[✗] [Amendment] Corpsevision not Allvision

Spoiler

Due to the nature of the Modification, I would suggest allowing current Liches, Darkstalkers, or Necromancers that hold this modification the one time ability to remove such from their MA/CA and open their modification slot. Though this is ultimately up to ST decision and choice.

Original Lore:

Purpose

Modifications are supposed to hold a cost, however out of all of them, Corpsevision only gives while not actually taking anything. So I would like to suggest a modification to the current redlines

Original

Spoiler
  • This functions mechanically identical to normal vision while offering a cantrip ability of seeing how close someone is to death. However, a necromancer cannot predict to any accurate degree if someone is about to die in a random amount of days or years (however, they can lie).
    • For example, a necromancer cannot say that Jim has twenty more years to live and it be in any way enforced.

Amendment

Spoiler
  • Taking on this modification will cause the individual to become fully blind to all things but lifeforce, the bearer being able to view a faint aura of lifeforce around individuals. This also grants the user the ability to predict how close to death someone is, however a necromancer cannot predict to any accurate degree if someone is about to die in a random amount of days or years (however, they can lie).
    • For example, a necromancer cannot say that Jim has twenty more years to live and it be in any way enforced.

    • A necromancer with this modification would still be eligible to apply for either a Seer FA/MA

    • This makes the necromancer fully unable to see individuals that do not hold any Lifeforce, such as Automata, Atronachs, Siliti, ect.

If a necromancer with Corpsevision becomes a Seer, they should lose Corpsevision (or have it become redundant), as Seers don't generally keep any bonuses/alterations to sight

What Olandyr said, druid seers lose greensight for instance.

With the nature of Modifications, they do become permanent to the character. Talked a little with Zarsies about it, however he mentioned so long as it just had it pick up on Lifeforce it should be fine. Though for the most part, it is redundant with for example,  if a Necromancer becomes a MA Seer.

All in all, the amendment is made to actually 'blind' rather then just give a slight boost to ones vision, and it still allows for said flavor of being blind and being able to pursue Seerdom. Should one desire to go down that route.

Why nerf a cantrip ability that's quite literally just "you can see if someone's actively dying (which is typically already obvious)"? Did you encounter an issue with a necromancer using this to powergame?

Not at all, I just took note of it being the only real necro modification that doesn't have a drawback. If you look through the other modifications, all hold a certain drawback, and its specified in the lore that they should have one.

Mummification for example, gives life but slows them down
Durgrmail gives communion with the dead easier, while holding an inability to talk normally

Ghoul Flesh allows you to plague touch things easier, at the cost of risking infecting others.

If you look at the lore itself it even states "Blinded to life, but capable of seeing the woes of death, a seer wields the power to see how much lifeforce a living being has." Wouldn't you agree then that it makes little to no sense to have one be able to see things that hold zero Lifeforce?

Nerfing something that doesn’t require nerfing.

You are doing something that isnt needed in any way lmao. And taking vision from necros thats kinda absurd for me, like why would they lose vision and see only life force? That is so useless.

The effect of open lore amendments. Constant fishing for shit to get modified. Saw this in Kani too, with like 4 proposed amendments. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
