Magegold, with no mention of the use of Arcanium Cores. Although the use of Magegold cores seems reasonable, it is odd that there is no information on how to create Atronachs using Arcanium, the metal that is made of and used by Voids.

To give these mechanical beings more functionality and aesthetic options, we attempt to introduce Arcanium Cores into the process of creating Atronachs. By avoiding the traditional association of each construct with a specific element, this method seeks to improve the Atronachs' overall design and give them more artistic freedom in how they appear.

By incorporating Arcanium Cores into Atronachs, it increases the potential uses and applications of Arcanium, which were formerly restricted to other branches of Voidal Magic. This brand-new component's inclusion in the development of Atronachs creates new opportunities for enhancing their usability and toughness. Additionally, it offers a wider variety of aesthetic options for designing Atronachs that aren't constrained by the element they belong to.

In summary, the use of Arcanium Cores in the construction of Atronachs increases their potential and opens up a wider variety of aesthetic options, resulting in more inventive and creative possibilities for these mechanical constructs.
