(Lagofyn is pronounced La-go-feen)

Origin

The Lagofyn are a very secretive and nomadic race never staying in 1 place for too long for fear that they will be hunted by the other mortal races of this world. The Lagofyn believe themselves to be guided by the spirits of nature and regularly perform elaborate rituals to commune with these spirits. In Lagofyn culture it is the job of the women to go out hunting due to their smaller and lighter bodies making it easier for them to chase down or hide from their prey, from a young age children of the Lagofyn race are expected to be apprentices for the different jobs available within their society whether it be helping the tribe's medicine man with curing the many ailments of the tribe or helping one of the hunters to check their traps and reset them. The Lagofyn hold the honor of their ancestors higher than everything else and believe it is important to look to their ancestors for guidance and clarity, they also believe that all among the tribe need to die an honorable death in order to be accepted into the spirit tribe. A Lagofyn will never willingly kill, eat or wear anything made from a rabbit as they believe that they are sacred creatures, they believe them to be their ancestors coming back in the most pure form possible that is completely one with nature. The Lagofyn do not believe in what would be deemed as modern technology and prefer to let the land provide for them, the use of modern technology within a Lagofyn settlement is seen as a crime against nature, the spirits and the Lagofyn race and would be punishable by death or slavery where the perpetrator would be forced to do the more difficult and menial jobs within the tribe. Although the Chief or Chieftess are looked too for guidance and leadership within Lagofyn culture all members of the tribe are seen as equal and are all treated with the same amount of respect. The Lagofyn are native to the untouched forests of Aevos and have lived there for many generations, someone walking through these forests may see the remnants of ancient Lagofyn settlements that have been dismantled and taken with them to their new homes. Due to there being a limited amount of space in the forests and a limited amount of resources the many Lagofyn tribes are constantly at war with each other which although very brutal is actually seen by the Lagofyn as an honor to nature as the bodies will decompose and feed all life in the forests.

Physical Description

The Lagofyn resemble humanoid rabbits and as such have very prominent rabbit features, the most obvious being that their entire body is covered in fur. The Lagofyn have large rabbit ears which are useful for the hunters of the Lagofyn tribes as they are able to hear quieter sounds and rabbit tails. Unlike most of the humanoid races of the world the Lagofyn have powerful digitigrade legs that make them very good at running and jumping. The most unpredictable physical trait of the Lagofyn is it's height as they can range anywhere from the size of a Halfling to the size of an Elf depending on the subspecies. As well as fur the Lagofyn do also have hair which is usually decorated with intricate braids as well as flowers, leaves, twigs, feathers and sometimes even bones. The fingers and toes of a Lagofyn have small but sharp claws allowing them to have better grip of the trees and forest debris they have to navigate in their daily lives. All species of Lagofyn share these traits with the only difference being their heights.

Outside of the forests the Lagofyn are quite harmless and are actually quite weak as generations of living in forests has resulted in their eyes being much more sensitive to light, the loud noises of civilization can disorientate a Lagofyn as their large ears make their hearing quite sensitive and loud noises sound even louder to them, walking the stone streets of more developed settlements would cause the claws of a Lagofyn to become blunt meaning that if they returned to the forests they would not be as able to navigate them as they would be if they had never left, the only benefits a Lagofyn may have outside of the forests is their speed and ability to jump higher than other races.

Mental Description

The Lagofyn are extremely cautious of other races but also quite curious about them due to them being such a rare sight. They constantly think of their tribe and ancestors before any action they take as they do not wish to dishonor them. They are always looking for guidance from the spirits of nature. The Lagofyn tend to be quite friendly creatures when among their own tribe and are quite caring creatures. Outside of their tribes the Lagofyn are vicious hunters and refuse to give up on their prey once they have it in their sights. In times of war the Lagofyn try to make sure that their enemy dies with honor as they don't want to disrespect the enemy's ancestors. The Lagofyn believe that the spirits are responsible for everything that happens in the world and do not question it, even if it's something extremely bad or sad they deem that it was the will of the spirits.

Abilities

See Spirits:

This ability allows the Lagofyn to see the spirits of nature

This ability is passive and is always active, it's just to provide the race with a bit more RP opportunity

Redline - It doesn't give the Lagofyn any sort of special bonuses and is purely just RP fuel

Subspecies

Artic Lagofyn - This subspecies tends to be larger with a lot more fur, their hearing is better while their eyesight is worse, they don't do well in warmer environments.

Mountain Lagofyn - This subspecies has blunt claws and tends to be quite small, they tend to be fatter than the other subspecies due to the need to stay fed for longer periods of time as there isn't much to hunt in the mountains, they don't do well in the forests.

Desert Lagofyn - This subspecies is completely blind and has much shorter fur than the rest to keep them cool in the hot desert environment, they don't do well in cold environments.

Forest Lagofyn - The most common subspecies, they have sharp claws, good eyesight and good hearing, outside of the forests they are close to being blind and are overwhelmed by the noises of civilization.

Civilized Lagofyn - While incredibly rare this subspecies does exist, they have extremely short blunt claws, regular humanlike hearing, regular humanlike eyesight, they don't do well out in the wild and are not seen by the Lagofyn as a part of their species.

-1, poorly written, and personally I would not like another 'furry' type race on the server

Moderation is aware as a discussion was had in the main LotC discord, but this player is a sexpest with a fursona that is a rabbit which they sexualise heavily - referring to it as a "succubunny" and even going as far as to model large humanoid breasts on 3D models to be used in games like Second Life. Given that this player hasn't played the server in actual years, it is very clear that this race and their presence is only to exist as an extension of their fetish. Disgusting.

I hereby rescind my original comment

The 2 people who commented above have been harassing me on Discord for a while for things that exist outside of LOTC, please do not take their feedback seriously as they clearly can't separate things and are clearly too immature to be taken seriously

Regardless of floating accusations, this race is too 'bare bones' on pretty much every front (origin, other lore references to bring the piece together and even core mechanics such as maximum age and potential weaknesses and ability explanations missing entirely). Overall, I don't see this in its current state having any sort of place on the server.

A good lorepiece to use for reference when it comes to new CA races (particularly animalistic ones) is the Musin page which has an abundance of origin and cultural details which provides a good starting platform for anyone interested in playing one as well as well laid out traits and mechanics. You can find this piece here.

I did attempt to say about weaknesses it's under physical description, as for abilities they don't really have any special abilities other than seeing the spirits of nature which really is just RP fuel
