The Palatio Arancione 397 Share Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Issued by THE MONTEROSA COURT On 14th of Sigismund’s End , 46 BA Penned By: Her Ladyship, Serena Viviana of Arkent Since the foundation of the Kingdom, the citizens of Balian have loosely followed the guidelines set forth during the empire of ole when choosing what Jewels and Regalia to don. As we enter this new prosperous age, The Monterosa Court sees it fit to inscribe the rules of regalia within the Kingdom of Balian for all to read and obey. CROWNS The crown usage of a crow is reserved solely for the King or Queen Regnant, representing their sovereignty over the lands of Balian and its citizenry, as such, the piece is never to be worn by a consort or heir to the Kingdom. The crown is typically composed of a large band and four or eight arches that rise toward a point at the center. Beneath the arches would be a layer of velvet or fabric of the wearer’s choosing, which covered the wearer’s head. The Crown may be encrusted with any jewels of the wearer’s pleasure, typically reflecting their personality. During a King or Queen’s lifetime they would typically only wear two Crowns, one solely for their coronation and another for the rest of their reign. The Coronation Crown shall be used in all coronations henceforth and shall undergo no major alterations to its shape or design. The sovereign’s second crown is one of their own making, crafted to personally fit them and their tastes. This second crown is typically worn at formal events, yet a King or Queen may wear it at any time they please. The Crown of John I TIARAS Tiaras act as a symbol of one’s position within the Royal families, typically only gracing the heads of Princesses and their daughters. Unlike the Formality of Coronets and Crowns, Tiaras act as both an informal and ceremonial piece of Jewelry. Only Princesses of the Kingdom may commission a Tiara, commonly doing so alongside a matching Parure. A Princess or Prince may bestow tiaras unto their daughters for use during childhood and young adulthood, though a member of the extended household should never possess more than three to four tiaras for personal use. Upon marriage into another house, a member of the Extended Household would be expected to conform to the Regalia standards of their spouse’s household. The Ducal peers of the Kingdom hold the sole privilege for their mainline members to use tiaras during Weddings and Presentations of Symposia Pragma. Any other peers would be required to receive explicit permission from the Crown for any of their pedigree to don such Regalia. A tiara is defined by its lack of complete circular connection, typically resting upon the front of a Princess’s head with the support of the lower band. Due to Tiaras acting as both Casual and Formal pieces, they range greatly in design and opulence. The more complex a tiara, typically the more formal. The Saint Julia’s Sweetheart Tiara CIRCLETS Unlike Tiaras, Circlets have a complete circular connection, crafted to encircle the head rather than rest atop it. Within the Kingdom, only members of the Royal Family, Ducal, and Comital Peers may don a Circlet. The circlets of peers are distinctly different from that of the Royal as they are designed by the crown and distributed to a peer upon elevation of title. A second Circlet would only be made in the case of destruction or a house’s elevation to a ducal title. The Circlets of the Royal Household are known to have unique shapes and designs, typically featuring an abundance of rare stones, complex engravings, and shapes. Circlets of the Royal Household are the only circlets that may be crafted of gold. Amongst the Royal Household, a circlet is commonly seen as the male equivalent of a Tiara when attempting to distinguish one’s self, though it is not uncommon for a Princess to be in possession of her own Circlets. Circlets are only to be worn by peers in a formal setting, such as Royal Court or Balls, they are never to be worn as everyday wear. A peer may only possess one circlet at any given time and this item may only ever be worn by the current peer of the family. Amongst the Royal family, Circlets follow the same guidelines as Tiaras; the more opulent the design, the more formal. A Comital Circlet and The Circlet of the Prince Monterosa SASHES A sash is defined as a large, colorful ribbon, which drapes from the shoulder to the hip, typically composed of high-quality silks or other fabrics of the wearers choosing. Sashes act as a way to distinguish oneself position within the Kingdom and as such, may be worn by members of the Royal Family, Extended Household, and Peers and their Consorts. Sashes are meant to be worn as formal wear, typically making appearances at events such as galas, balls, and royal court. A peer and consort may hold a small collection of sashes, though they should all match the house’s colors. The usage of Purple within a sash is reserved for members of the Royal Family and Extended Household. During Presentations and Weddings, a sash may be loaned out by a peer to a member of their mainline family and any member of the Royal or Extended Household may don one as well. Unlike tiaras, a member of the extended household may continue to employ the usage of a sash, though their spouse may not unless they are a peer. The Snapdragon Sash & The Augusta Sash BROOCHES & PENDANTS Brooches are an accessory typically crafted as a base of metal and many gemstones or pearls inserted into their body to create intricate designs, typically attached to the wearer by a set of pins. Pendants hold the same designs as their Brooch equivalents but are attached to a chain or necklace instead of being pinned to the clothes. Brooches and Pendants are only to be crafted and distributed by the Monterosa on behalf of the crown. Brooches and Pendants shall be crafted to represent different positions within the Kingdom and distributed to citizens to honor their dedication to Balian. No one should don a brooch or pendant unless granted to them by the Monterosa or reciting explicit consent to do so. Brooches are reserved for usage during formal events while Pendants are worn casually or when one is wearing armor. Brooch of the Governess’s Council JEWELRY Items such as earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets are considered to be general Jewelry, meaning they may be worn by anyone within the Kingdom may adorn themselves with such items. Jewelry of the Royals and nobility are distinct due to their opulence and exquisite stones, while much of the jewelry a commoner has access to is far simpler. While there is no strict rule limiting the jewelry of the common class, due to the expense of opulent jewelry, members of the common class tend to possess a limited supply, with a common house typically only holding one or two sets of quality jewels. Nobility typically hold a wide array of jewels that have been purchased by their house over the generations, with the only limitation placed upon their collections being that all Jewels of Purple hues are reserved for the Royal Family and Extended Household. A Noble Jewelry Set HEIRLOOMS Due to Heirloom's unique history and importance within Noble Houses, exceptions are made for the nobility to don them for special occasions at the consent of the Crown. In order for the Palatio Monterosa to properly track and prove the legitimacy of these items, all regal heirlooms must be presented to the Crown Jeweler for approval and addition to Court documentation. A peer should keep the Crown Jeweler informed on the change of ownership of their heirlooms, without proper tracking of ownership an heirloom’s validity could become impossible to prove.
